While we’re talking techniques, has anyone done Double knitting? Here’s a great video from Liat Knitfreedom

There is always something to learn

english, with the flicking technique, like many do (staci from verypink.com comes to mind)…

Yeah me too. I started back in 2004 by taking beginners knitting class and my plan was to learn to knit Continental but the knitting instructor only knew English and I had already paid for the classes. So I’m English as well.

Thanks for the link. I’ve seen a lot of videos on dk but I think when I finally feel up to trying it I’ll start like she shows. I really like Liat’s videos too. Another I like is iknitwithcatfur on youtube. Stacy with VPK is great but I have a hard time watching her knit, it kind of makes me queasy. I tried her way and I just can’t get it to work. One day something will click. I hope. If you ever need a CO check oftroy. That woman has more COs than could ever possibly be needed.

A flicker without any yarn.

Thanks for the link GG,Your sample look great , now I have to get the yarn :x: Don’t you just love saying that , I know I do . Hubby thought I had yarn to use but I told him this had to be special yarn :out:

Forgot to mention, my daughter got her package today:yay: She loves her Cable Afghan:woot:and according to her I am the most talented mother she knows. Her favorite color in the afghan was the celery green. Guess what I have tons of it left too. Someone at the VFW where she goes tried to steal the shawl I knitted for her. It was a friend that just loved it , she asked to borrow it while they were there and the next thing Kim knew was her friend had wore it home. The ladies asked her where she bought it from and when she told them her mom knitted it for her they all said “Do you think she’d knit one for me” :noway: But guess what, Kimi’s going to get yet another surprise gift …yep ! a celery green shawl:rofl: Makes a mom proud when a daughter appreciates her knitting ! After all isn’t that what it’s all about:thumbsup:

I mean that they are mismounted. Wow, there were alot of comments!

AHA!!! By golly, I’ve got it! Thank you all for the info.

GG, mismounted?:whoosh: You mean the leg of the stitch is wrong way round ? Now I have to try it just to see that.

I assumed she meant the legs were on the wrong side of the needle.

A friend posted this link on my facebook page because she know I knit and thought I might be interested it making this . The yarn used in the pattern is Noro Silk Garden, color 87 . She was right I am very interested even with 4 other WIP . I found Lion Brand Amazing Arcadia yarn which is much cheaper and give the same affect but the Noro Silk Garden looks so much better. So here’s my dilemma…do I cheap out are charge ahead. Problem is I’ve never tried knitting anything like this scarf before. You all have given me great links to learn how to knit Entrelac ,but what if I can’t do it. Hubby is thinking I should buy the cheaper yarn first to see if I can make this. But I love the colors on the one shown. He’s looking on ebay to see if he can find a deal on the Noro for me. He usually is great at finding yarn cheaper on there. Fingers crossed he finds some :pray:

That’s what I thought . So I have to try it to see what it looks like . I’m such a visual baby

I simply Adore this group of men singing Amazing Grace . Gives me the chill bumps .

Not to put too fine a point on it and be blunt … have you tried entrelac at all yet? Just try a small piece with yarn you already have and see if you want to do it at all. I found I didn’t like doing it enough to take on a big project. I might change my mind.

Yeah, I meant was the stitch twisted, legs on wrong sides of needle, whatever. We can see why I’ll never write tutorials!

I’ve been reading in another forum about fulling/felting and guess I’ll frog the piece I’ve started and change to larger needles. I decided to make a pot holder. Maybe I’ll change that to a coaster since I’m frogging.

Lovely.

GG, I did try once when I first saw Entrelac . I didn’t get far until I decided I couldn’t do it. But with the links posted here and more years of knitting experience at knitting I think I might be up for a challenge . I have to admit I love a challenge ! Your right , I have stash yarn and I need to sit down with some of the links and just see if I can master this challenge . I think the first time round I was only read from a pattern and I found it so confusing . Video clips are awesome . Hummm…I wonder if my girl Liat has one this topic .

A quick search didn’t give me a Liat entrlac video. As I recall I worked through it along with the iknitwithcatfur video. You’ll find one you like.

It’s no surprise your daughter loves her afghan. The shawl will be just as welcome and loved. My granddaughter wore a sweater I made from cheap cotton to school and was asked where she bought it. No, I’d not make one for her friends.

Ok GG, you got me going on the full/felt topic . So I googled it because I’d never heard of fulling .

Thanks !

Thanks for the link. I’ll read it later.

I just watched the iknitwithcatfur video on entrelac . I like how clear the video is as you can see ever move she makes easily. I think I can,I think I can,I think I can,I think I can.

Well it a beauitful fall day here and I want to sit and knit but Hubby whats to go for a ride . Wonder if he’d be offend if I took my knitting along . His rides can be long and I never know where we’ll end up. Last time I brought my knitting along he was not happy because he wanted me to enjoy the day . I wanted to say then maybe you should have let me stay home so I could knit.
