Processing Majin- measured waste, too-
This is a lamb fleece. Not coated for spring n summer, then coated. You can see that point!
Black fleece with stripe in middle, that’s from a diet/mineral change!
I’ve gone off the deep end sharing raw wool, sorry!
This is lamb Corriedale. 135F water and I ended up having to drive it to a mill to wash it! Lanolin in it would not fully come out!!!
The good waste from a Corriedale. Needs more work, but wool under it is worth it.
Okay, will get back to yarn soon…
I did a trade of Derrik(alpaca) rolags w/some wool blended in for late Arturo’s blanket rolags to be spun up & they arrived today.
568 yards 3ply alpaca yarn.
Oh, reposting these pics is making me wish I hadn’t of sold Majin…ah well.
The black was a weird, rush project from mill processed roving. HATE Babydoll roving from a mill, awful!
The belt is store nylon yarn. Used a tiny sock loom, holy heck, super labor intensive!!
Some more messy wool yarn for fun and then more normal, 3 and 4 ply.
The rectangles above and here are carded, then pulled off instead of rolled into rolag. A first step into realizing that I didn’t need to do so much prep!!
Mill washed Corriedale- raw fleece, 7#.
I washed it, still had lanolin, 6.56#.
Mill washed it and final weight of 6#!!
Back to corespun. Bobbin could hold 32ft 10in.
Not good enough!
Made my own huge bobbin! Lol. Don’t want to spend $200 on the kit.
131 feet & 6 inches corespun.
Also split the mill roving to make it easier to spin.
Another diy-
figured out what to use to raise the bobbin to better match the flyer w/o causing much drag.
And cardboard to add more yarn before having to change bobbins!
Corriedale, bits that need more work or imperfect vs perfect fry box, lol.
9 pounds of ready yarn, too.
