I can not tell you just how thrilled I am to hear this!
But what about my binding off in knit and not in seed will this affect the overall finish project?

It’s better to BO in the stitch pattern, and alternating knit and purl sts seems to make the edge really on the edge, not laid over to the back or front. But it should be okay really, you’re going to seam up the pieces where you’ve bound off anyway.
Then I guess I will continue on with no frogging then and mark this up as another learning step.
I am at the Right Front right now , where I left off . I hope I won’t need to bug you for awhile .
Reading ahead for the Left Front side it says Work as for Right Front, rev shaping.
What does that mean ?
The BO and decs for the R front are on one edge of the piece, just put them on the other edge for the L front. You will need to BO at the beg of the WS row instead of the RS, but the decs can still be done on the RS rows, just the opposite edge.
I think I get it. I’ll see when I get to that side.
Tell me if I’m right here, Where I am at right now(Right Front) is Cont in seed st, dec edge every row 13 more times-49sts.
So to make this dec slant right, I will K2tog when it reads Dec 1?
I really am trying to read this pattern and work it out on my own, but sometimes it just doesn’t make sense in my thought pattern. You’re such a sweetheart for helping me with this.
Yes, a k2tog will work.
It takes knitting a sweater or two to understand how it all works; you seem to be doing fine.
Bet you roll your eyes when you see me posting another question:teehee:
I got to the ‘Shape neck:’(WS) it reads
work first 12sts for collar, place marker,dec1st continue in seed st across rem sts. Cont in seed st working 12 collar sts ecen, dec 1 st at marker.
My question is which dec do I use knitting on WS and then RS ?
Tell me please if this would be right, ssk on WS and k2tog on RS
Suzeeq, are you around? I could really use your help on my last post:??
I’ve got a long weekend and I’m hoping to knit some on my jacket.
I’m definitely doing this jacket for my mother in law. I already have the perfect shade of homespun for her… need to order a few more skeins… alas, it goes at the end of a long list.
You could use either decrease on both sides since it’s in seed stitch.
Suzeeq, but what about the two different slants directions?
It may not matter.
Could you please use a smaller font in your replies? The large type is distracting (or I’m just grouchy from a headache, sorry)
Suzeeq, I thought The dec st would have to slant in a certain direction to help shape the collar.
So , following the instructions for shaping the collar doing the dec on the WS and then RS doesn’t matter which dec st or which direction it slants in,as I go back and forth, that’s what your saying?

I think so. The ‘slant’ of a decrease only really shows on the RS of stockinette. When you knit in garter or seed stitch, it really shouldn’t show. The shaping of the collar comes from the decreases themselves, not necessarily which one you use. Just try it however you want, see how it comes out. That’s really the only way to tell.

I started the Shape neck:next row (ws)
On the decreases ,I think I am doing it right (cont in seed st working 12 collar sts even, dec 1 st at marker (before marker on RS rows"after marker on WS rows)every 6th row 13 times
So, I only do my dec sts on every 6th rows but my question is this. When I get to the marker and make my dec st I end up with two of the same st next to each other ,instead of seed sts. am I doing something wrong?
That’s going to happen when you’re alternating knits and purls. It likely won’t be noticeable when you’re done.
And could you please use a smaller font…?
Sorry on the font, I have trouble seeing sometimes and larger print helps. I need to get new glasses.
So if I have to knit sts next to each other or p sts do I work them as such and not seed them?
I did try to post pic’s on my Flickr to show you.
Well maybe there could be a font size in between that you could see okay in…?
I don’t really see a problem in your picture. It’s probably glaring to you because you’re focused on the decreases. The next dec you make there will get your seed st back to alternating knits and purls.
You’re probably right. I wonder if I should be doing my dec in what ever the sts are. I mean, if the dec falls on a knit maybe I should knit it as what it is , like if it’s a purl, knit it as a purl and the same for the knit st? Something just feels like I am doing it wrong.
I posted more pic’s so show where my dec sts are on the front panel. Their on the long side. I am wondering if I made a mistake and started on the wrong side for the shaping of the next. Could you please look and check the pattern for me and see if I am on the right track?
I’ve re read the pattern over and over and I am not getting if I did this wrong or not. In my mind I would think the dec sts should be on the curved edge, if so then I started on the wrong side.
