what a great job on that Jacket Nan

I recently purchased a knitting book titled
How to use adapt and design knitting patterns, by Sam Elliott and Sidney Bryan
on page 23 they show this Hand operated yarn winder used to ply yarns to create heavier weights, but I can not find one anywhere to buy one. Please messages me if you know where one can be purchased.

My belt on my Strauch Jumbo Ball Winder was stretched out and while I did find that I could easily order one online my DH surprised me today by making not only one but 8 belts and for the less then what one would have cost me.
He used Superthane Ether 1/16” x10 x 1/8”OD Tubing. Cut it to size inserted in one end a small piece of weed whacker cord and super glue and walaaa! It actually works !
the red belt is the original strauch belt and the clear one is the one DH made.
One photo shows the connection he made (blue piece in clear tube)

That’s awesome! He must be handy like my husband!

Yeah, he’s like a real life ‘Tool Time’ Tim Allen LOL! Sometimes it can go wrong but most times he nails it!

DH’S Einstein Coat is done! Emma approves too!:woot:

That’s a great sweater and looks like it fits perfectly! Just in time for cool fall weather, too!

Emma is adorable!

Thanks, this is so heavy and warm that he’ll be able to wear it as a coat in the winter.

I now can start on mine. I have 40 hanks in the same yarn, 20 in Jean color blue and 20 in a raspberry and lavender and specks of black for two Einstein Coats for myself. I started the Blue last night.

I think I am going to knit Emma a coat as well. I love this yarn and this pattern is unbelievably simple to knit although you have to like the mindless garter stitching . I have the pattern memorized now that I have knitted 5 of these. One of these days I really have to try my hand at something more challenging like a Cabled Coat or sweater. I have my eye on a Cabled Jacket in one of Elizabeth Zimmerman’s books although I really hate trying to follow her way of knitting patterns.

Wow! That is so pretty!

very pretty shawl!! I love the colours!

Very nice. They look warm and comfy. You did great!
Good color choices too.

Very cool! I’ve only made the clogs.

I made the clogs for myself but DH doesn’t wear clogs.

I made some for both of us. I was making some for me and he wanted some so I knit them, but he’s never worn them.

Recycled a pair of leather Moccasins

Clever!

I only had 7 hanks left of the yarn that I used to knit DH’S Einstein Coat so I made him a scarf.

:yay: love it!
