Joel, you DO know what polygamy is don’t you? One spouse too many, same as monogamy.
harumph! they should call it Manogamy… one man too many! :roflhard:
:roflhard: :roflhard:
My title is SS… "Spousal Secretary"
My MIL suddenly began getting birthday cards and mother’s day gifts after dh and i met… :roflhard: :roflhard:
hehehe My DH calls me his “sexatary”
He gets someone to send out all the greeting cards and take his phone calls… and well… other perks
Well, at current moment, I’m holding off until I know more about the job situation. I don’t want to make the appointments and discover my insurance will change. My biggest issue, is the stuff I need to do is mostly preventative or informative, so I put it off until there’s a serious problem. Here is what I need to do:
- I can’t remember my last physical.
- I haven’t checked my cholesterol since like 1990.
- I’ve had an issue with slight shaking, personally, I think it’s a combo of stress and caffeine but my dad has this issue too.
- I need to check for another allergy. (I suspect I’m allergic to some plant out here.)
- Now, I need to get tested for this blood disorder.
- Based on recent self testing on some of these blood pressure testing machines, I have Pre-Hypertension.
- I’m 4-6 years overdue on getting my eyes checked. (Yeah, I know that’s optometrist, but I have vision coverage too.)
- I’m also years overdue for a visit to the dentist (and yes I have dental coverage).
Uh… Aaron… Are you having problems that we need to discuss? Do we need to sit you and the wifey down on one of them comfy couches? :roflhard:
My wife is my scheduler, business consultant, fashion consultant, hair cutter, she makes sure I take time to eat, she pays the bills and does our finances and on occasion yeah… perks too. :roflhard:
I think I need a wife!
I was just going to say that Ingrid!! I need a wife so I can have more time to :XX: :rofling:
I had to laugh my butt off the yesterday… my wife in a totally unrelated conversation said that she needs a wife. And I hadn’t even told her about this topic yet.
Other news: knitting is going slow again. I have gained back a little bit more weight about 12 pounds total. Kids are home. (yea!!!) I’m still waiting to find out about my interview from Friday… and another recruiter (different company) contacted me today.
I also found some very cool patterns that I’m going to copy for projects in the future. I’m so ready to go home and knit but not sure I’ll get opportunity to do so tonight. I’m probably forgetting to mention something but I can’t tell you what it would be at this moment.
So until later…
Hey Joel, I’m sure you’ve probably talked about this before, but what are you doing to gain weight? My DH battles the same weight issues, and the only thing he can figure is that he needs to lift weights, which he never does for one reason or another.
Joel, since DotMom is sending her extra “love” to KK to use for boobs, I don’t mind sending you some of my extra!!!
I’me overdue for the dentist, too… I have a cavity, and I’m dreading it starting to hurt (which has to be soon!) because I’ll have to go then. I HATE the dentist!!!
Good luck with the jobs!
PS
My Dh drinks LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOTS of beer to gain weight!
my hubby eats my cookin’ to gain weight!
I don’t do as much weight lifting as I should… but I’ve started trying to get more active which is really both a good thing and bad for gaining weight. Muscle is more metabolic than fat, which means it burns calories faster. But, it is also more dense, which means its also heavier for the same size. Or in my case, heavier even though it’s thinner.
So, basically, I eat… ALOT! lol Because I have a desk job, I am trying to get back into working out more. If I could motivate myself to get out of bed early enough in the morning, I’d go workout before work… but I drive 50 miles one way so my commute is already a solid hour. So, for me to be at work by about 8, I’m leaving my house at 7, and most days stumbling out of bed somewhere just after 6 am. (It takes me a while to be coherent.)
When I get to bed early (by 10pm) and actually get a decent night sleep, sometimes I’ll get up somewhere around 5:30 which is when the Rec Center opens… the reality is I need to get up about 5, if i want to get into the RC when it opens, get in a 30-45 minute workout and still get showered and make it to work by 8.
:roflhard: I’ve had plenty of those days… but not recently. Too expensive for one thing, and maybe I’m just getting old, but I don’t handle doing 16 beers at a sitting like I did in college. On occasion, I’ll drink a beer or two.
Well… I managed to get up about 5:15 this morning. Last night was not a restful night, but that’s ok. In a normal situation, I’d be seriously considering going to the Rec Center tonight, but because tonight is Back To School night for my oldest daughter (going into 2nd grade), we’ll be going there after I get home from work.
I sent off a thank you letter to my latest interview… hope to hear something from them very soon. I don’t mind what I’m doing now for work but I want this other possibility. (It would be a payraise and about half the commute.)
Wonder if I can squeeze in any time to knit tonight…
Do not ask if you have time to knit! Rather, ask what time do you have for anything besides knitting! Carpe Diem! Seize the Day! KNIT!
LOL!
I find myself becoming more of a sit down person now that I have an office job, and all of my hobbies (except for archery and swimming) involve being stationary. So I have to force myself to exercise. I do no laughing Tae-Bo. It’s fast and fun, so it’s my kind of stuff. Find something you enjoy doing and it won’t be so hard to start.
Also, weight lifting is good, but if you want to burn fat you need to do at least 30 minutes of cardio at your maximun workout heart-rate. Which means it has to be working you.
Also, just as a side note, serious crafters and muscicians (I am both
) often suffer from cramps in the smaller muscles, like in the hands and arms. Tai-Chi is good for flexing and stretching the lesser-focused upon muscles that are usually worked in your standard fitness regime.
It’s interesting how fast my life can change… lol
It now sounds like I probably won’t make my daughter’s school night thing, it starts like 20 minutes after I leave here… I won’t even be halfway home when it’s starting up. Even the second event at the school will occur before I could make it there so I may go home and start knitting something or clean the house… not yet sure which.
In other news, kudos and thanks to Amber (Ennormir) for the idea of the new title of this blog… definately more appropriate for the forum than it was.
FG, I was thinking a little more about my gaining weight… another change that I’ve been doing is to eat more protein and drink alot more water (two of the major ingrediants for building muscle). I’ve been making much more of a concious effort to ensure my body is getting more protein, along with the veggies, etc.
Amber, Can’t say I’ve ever tried Tae-Bo or Tai-Chi… although there are days I’m amazed I don’t have carpel tunnel… especially since I do programming, in addition to the occasional chance to play and compose music, and throw in knitting of course.
One thing I can say is that my physical activity has increased… even if it’s not in the weight room, I’ve been doing more swimming too. I even tried water aerobics Gasp a couple of times.
oh that’s cute! a wonder we didkni’t come up with that earlier. I think we should work “knit” into every possible sentence, even if it means we’re making up a word.
Well, I got some house cleaning done and I did get to do some knitting too. Due to that knitting I will be posting a similar post in the how-to section as well as here.
I’ve been working on this Cast-On / Bind-Off necklace pattern (I have the link somewhere further up in this blog) and discovered two things.
One, I have a tendency to bind off too tightly.
Two, I have no clue what I’m doing wrong with the last loop of the Bind-Off. I must admit I’m seriously looking at that Single Crochet Bind-off as an option.
have you tried binding off with larger needles? Like 3 or 4 sizes bigger?
what’s up with the last loop??
Thanks Joel for the advice - DH probably doesn’t eat quite enough to gain weight for fear of the skinny guy gut. He takes the dogs for a walk or two everyday, but I’m sure that’s not enough to build up the old muscle. He used to lift weights back in the day, but we live too far away from a health center to make it worthwhile (I was paying $60/month for a Y membership that was not being used by either of us).
Oh, and Binky, if my husband only ate my cooking, he’d only be eating like 2x a month! :roflhard: I am definitely not the chef in this house!
I’ve actually had the skinny guy gut before (including very small love handles). It’s a weird thing and not one I want to repeat. Tell your hubby to eat a LOT of food (preferably not junk food) and then when you are at your local Wallyworld… pick up one of those big exercise ball things… and like a couple of weights that he can hold against his chest (to increase resistance). He can do full motion crunches with his lower back on the ball or crunches laying on the floor with his legs on top of the ball. (Do them to failure, it’s basically impossible to overtrain your abs.) Best thing… it doesnt require a health center. That’s something he can do at home.
