i was just wondering how many of u can crochet
Okay, I answered yes because I can. However, I wouldn’t crochet anything other than maybe an edge on a knitted project. Other than afghans I don’t really care for crochet that much.
No, but I would like to learn. A few years ago, a friend tried to teach me through emails, but I must admit that I just couldn’t get over the very basics. I’m usually a fast learner, but just couldn’t do it!
Oh, looked at the website, just gotta say, KEWL, loved it though I am a much older (50), yes fifty( can that be true, I feel 20 inside) woman. Great quiz! :cheering: :cheering: :cheering: :happydance: :happydance:
I can. I’d say I’m a much better crocheter than I am a knitter.
Yes, since I was 18, and I’m 38 now. I come from a long line of crocheters. In fact, I didn’t begin knitting until early this year. At the Hobby Lobby in Sherman, they were selling thier needle craft leaflets for half price. I decided to try knitting, while they were still that price, and I’ve become so addicted. :happydance:
I learned when I was 5. I’ve pretty much switched to knitting now, but it’s a very useful skill to have! And I still pick it up everynow and then for lace.
One day, a long, long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away, my Grandma taught me a few of the basics. I went home with a crochet hook and some yarn and really went to town with it. Unfortunately, the novelty wore off pretty quickly – as it will when you’re that age. I didn’t touched a crochet hook again until I got a set this year for my knitting arsenal – so far I’ve only done some simple crochet edges on knitted projects. Have been meaning to do more…
My mother tried to teach me at least five times and I just cannot learn it. I’m glad I found knitting!
yup but I’m wayyyy better at knitting than crocheting…but i can’t for the life of me understand the pattern instructions in crocheting :?? but someone here in the KH forum gave a link to a page where it has crochet videos explaining everything so I might give it a try
oooh, do u still have the link?
I used to do both, but I haven’t crocheted anything except a simple edging for decades. I did help a student learn, though.
Yup. Been knitting less than a year but crocheting more than 9. Since I started knitting, I’ve been crocheting a lot less, but I still consider myself a better crocheter than knitter.
Well! I used to a long time ago but then didn’t just like my knitting for over 20 years. Then I went to the Rhinebeck Wool & Sheep festival in october and somehow, ended up buying this crochet hook. I couldn’t put it down it was so beautiful. Weird, it brought me back to crocheting. So now I’m working on a gorgeous ! I think shawl and it’s such fun to jump back and forth from knitting to crochet. Crochet can be really relaxing and like mesmerizing ha if you know what I mean.
I wish I could teach you guys who couldn’t get it, it’s really the simplest thing in the world. through the loop through the loop
oooh, do u still have the link?
yup! here you go: Free Crochet Video Tutorial Introduction : Learn to Crochet Video Series : Tunisian & Traditional Crochet Videos
Enjoy!! :cheering:
I don’t know how to crochet right now, unless you count making a rocet chain for a provisional cast on. I’ll probably learn how to do it for projects with crocheted edges, but that will be the extent of my crochet. But you never know…
THanks Monoangel for the link! THose videos are great. I know the basics of crochet but I keep forget some stitches. This is a great help.
I know enough to get by :teehee: I had my mom teach me a few yrs ago and my afghan still looks like a really long scarf… for some reason knitting was easier for me to learn and keep straight… this past summer we started a crochet shrug and of course once I got home it was crooked again and needs her help… she does the crocheting and I do the knitting…
You’re welcome!! but really the one to thank is MaRDi who posted a link on the KH december KAL…I always wondered if such a place existed cause on my own I was definitely not going to really learn how to crochet! :teehee: :teehee:
I’ve been crocheting since I was about 12 and altho I learned to knit about the same time frame, I picked up on crocheting and held with it. I’m now 39 and just started knitting again about 4 months ago, and already am teaching beginning knitters here as well as pushing myself to learn more.
I have to say I enjoy both, though of course I’m more comfortable with crocheting. I used to think it had more options for design but unless you count all the different motif patterns out there I now feel that they are pretty equal. I do like knitting better for wearables due to the nice drape and feel you get, but love crochet for some wearables and everything else out there. It also helps to lay one down and pick up the other to give your hands a rest as they are pretty different. I love them both tho
