Dang cat… she threw up twice at about 5 am and after I’d cleaned that up and had gone back to bed she jumped on the bed and did it again… ON the bed! ~sigh~ so of course I was too wide awake to go back to sleep and was up at 5:45. Gonna be a long day…I’m used to sleeping in .
So…anyhoo…I’ve finally started on the chemo cap. I gave up on anything other than a basic ribbed edge/stockinette hat pattern with that cotton. It was driving me nuts. You know I never realized how it is working with different yarns. I figured you just picked one up and knit. Now I’m definitely becoming a yarn snob and have found that cotton is much harder to work with. LOL
Also about 4 in into the body of my sweater and I want to do the Knitting Olympics, too. I have a feeling I’m about to really delve into UFO territory if I’m not careful… :roflhard:
DH is off to Tucson for 4 days… ahhhh… means I can eat, sleep, knit or whatever whenever I want! :cheering: He doesn’t mind the knitting and is used to it to be honest, but he prefers normal sleeping and eating hours. :roflhard:
Had a dentist appt today, but DH forgot to tell me till late last night that he got the reminder call on his cell phone (what the??!) yesterday. I think I’ll reschedule till next week so I can have the whole 4 days to myself!
Jan, I like to have a little “something” blended with my cotton to give it a little “spring”. Like the Denimstyle… 100% cottons I find hard to work with, too.
Yeah, cats do turn barfing into an art don’t they? Too bad NO ONE wants to see it! :shock: :roflhard:

Thanks for that info, Kelly. I’m glad I’m not the only one who finds 100% cotton a pain. I’ll go for a blend next time…maybe Knitpicks shine! They have some pretty colors.

Sorry about the cat barf…I feel your pain. Last night, one threw up on the back of the couch. Sometimes it’s furballs, but more often than not, it’s overindulgence at the food bowl. Last night’s was. You’d think they’d figure out “if I eat too much too fast, I puke. Must not do that.” I mean, they’re not stupid! Or at least I thought not… :rollseyes:
Ohhhh yes! I definitely could sit outside and knit today. It’s 75 F right now at 2:30pm. Still have another hour or so to go up, too! I have been indoors, but had the sliding door open.
Cats… I think hairballs are easier to clean up for the most part, it’s the food that’s hard…and gross! Although we’ve never had Marshmallow diagnosed I have suspected for years that she has reflux. She’ll eat and then turn around and barf. :rollseyes: The food I’m giving her now seems to stay down better though so that’s good. I gave her some petromalt after the hairball this morning…now If I could just remember to do it every other day or so.
I got my tea! However it’s loose tea and I um…don’t know how to use that kind! :oops:
I should have looked there maybe, but I picked one up in the grocery store. However I can’t get it open!! I just made myself some by using a coffee filter. I put the filter in the cup of hot water and put the tea in the filter. Seems to have worked, but the tea ball would be easier. :rollseyes:
The tea was good! I ended up using a coffee filter. I stuck it in my cup of hot water and put the tea in it and when it was steeped I just took it out. Not the best method, but it’ll do.
Not to bring up cat barf again, but I think Ursula has the same problem. She did it again this morning… :rollseyes: I should bring her in the vet. Ours never have hairballs—it’s always food. I feed them Science Diet Sensitive Stomach, but it just doesn’t seem to work. I guess nothing works when they stuff their faces… :rollseyes:
Oh those photos are gorgeous, Jan! What a lovely yard you must have! I’m ready for spring, too…this gray/brown stuff has got to go.
Andrea, we’ve tried every food possible and these STILL yuk it up. So, since what they eat doesn’t really affect the barfing, we’ve actually started trying to buy food that matches our carpet so that it won’t stain as much…
Andrea, your cats may be the type that you can’t leave a bowl of food out if they are stuffing themselves. My cat just nibbles so it isn’t the gorging that causes her to get sick. She can eat just a little, turn around and hurl. It usually looks about the same as it did when it went in. Fortunately it only smells like cat food at this point. We are feeding her Purina Indoor Cat and Purina Pro Plan Indoor Cat and it really does seem to stay down better. Our carpet is light…they don’t make cat food this color. LOL
Marshmallow is a ragdoll breed cat and they are usually very large… like 15-20+ lbs…she only weighs 8-9. We’ve always wondered if this problem caused her to be smaller…lack of nutrition and all… but now that I’m thinking about it I guess that can’t be right. She’s always been healthy, but small. OH well.
Thanks for the nice comments on my photos/yard. It grows all year and tends to get way overgrown if DH isn’t out cleaning it up once a month or more. Plus it’s VERY small. :rollseyes:
My vet gave me a good tip, though I’ve yet to employ it. :rollseyes: She said to stop them gorging, you can put a rock or something in the middle of the catfood to force them to take longer to eat b/c they have to work around it. Feeding them out of an ice tray apparently has the same effect.
The thing is, my cat doesn’t gorge at all. She eats maybe 1 tablespoon of wet food at a time and a bowl of dry food will last for at least a couple days. I have to feed her about 5 times a day. Makes it hard to go anywhere. :rollseyes:
My mom has a cat like that! Her tummy is very sensitive. (Mom has given up on having nice carpeting.) The vet hasn’t detected any parasites or anything else in the various tests she’s done, so we have no idea what’s wrong.
That’s why I’ve self diagnosed reflux. She’s otherwise very healthy so I haven’t been too concerned.
A few years ago we put new laminate flooring in a good part of the house. However the cat seems to prefer to hack on the carpet! What the hell!? :doh: I should have put it in the entire house, but I know she’d hit all the throw rugs first, too. :rollseyes: Cats…gotta love 'em. :roflhard:
