Front Neck Shaping

I’d not heard that but I’ve seen the steek folded to the inside and tacked down. Once you wash and dry that probably won’t be necessary as the ends start to felt. Looking good!

That’s reassuring thanks! I’m just reluctant to start pulling legs for grafting the sleeve before it felting

So I went and bought a felting needle today and I’ve felted my chains for extra reassurance and I’m a lot more confident that the stitches are all safe now!

What’s more, I felted the patch where I unravelled a load of stitches and they’ve all caught and felted nicely!! (The patch of gold that betrays the pattern)

That’s a very clever idea. Thanks for sharing it.

Just finished grafting the sleeves! I didn’t quite understand what it meant to leave top and bottoms ungrafted for a fake graft afterwards?

Also, I (accidentally) have given it another layer of steek protection with wider pick ups but it shows my mess ups!

Which section is it refering to for the fake graft?
I use a fake graft on shoulders, it’s basically bound off edges (so you get stability) then usually the same path of travel as mattress stitch except that, instead of pulling tight to “zip up” the seam, you size each stitch as you sew to make them the same size as the fabric stitches (and it looks like knit stitches rather than seaming). It’s softer than mattress stitch and has a nice finish. I’m really not sure where it’s refering to in your pattern though.

The top shoulder and underarm. But it didn’t say anything about casting anything off… So I decided to just continue to Kitchener the whole sleeve to the body…

Well, it’s good you’ve got a solution anyway.

Traditional double layered button band complete!

In all its glory! Thanks so much for letting us see this terrific sweater.

Whoop whoop!
It was great to see the progress of this really difficult sweater. And finished so nicely. Amazing result.

I’ve just finished sewing in the 100s of tail ends…

So grateful for the help on here. I wouldn’t have pieced this very difficult and confusing pattern without the advice from you all. Many many thanks!

It is purely a pleasure to see this stunning sweater! You’ve worked it so nicely and no one will ever guess at the effort to weave in all those ends. Well done.
