FO: Baby Dress with Fabric Skirt

That is very cute!! great job…:happydance:

Sandy, that is just gorgeous!! I love it! Would you mind telling me how big the sizing goes in that book? I would love to make that dress for my girls, but they’re definitely not babies anymore.

Abbily, its a baby book, so it only goes up to a size 18 months. Sorry! :pout:

I vote #1 because the color matches the best with the yarn. I think its going to be adorable:inlove:

I voted for #2 because it is pretty and won’t detract from the beautiful knitted part.

That dress is sooo beautiful!

Okay, here’s a question from someone without a clue about combining sewing and knitting…Did you have to sew the fabric onto the knitted top by hand, using a sewing machine, or how in the world?

I need to find time to pull my sewing machine out of the box and learn how to use it…

Hi Lisa Kay!

I used a sewing machine, and actually sewed across the seam three times! The first time was just basting it on. The second time was the first good seam, and the third time was another seam closer to the top, so the skirt would hang better.

I was amazed to see that the sewing thread didn’t show through at ALL! I used a thread that was exactly the same color as the yarn. Also, the yarn I used (Berroco Cotton Twist) is kinda “thready” anyway, so I guess that’s why it blended in so well.
