Reynolds Lopi, I even soaked it in hair conditioner . I know the more it gets washed the softer it will get but he didn’t want to wait. So I have an other two coats on needles for him right now.
Oh I couldn’t wear that either. I have trouble with most wools no matter how soft they feel either originally or after multiple washings. The problem for people with sensitive skin is often the guard hairs that wool/alpaca/mohair, etc have. It gives the yarn a pretty halo, but is evil for us sensitive skin types.
I hope whatever you’re knitting with now will work for him.
I t better:hair:I am using Berrocco Vintage Chunky on one and Araucania Limar on the other one. I’ll post photos when I am done which shouldn’t be to mush longer.
This is a Tomten Jacket and I am using Berrocco Vintage Chunky
This is Araucania Limar I am using for his Einstein Coat
Those two yarns look pretty good. I made a steeked sweater (still not steeked) with the Berrocco Vintage because I thought maybe it might work for me. If I ever get it steeked I’ll be able to test it.
The Araucania Limari looks pretty soft, too. Hope one of them will work for him!
I’ve got the Tomten on my list, too.
I’m working on the hood and then the sleeves on the Tomten Jacket .I’m trying to get it done so he can get some use out of it before summer.
That looks great! I hope he can wear it and it’s not itchy!
I started DH Tomten Jacket Dec 2011 and finished it on March 24th 12’
That looks great! How does he keep it closed?
He bought Antler Tip Buttons for me to but on it but I have to make up some I-Cord first to make it all come together. For now, he uses his hands
:teehee:
Now it is really complete!:woot::thud:
That looks great! Good choice for buttons and button holes!
Thank you , I’ve been searching for a thermal material to make a liner for him. His go to sweater has this thermal material liner in it and he really likes it. But I can not find this material.
This is one of many reasons why I love knitting…today it clicked for me and when you actually hear that “Click” sound it is awesome! I was looking at a few patterns of scarfs and I wanted to make one for myself that had large pockets on each end. But I wasn’t finding what I wanted. I sat here going over different knitting techniques that I have learned over the years and one of my all time favorite one is the start of the toe up sock. And then the ‘Click’ was heard !!!:woot:
Only thing is now to make the pocket on both ends it seems I will have to knit the scarf in two halves and seam it at the back of the neck. Not want I want to do but I am half way there on my idea. Oh and I want to make it a chunky yarn, cable pattern with a wide collar as well. I am open to any ideas on this .
If you don’t want a seam you can graft it. It’ll be harder or easier depending on what stitch you do, but it is doable!
This is my idea , not sure about the top or the bottom drawing but I like the rounded collar for either one. I’ve never tried to make my own pattern so I foresee a trip to my LYS . I can knit from a pattern using my increases and decrease, but I need someone to tell me when I use them. Just not that talented yet.
