GrumpyGramma's Knitting Room

Now I know it’s time for a brain scan when I forget mojitos!!! I’d toast you but I have nothing with which to toast. Mea maxima culpa :notworthy:

Absolvo!

:teehee:

Knitting needles are magic wands. What else can explain how they turn yarn into so many useful and beautiful things?

I’ve been really quiet, I’ve been hiding here in the corner, licking my wounds. Jeff told me, 2 weeks ago Sunday, that he doesn’t love me anymore, and that I needed to find a place for the girls and I to live. I’m as ok as I can be, and I’m making plans, and in a week, on the 4th, the girls and I are moving in with a friend of mine, until I can get us a car and get back on my feet. I’m not sure when or if I’ll be able to get internet for us, so I might be gone a while. He isn’t going to shut off our cell phones, as long as I pay my part of the bill.

I guess I saw this coming, looking back I can see it, but I was trying to hang on until he got a job, and we’d be better. He starts the truck driving job tomorrow. Sigh. :verysad:

Hugs to all. I’ll miss you. :muah:

Oh Janis, honey… I’m so sorry this has happened. There are no words I can say to make it better. I simply wish you and the girls all the best, and hope to hear from you again soon. :grphug:

I am so sorry Janis. I hope things get better for you. Hang in there :muah:

@Janice Some things make me really angry and this is one of them. I hope you can get online again and let us know how you’re getting along.

I got to spend time with nephews and nieces-in-law and grand nephews and grand nieces today. It was lovely. I got a great compliment too. I was told that my yarn work looks professional. LOL Gotta love that young woman!

What yarn work were you sporting?

Actually, none, Claire. My knitting was in the car. She’d seen some things I gave my sister, her MIL. I’m not the only knitter in the family but she told me she’s just starting to work with increases and decreases, she’s only made rectangular things. I expect she’s more accomplished than she lets on. I hope to see her work one day, at least a picture.

PS: As hard as I tried I couldn’t talk myself into leaving the nylons at home and wearing my sox with my skirt. It would have been oh, so stylish. :roflhard:

:roflhard: :roflhard: :roflhard:

With all good intentions of checking in here more often it hasn’t happened.

I have also been doing the nasty ‘Spring Cleaning’ and my house is super clean again except my windows (too cold yet) and china cabinet (I hate doing it) which I hope to get to this week.

While cleaning I found a pair of jeans that I had put away, in case I lost weight… Well that didn’t happen so I took a day off from cleaning and made a bag out of them, fully lined and zipper closure.

Evenings I have been able to do some knitting, still playing with Brioche hats but right now I have toe up socks on my needles.

I have been going to Petsmart with my little guy taking obedience classes! he is doing quite well.

Nothing else new here, I just wanted to say hi to all!!

I’m glad you checked in Lori, it’s so nice to hear from you :waving: My goodness, you are so industrious, you put us all to shame :notworthy: Do you take all your dishes out and wash them?

There is a magnificent sight along the freeway when I drive south towards home. A tree with an abundance of sea birds and their nests, unlike anything I have ever seen. I’ve been trying to figure out how to get a picture of it. Darn I wish I had the type of camera that could do a long range shot. Will post a photo if I am successful.

I began work on the Josie Vest. The pattern calls for 25 buttons; one raveler remarked that the weight of these buttons needs to be considered so I am thinking about making the buttons out of yarn.

:sleepy: Way past bedtime, hope you all are doing well :out:

Yes, when spring cleaning my cupboards in the kitchen I took everything out washed and replaced, even the canned goods. I will do the same for the china cabinet. Even if the doors are closed most of the time the glasses get filmy. Here is a link to some baby sweaters I have made using bobbles for buttons which would not be a solution for you, but there is one that might work for you. Look down the pictures and you will see a little green sweater with the feather and fan skirt, have a look at the flat buttons I made on there, that might work for your vest???

Here is a picture of my china cabinet that needs cleaning.

Needs cleaning? Where??? You are so industrious!

What cute wee one stuff!

I just love the little white sweater, 2nd row from bottom on the right. It’s on top of a yellow one. What pattern is that? Perfect classic baby sweater.

@Lori - Did you make all of those sweaters in 2012? They are so amazing.

Do you have a link to those buttons? It looks as though they may work.

We have blueberries coming out of our ears, there are only three acres planted, hard to believe that they can produce so much.

Hope everyone is having a good day :knitting:

How to crochet a button Google search. Pick which one(s) you want to look at. Or skip them all. :teehee:

I have two pairs of sox just alike. :teehee:

Red and gray are Universal Pace yarn, discontinued. The stripey ones are Regia.

Charlotte: That little sweater is one of my own designs, I’d gladly gift you the pattern if you want it. Or any one else of you that would like one of my patterns, just let me know by private message and I will email it to you.

Yes Claire those were all done in 2012. I get into themes making a lot of something then moving on to another project. All of those went to an unwed mothers home. If you go back and look, you should see besides the title 2012 to the left of that is ‘projects’ if you click on that you will see all my work since 2007. I have everything categorized, so there are many projects within the project.

GG my SIL never wears the same sock on both feet! your reminded me of her. I am working on these socks right now, picture not great, it is getting dark here…

With only 22 million one hundred thousand results, idk, do you think I might be able to find one that I like? :roflhard:

It’ll be fun to start looking through them, needed a break from my project anyway.

No.
:yay:

@Lori - Beautiful socks! I really want to do something other than Plain Jane once in a while, but darn it all, Plain Jane Sox is what I like to wear. sigh I am absolutely not in your league. That’s OK, I really admire your accomplishments and love looking at your FOs!
