NEW at KnitPicks! CITY TWEED!

Me, too! “Snowshoe” it’s called! It was my first pick, too!
I think it will make into a fabulous cabled hoodie, don’t you?

Cables have a hard time showing up on real dark colors. Even medium colors, sometimes. But white tweed should be fantastic!

When the color cards come with the yarn, I’ll decide if the other colors are MY COLORS! :happydance:

I was happy to see the KnitPicks City Tweed. I’ve never been brave enough to make a sweater, but my son (of all people) wants me to knit him one. The pattern calls for Debbie Bliss yarn, and at that price, I wasn’t willing to try my first sweater. KnitPicks has made it much easier for me!

Knit Picks’ CITY TWEED is, IMHO, their first yarn that can compete with upscale tweeds like Debbie Bliss, Tahki and JoSharp (and others.)

The CITY TWEED price tag is competitive, but not cheap.

Sometimes you can get a DEBBIE BLISS tweed at WEBS for really competitive pricing cuz of that 25% discount they give you for orders over $120.

Just depends!

But I really like the fiber content of the new CITY TWEED!
Merino, alpaca and donegal. Seems like it will be a very ‘body friendly’ yarn. Soft, not scratchy.

Debbie Bliss Luxury Donegal Tweed is soft, too. But it’s a very “busy” tweed.
I made a denim blue CPH for myself using this DB tweed.

Made another CPH for my DD using Tahki Donegal Tweed. It knit up nicely, but it’s a scratchy yarn. I had to work hard to soften the fibers in the blocking phase, using UNICORN wash/rinse products.

I really like the classy, understated look of CITY TWEED.
I think it will knit beautifully with cables. At least the lighter colors will!

The merino is what got me. Throw in some alpaca and I’m :inlove:. Mine is on the way, so I’ll let you know after I give it a sqeeeeeeze.

Here are some good photos of my Snowshoe CITY TWEED:

And here is a photo of the HEAVY WORSTED yarn samples:

Heavy worsted has the Snowshoe colorway.

And here are the DK WEIGHT yarn samples:

Dk weight has Tahitian Pearl, but not Snoeshoe.

Each weight has some colors in common, and some
colors are only available in the particular weight.

:inlove:

How does it feel?

You can feel the merino! It feels soft and luscious, although a bit more ‘substantial’ than Malabrigo. CITY TWEED is a plied yarn, therefore it is going to feel more substantial. But that is a good thing!

You can feel the suppleness that fine fibers add to the quality of the yarn.

Kinda like the difference between a dry, wind chapped face…and a face that has been washed, misted and moisturized. Hours later you can still feel the difference!

Like that!

:blooby:I’ll just skip around here until mine arrives! :happydance:

My gauge swatch is complete (for TWIST cabled cardigan KAL over at Rav).

With a US8, 19st = 4 1/8" So, I had to knit the size 40" to get a size 46" bust measurement, but I’m just glad I could to the math. My row gauge is spot on: 24rows=4".

I’m done with the BACK ribbing. :happydance:

I have eight balls of the DK in Lemon Curd and I love the color. I like that it’s a golden yellow. I just bought this sweater pattern today online and I am hoping I can use the yarn for it…take a look…

I also ordered from Knit Picks the Nonna’s Garden Shawl kit. Can’t wait until it gets here. IT will be a challenge for me but I’m up for one.:knitting:

What a FANTASTIC pattern! You will have sooo much fun with it.
I totally see it in the lemon curd CITY TWIST, even more so than the lt blue featured!

WOW!
