for the lion brand amazing, you might also try fred meyer/kroger if one is near you… last week i got 2 skeins each of 2 colors (ruby and rainforest), at fred meyer here in yakima. it was on clearance with tags, and then had signage it was an additional 50% off, maybe even 60%, i can’t find the receipt right now… the colors at my store were limited, which is nothing new for yakima, but maybe another store would have more options. i didn’t know what i was going to do with it, but a sale is a stash is a hoard…
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OOEXPLY2EDg is seeming like a good entrelac tutorial. it’s nearly a half hour, but she’s very methodical, uses different colors to show the changes, and the camera work is steady/clear.
she’s also got a video on a cool feature called a ‘garter tab cast on’ for top-down shawls. where you’re casting on like 3-4 stitches, knitting 6-8 rows in garter (for 3-4 ridges) then you pick up 3-4 stitches along the side and 3-4 stitches from your cast on, giving you 3-4 times as many stitches total as your cast on, and from there you keep working your pattern. it’s pretty ignenious. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VH5qAG0qODU for that one.
X, you are so much nicer than me. I figure if anybody is really interested they’ll run down the sequels themselves. Now that you mention it I have done entrelac in the round with her video, one of the pieces I frogged mostly because I was unhappy with the yarn I used. Garter tabs are fascinating, have you tried it yet?
I’ve decided your stash on steroids is fantasy, no pics, no proof. :roflhard:
Nana - Entrelac Crochet Blanket Part 1 technically it’s Tunisian crochet. X can’t look at it because he’s afraid of crochet. :teehee:
GG, I can’t tell you how many times I’ve said that exact same thing at work ‘you are so much nicer than me’ but I’m glad X shared with me, thank X , and GG thank you for the entrelac crochet blanket link .
If/when I find out that someone really wants more links I’ll run them down. I’ve run down so many that I think were never used that mostly I don’t bother a lot. For you, I would help track down anything! Some of us will because we know that the favor will be returned - like X finding all those lovely links. If I come across something I think he’ll want to see, I let him know. I think that the entrelac video says it’s part 1 so finding part 2 and so on usually isn’t much trouble.
I made 2 crochet entrelac afghans, one for each grandchild. At least one of them lived in the car for a while because he wanted something Gramma made with him, they both still get used years later.
Did not know X is a man :noway: I just said to my hubby ’ hey babe here’s a guy that knits ’ I have tried to teach this man but he’s better at buying me yarn then he is knitting it. He has given it a try, but he knits to to tight.
The drive turned into shopping, I hate hate hate shopping. Hubby is retired for 17 years now and I am still (after raising children and taking care of a house and family) working. So he has total control of the kitchen and grocery shopping as he has been the cook now for 17 years . If I butter toast I consider that cooking nowadays. But shopping is long and tedious with him sometimes. We can’t just go to one place and shop …oh no no no . So it takes hours and I hate it I hate it I hate it !
My 38 yr. old son just learned to knit.
Shopping is nasty, I hate it. If I could I’d order groceries online and have them delivered except that they’d cost more.
I cook every day because boiling water to make coffee is cooking.
Just stepped out to take Emma out for her last potty break and there was this huge Buck standing in my front yard  I’ve only seen that twice living here now for almost 40 years ! What a surprise
I got a recipe online for Wendy’s Chili . It was the prefect day here for it too. I love spaghetti with Wendy’s Chili poured over it and topped with shredded cheese. Nummnummnumm!
You’re making Potato Bread :noway: ? My GG (gumpygramma) would make homemade Potato Bread and Potato Soup every Saturday for supper OMG what a comfort food that was.
Seriouly ! Scratch Biscuits  I have yet in all my years figured out how to make biscuits from scratch . I’ve made plenty of hockey pucks but never got the hang of scratch biscuits. I love love love Bob Evan’s Biscuits . I’m a sausage gravy and biscuits breakfast gal .
And there’s nothing wrong with breakfast for dinner
I got the invite but the driving directions were missing. I used to make killer buttermilk biscuits, never got good at baking powder biscuits. I had mashed potatoes and sausage gravy last week. Back when Darigold buttermilk was really good stuff I made to die for buttermilk pancakes from the recipe on the carton. Never once had to throw one of those babies out.
@Nana No not potato bread, mine has never come out well. I use the water potatoes were boiled in as the liquid, I try not to get any potato in the bread. I was thinking spud soup earlier but the water was already assigned to the bread.
I thought I’d share pictures of the sky I took a little while ago. I wondered what it looked like across the pass from me. The first one is looking east and the other two are to the north and taken just a minute or so apart but of the same section of sky. I heard distant thunder but didn’t see lightning.
