Here’s my Saturday Market Bag. I made it with one skein of Cotton Fleece that was left over from my Green Gable top.
More info on my blog.

you done already!! i haven’t even started mine!!!
It went by really fast…the needles are friggin HUGE. It was like knitting with broomsticks.
What color are you making yours?
Oh, and when you make it, I didn’t do the handle twice like it says on the pattern. I just knitting one long handle and grafted it onto the other side of the bag.
Oh, I LOVE it!!! I gotta make one! Where is the pattern found?
Edit… I found it!
Love that bag! It’s on my list with a skein of Hempathy earmarked for it. I’ll check out the modifications.

I love it! It’s cute, and gives me a great idea for some of my left over yarns!

I love love love it! I didn’t realize that they were the same bag!! That is great!! :cheering: :cheering: :cheering:
Isn’t that the pattern modification from someone’s blog that includes a self-containing pouch? What great idea. If you don’t mind, would you share the link? I know I saw it awhile ago but don’t recall where it was.
Beautiful job and I love that green!
Oh I love it!! Any chance you can share the pattern?
That came out great!!
Thanks, everyone! You all know how to make a gal feel special
Now that the little monster…err, princess is asleep and doped-up on Motrin and Orajel, I can add the specs on the market bag.

Here’s the site with the modifications.
The pattern is super easy, just read over the lace pattern. Keep in mind that you need to pass the slipped stitch over BOTH the knitted AND the YO. I think that’s where I was getting stuck at first.
I worked it in the round so that I wouldn’t have to seam. Me and seaming aren’t friends. For the strap, I worked one long strap (vice two like in the pattern) and grafted them together at the border of the bag.
Umm, I think that’s it. Other than that, I followed the pattern EXACTLY.
Awesome! I have some leftover yarn in my stash that would be perfect for that.
Quick question, though… when you picked up the “90 or so” sts, did you pick them up on all 4 sides of the pouch or just 3?
Ahhhh … I’ve seen that one before, but I never considered knitting it until I saw the modifications for the pouch!!! How clever!!! I just happen to have a skein of Cotton Fleece in my stash, too. :woohoo:
G.S. … I have a quick question after looking over the pattern & the modifcations: Do you pick up the stitches around the upper edge of the pouch ignoring the flap??? (Yes, I know this will make more sense when I actually knit it, but it’s nice to know ahead of time.)
Thanks!!
I picked the stitches up along the outside of the envelope (all 4 edges), so that the flap is on the inside of the bag when it’s all done. This way, you flip the bag inside out to put it in the pouch.
I’ll attach pics - hope this makes it a little more clear.
Aha!! That makes much more sense now!! Thank you!! The pictures do a great job of explaining!!!
So, how long did it take you to knit the whole thing??
Oh my gosh!! I was just looking @ the original pattern again, and I realized that the designer is an amputee like my son!!! I’m going to email her!! How cool!
A-ha!! I get it now. I think I’ll have to try my hand at this after I finish my Branching Out. TY!!
I love it. Thanks for the pattern!
