I REALLY regret missing it when it was in Chicago…
Actually… I havent gained weight. I’m still hovering about the same weight I have been for several months.
Oh, how wonderful that you’re taking a long weekend, Joel!! :happydance: :happydance:
I would love to see Body World. It will never come anywhere near here, though. (Maybe Atlanta)
I hope you get some time to knit during your time off. Remember, it is very good for you!
Ok… Body World TOTALLY ROCKS!!!
That was neat. Then to top it off we went to a few stores afterwards… (i’m not much of a shopper but wife is). Anywho, we got a bunch of scrapbooking stuff for her and we got a really cool knitting book for me.
It’s the first book in the series and its all about the k st. It basically walks you through a LOT of patterns where you are basically doing garter stitch for everything. Then it introduces more techniques while you continue to work on the garter stitch. I’m kind of stoked about it. I love this site and the videos but I’m far from good as a knitter… my stitches are still uneven (could be I don’t get enough practice… lol) and my purls are embarrassing.
Geez, do I see how that could get taken out of context by members on here… :roflhard:
Anyway, so having a book with like 30 garter stitch type patterns (ranging from scarfs to sweaters/clothes) to really work on even-ing up my knit stitch is a good thing. (Yes KK, I’m still fighting my perfectionism.)
I also got to stop at the CompUSA and take a look at some of the technology and software that I want… didn’t buy any yet but got to look and compare anyway.
(For those of you who won’t understand what I’m going to say… I’m sorry…) I want to dual boot using either Linspire or Xandros Linux on my slave and keep XP Pro on my primary. Still deciding which Linux I want… and of course $$ is always an issue.)
I’ve always been curious about how Linux is different from Windows or Mac.
When I was downloading OpenOffice.org, I noticed that there are some open source platforms available, and IIRC a Linux-compatible-ish (??) was one of them.
Glad to hear you and your wife had a good time, Joel!! That book that you got sounds great.
I didn’t understand a word of the Linux stuff, but my DH would.
That’s correct Lisa. And I actually have both MS Office and Open Office 2.0 on my computer right now. The Linux version of OOO 2.0 still can open MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint files. And it takes up WAY less room on the hard drive and less RAM to run too…
Most people don’t realize what options are out there available to them for free or very little cost. That’s part of what I want to change with my business. I want to provide them with the knowledge of what is out there AND then train them how to use it best for their situation.
For those of you that are curious about Linux, I actually do have a FREE Training module on my biz website… its nothing fancy… not yet anyway. I’m still working on the modules, the website, and the business.
I figured I’d take a moment to post a couple of pics from our Day Trip to the Denver Museum of Nature and Science (where they held the Body Worlds)… they wont let you take pics in the actual exhibit but… these are from the day.
In a different part of the museum… Space Odyssey.
I didn’t know about that stuff either! I read a weekly column called On Computers, which is where I learned about OpenOffice and free antivirus and anti-spy software.
I purchased a laptop after Christmas and it came with hardly any software. (which was great because it saved me $$$!)
It now contains OpenOffice, Mozilla Firefox*, free antivirus, free anti-spyware, and probably other stuff that’s not popping to mind right this minute. I will never again purchase software before making REALLY DARN
I tell everyone about it, too. I’ve installed the OOO and the free AV on all of my mom’s computers.

- I am alwasy reading how FF is safer to use for browsing. I wish I could convert more people, because I love tabs and extensions are AWESOME!!!

I’m have 2 tabs open in FF right now… I also run excellent Free Software for the anti-spyware… been using Norton for Anti-Virus but might go look at alternatives.
I love the new signature Joel! :roflhard:
 I have 14 tabs open.
“Hi, my name is Lisa, and I’m an FF tab addict.”
The antivirus I have is Avast! Anti-Virus Home Edition.
:roflhard:
I’ll have to go check that one out.

It’s meant for kids, but when we saw them at Ikea we thought it might work. It was only $3.99 so it was worth a try and it keeps it off the floor, out of bags and multiple drawers, plus I can organize it somewhat. We’ll see how it goes. If it doesn’t work I can always give to my niece for her stuff animals.
Storage tube thingy
So I have a few of these I haven’t set up yet. Do you have any trouble with dust. Living in the desert and all this is a concern.
Us mac users have been tab browsing for like, years now! Is there any other way, really?
I’ve been exiled from Macs for about 5 years now. :verysad:
I flat out will not use anything else in my home and am in the process of converting our school. Our best friends just bought one after having to replace their hard drive for the third time this year because of virii.
I know the platform will not stay virus free forever, but for now, I likeded it!
