Knitty Surprises

We have an Electoral College here – votes are determined by the number of birthdays you’ve had. ;-)[/quote]

I LOVE that! And when they say it doesn’t make sense, or it isn’t fair, you can just say, DUH! it’s based on the electoral college!

:roflhard: :roflhard: :roflhard: :roflhard:

ExACTly!!

(See … the E.C. is good for something!)

That’s my problem with it. As a mom to three children, I would never put an outfit on my child that tied around the neck like that. (Even my bibs all were velcro.) For a number of reasons. One, who wants to be constantly tying that up. And two, I am sure my kids would find a way to wrap that around the baby’s neck. However I don’t think it was immodest or inappropriate. I just don’t particularly like it.

Ohh…I like that . We have always said we have a benevolent dictatorship in our house (and yes, even the 5 year old can give a basic definition of what that means). But I like this better.

Yes, and w/ the three kids, you still have no danger of them out-voting you!

:?? <– tries to do the math to figure out when the kids will be collectively older than the two of you together. Can that happen??

I have to throw in my 2 cents worth, I guess!! This thread gives me a lot of hope, actually!! I notice what designers are trying to put our little girls in, much less women who are old enough to know better!! I wondered if I was in the minority about letting our little girls know what’s proper dress and what is not!

Even with the Skirt of Horrors, the Inappropriate halter–and the iffy tea cozy—Knitty managed to give me a good look at what some of us think about where our kids are concerned…that gave me a big smile today!! The news is filled with sexual predators on the internet, in the malls, next-door, etc. I don’t think you can ever be too careful when it comes to little girls OR boys–these sick people are finding new ways to exploit and prey on our little ones everyday. Unfortunately, they are the ones who cannot protect themselves at all…so we MUST do it for them, IMHO!!

Well as usual, we’ve all hijacked another thread. :roflhard:

My mom (who is a seriously raging liberal hippie) raised me to NEVER judge anyone by how they look or what they wear. But she constantly reminded me that everyone else would probably judge me that way.

What is funny is that I am obsessed with making it nearly impossible to judge what kind of person I am by how I dress. I tend to dress the exact opposite of my personality.

I don’t know where I am going with this other than it amuses me that the most uptight, conservative moms at our school are the ones whose daughters are all tarted up! Every free dress day I have to go to the headmaster and turn in all the little girls (4th and 5th graders) who are wearing makeup. (not allowed at our school).

I am very sad that my boobs are saggin and I’m starting to get wrinkles, and my butt hangs down to my knees, but I am able to deal with it a lot better than some of my female friends whose only worth in life is what they look like. I just feel like we’re sending a generation of women to slaughter.
