One more on the slippery slope to addiction. Don’t ya love it?

Seriously, he does seem very interested and not having to wait on mom would be a plus - kids are kids no matter how old they are or how grown up they think they’ve gotten. :eyes: It took me a lot of tries before I ever got the crochet thing going. At that time knitting was too many moving parts: 2 needles, 2 yarn ends, 8 fingers, 2 thumbs. If he gets crochet to work for him knitting Continental shouldn’t be too hard to pick up. I still can’t knit English style well, 2 many moving parts and not enough coordination and maybe fine motor control in my hands.

My son is too far away for me to show him stuff, probably just as well. He’s learned from videos same as me.

Surgery is almost done on the Gargoyle ,but for reason unknown to me I’ve really been dragging my feet on getting this guy finished. I think it’s because I’m afraid my gargoyle may not look as good as the others that people have knitted . I am absolutely horrible at seaming ,it’s never invisible to the eye. I would have gladly paid someone to seam this up for me but then I wouldn’t feel right in saying I knitted it ,when I had someone else seam it for me.

Anyway, I’m taking off next week so I can get things ready for Thanksgiving . The kids and their families will be here and theres so much to do .

I’m always trying to get one of my kids to learn knitting and this is the closest I’ve gotten so far . How long has your son been knitting and what has he knitted ?

I think he started about 6 weeks ago and has made a dishcloth or two and has what he’s calling a towel OTN now. He decided to learn right out of the blue it seemed to me.

Sounds like my son. I was shocked when he asked me to teach him to knit and thrilled at the same time. He’s going to even buy his own yarn:yay: I’ve tried to get the girls to knit but my daughter had her hand smashed in a motor cycle accident years ago and my DIL just gave up. Still trying to get hubby back to knitting, his problem was he knitted so tight you couldn’t move the stitches on the needle ,he got the concept of knitting and liked it but I just couldn’t get him to loosen up the stitches.

Going to try this tonight .

Tahdahhhh, the head is done , not so much the rest. But I am hoping to pull it altogether this weekend !

I hope the designer is ok with a couple of changes I made. I needle felted the eyes and tongue and added the hair.

WOW!!!

L  OVE L  OVE L  OVE him! What’s his name, he has to have a name.

The designer should be thrilled to see how inspirational the pattern is.

I like [I]Goliath .

I was really worried that the designer of this pattern would be offended with the changes I made because I added the needle felting in the eye area and added the glass eyes and hair and needle felted the tongue . I showed her what I did and she was very pleased with what I did. Hubby wanted his gargoyle to have a more menacing look which the pattern didn’t have.

I’m glad the designer is OK with it. Since it’s your gargoyle you should be able to do whatever you want. She still gets credit for the basic model. Goliath is just too C   L. You do amazing stuff.

Even though Goliath looks like he has his head on his shoulders …I needed a break and just set it there for the time being. Still have to attach the head and wings and tail.

Oh, wow! He’s terrific, modest too. :teehee:

I posted photos of Goliath on my Facebook and someone post ’ that is so ugly’ so I guess I did better then I thought ! I didn’t want him to be all cuties cuddly 'awwww ’ looking

 I can’t find Goliath when I click your sig link. I saw lots of other wonderful hand crafted things, including what I think is the Einstein coat. Your felteds are marvelous.

I haven’t put Goliath on my Flick link yet. He’s on my Ravelry project page though.

:hair::wall::hair:trying to post photos and they won’t let me
