Needles too short

I am knitting a blanket for my very first project and I need to cash on a long row of stitches but my needles are too short to hold them all. Do I need to buy longer needles?

Yep. I recommend circular needles if you’re going to make a whole blanket at once. If you don’t want to do that then you’ll probably have to find another pattern or alter it to make panels and sew them together.

Is it a baby blanket or full size? If it’s a baby blanket you can probably get away with a 40" circular. If it’s a full size throw/afghan then 52 or 60 is probably better.

Can you tell us the name and post a link if possible? It will help to make sure this is the correct info. Don’t post the entire pattern though.

I have had to try to make it bigger for my 6 month old nephew. I ended up calling my Mom and she agrees that circular needles should solve the problem.Thank you.

If you’re making that little sleeping bag you may not need them too long. 32-40 probably. I tend to like them longer because I do magic loop if it’s knit in the round. Also keeps stitches from falling off the end for knitting flat, but that’s personal choice.
