Hello everyone! :waving:
I have a strong desire to give a baby blanket (or two) to the Afghans for Afghans campaign. They need 30 x 40 inch blankets, made from wool yarn. And they need them by May.
(I have a month!) :help:
You can help me out by doing any of these things:
Buy one skein of Lamb’s Pride Bulky yarn (any color, except light shades), and mail it to me by April 1st.
OR
Buy one skein of Lamb’s Pride Bulky yarn (any color, except light shades), and make as many 10 inch squares as you can. Then, mail them to me by April 15th.
(I have several skeins that were given to me by knitting4babybear last year. I plan on using all of my skeins to make as many blankets as I can.)
If you send 10 inch squares, I will seam them together into 30 x 40 inch baby blankets.
If you send yarn, I will use it to make striped blankets or squares. Or, it will be used as seaming yarn for the squares.
With all of us working together, I’m sure we’ll have a few blankets ready in time.
I hope that some of you can help!

I might even plan a seaming party at the end of April for anyone in my area. :woohoo:
I heard from one knitter, who said that she would try to knit one square. Thanks so much!
I’m about halfway through one square myself, so now I just need 10 more to have enough for a baby blanket.
I’ve got about 15 skeins of Lamb’s Pride Bulky, so I certainly have enough to make a couple blankets on my own!
If anyone lives in my area, and would like to knit a square using a skein of my yarn, let me know.
By the way, if you knit a square for the blanket, use size 11 needles, and stick with a basic design. They don’t want any lacy blankets.
I’ll see if I can get a skein and make up a few squares for you. I’ll let you know in a week or so. I’ll probably have to go to my LYS to get some. I’m almost positive walmart doesn’t carry that brand!

Thanks Danielle!
And you’re right - you can only get it at a yarn shop.
So far, I’ve done pretty well!
Last night, I finished my 3rd square! :woohoo:
Now, I just need 9 more squares, and I’ll have enough to seam together for a baby blanket.

Sandy,
I’m good for three. I’ve got Lamb’s Pride Bulky here at home…some great colors. I will get on it this weekend and post ASAP.

I’ve got some Lamb’s pride bulky. So how many stitches do ya CO to make a 10 inch square? What size needles ya using?
Yay! :cheering: Thank you, Gail!
Woo Hoo! :woohoo:
I’m using the basic dishcloth pattern, starting at the corner with 3 stitches casted on.
Here’s the design I’m using , written out:
Lamb’s Pride Bulky Squares for Baby Afghan
Using Lamb’s Pride Bulky yarn, and size 11 needles:
Cast on 3 stitches.
1st Row: Knit 1 stitch, Knit Front & Back of 2nd stitch, Knit to end of row.
Repeat 1st row until you have 40 stitches on the needle.
Then, knit one row.
Next Row: Knit 1 stitch, Knit 2 Together, Knit to end of row.
Repeat last row until you have 3 stitches on the needle.
Bind off.
Yes it is!
Now, you might not have to go until there are 40 stitches. That’s what I came up with my gauge. The square should measure 10 inches, so just measure along the side until it’s 10 inches.
OY! I keep getting more than 10 inches or less than 10 inches. I think my yarn is getting funky cuz I keep frogging and trying agian so I should try another skein. OK here we go, I’m gonna get it right this time!!!
Bless your heart!
It’s okay if it’s off by a little.
The squares will pull each other into shape.
Sandy,
I’ve finished three squares for this blanket. Would you pm your address to me? Thanks!
Gail
Yay! :woohoo:
Now, we are HALFWAY THERE! :cheering:
Thank you SO much, Gail.
(You are always so generous and kind.)
I’m almost finished with my 4th, so now we only need 5 more squares to make a baby blanket!
If I get to the local yarn store this weekend, I will get some yarn and make some more. What is your deadline again?

I need skeins of yarn by April 1st, or completed squares by April 15th.
DONE! Ok now where do I send it?
Your square looks wonderful!
Now, we just need 4 more squares!
Yay! Today, I received 3 squares from gmmarton!!!
They are beautiful!!
