Thanks girls and I know you are right, Kelly. Parts of the sock looked okay, but I was having problems with the way things were done. Plus, my needles were too large so nothing was as tight as it should be. I’m okay with it.

Yippee! I ran a lifeline through the stitches at the bottom of my sweater so I could do the collar. I finished the collar and tried it on and it fits perfectly!! :cheering: :cheering: :cheering: Now I’ve put the needles back through the bottom to add another 2-3 inches then I’ll do the sleeves! :happydance:

I decided to repost my blog, I had posted it once and thought it would be too much to do but then I, as I stated, got jealous and really wanted a blog again. So now I’m trying to read blogs from the beginning which doesn’t always work when there are HUNDREDS OF PAGES! ha But anyhoo,
I enjoyed your 100 list and you and I have some things in common, esp age! Glad you liked New York! I’ve been here since the 70s and wanted to move away sometimes, then went on a trip and couldn’t wait to get back. Oh, I lost 25 lbs 2 years ago, but I’ve regained some (too much) so I have to start exercising hard again. And I’ve always had 2 cats!

Your bag is beautiful! I’ve yet to make one like that and need to! Sorry about your sock struggle. You just need to do it some more, I can’t get enough of them. I always want socks on the needles and have made, um, 2 for DH, 2 for me and some little toeless sandal slippers. Do you use metal? I use size 3 usually which is comfortable.
Oh wait… you have to see these since you live in CA maybe you could wear them (although they are pretty weird on the feet) But funny to make. Ummmm now that I think about it, you’d better wait a bit coz they were HARD making those little individual big toe holes/holders…big toes.

Glad I read through your blog coz I caught that very interesting tip from Ingrid about knitting sleeves first. How smart is that. I just completed a big bulky vest for my DH and a sweater is my next challenge.

I can knit small diameter stuff, the socks were just driving me nuts. They were big enough for Hagrid and I wasn’t thrilled with the way they were coming out. In a way I felt like a quitter, but it really wasn’t that… I figure life’s too short to knit stuff I’m not happy with or having fun doing so I gave it up. I have some sock yarn so when I get some small needles with long cords I’ll give it a try again. Maybe a different pattern, too.
My daughter likes Ann Arbor a lot, but she really, really loves NYC. She had to go to a conference at Princeton the weekend of the blizzard. She went a day early to visit friends in NYC and ended up having her flight out of JFK cancelled so she got to spend an extra day there. As much as I’d like to have her end up nearby I know she probably won’t be. She loves San Francisco too so there is always the chance she’ll end up on this coast at least. :cheering:
I have so many things I want to knit, but I’ve got a fire under me now that I know the sweater will fit! I hope those sleeves don’t take too long or cause problems. :rollseyes:

Quirky’s thread about the lemon cake made me think of something, but I didn’t want to hijack her thread.
My stepmom is a great cook and has oodles of recipes. Over the years I’ve occasionally asked for one and she has given it to me in an offhand way by saying “it’s the one in the Better Homes and Garden’s Cookbook” or whatever. Somehow it never tasted quite the same and when I’d mention this she’d ask if I used real butter or whatever, but never pulled out the recipe. She had mentioned btw that she didn’t like to give out recipes because other people claim them as their own, but I somehow figured this wouldn’t apply to me since I was family. (Dad and she have been married 35yrs) A few years ago we were at their house before Christmas and I again brought up recipes. She said she wasn’t giving any out. I was sorta joking and asked if she was going to take them with her when she was gone. She pretty much said she was. Then all hell broke loose…she accused me of giving out one her recipes to my grandmother (my dad’s mom)!!! Frankly I doubt that I did, but if I did…it was my grandma for crying out loud! To preserve family peace I just said I didn’t remember it, but that I was sorry. I never asked about recipes again. Sheesh… what is wrong with people. :rollseyes:
It’s a recipe. You cook it, you eat it, you do the dishes. I just don’t get why people get protective of them. Unless you’re the Soup Nazi and your living depends on it!
ETA–I love when one of my kids asks me for one of my ‘recipes’ because it means they actually like something I’ve cooked enough to want it at home.
I guess it’s because they don’t want the other person to claim it as there own and give it to some resturaunt? :??
This reminds me of when my mom tried to get my great aunts fruit cocktail cake recipie off of her, and after having fits for many years, she finally gave in. And then a month later, my mom lost the recipie. :rollseyes:

I am doing my sweater sleeves with it and it’s just wonderful! No ladders and I can set it down anywhere w/o having to worry about needles slipping out or getting stuck like a porcupine! I’m about 6-7 inches into the first sleeve and I can’t wait to finish it now so I can wear it! :cheering: :cheering: :cheering: :cheering:
