Any Sock KAL

Hi everybody! I missed you guys and it took me awhile to catch up.
Dotty: that circ bag is AWESOME!!! Those little socks for Caitlin turned out so so cute too!
jberry: I am soooo glad Caitlin is doing everything a good lil’ one should right now and we are all here waiting in anticipation
As for me, I am planning a trip to see family for Christmas in PA, my kiddo is kinda lonely down here with just me and my mom so I thought that would cheer him up from missing Daddy. So, just little knitting on my orginal pair of socks but not much else. I am planning so many Christmas gifts but no mojo to get them done sigh
Dotty I plan on bringing my knitting with my sock bag so my sock can travel in style

Dotty, those are SO CUTE! Nice work!

Can’t wait to see Caitlin soon!

Sounds like seeing your family in PA will be good for both of you. Hope you get some holiday spirit and mojo to start those Christmas gifts, I’m done and will NOT start anymore. I wanted to finish before Caitlin came and I did minus the scarf for Mom, but she’s not expecting it, so I’m keeping my mouth shut. And I’ve done the math and for $70.00 more we’re done with our Christmas shopping and I don’t even have to go to the mall!!! I even printed out the labels for my cards yesterday-trying to get as much done as possible so when Caitlin does arrive I only have to send them.

Julie,
you have to be the most organized mommy on the planet. I only have one and I’m frazzled most of the time…hehe

Hi Socksters,

Dotty, you are the nicest!!! Love those little socks for Caitlin and the circular needle holder for Julie.

Julie, hope everything goes according to your plan. I’m glad that Caitlin has held in there.

Christina, my brother lives near Johnstown, PA. You will probably see a white Christmas there.

Dustinac, how many hours do you knit a day. Here I thought I’d bang those heels out on my socks and it ended up taking me all evening. Do you knit English or Continential? Not that one is any better than the other.

Jackie, I agree this is a great friendly place to come and visit. Even if I don’t post everyday I still come to check to see how everyone is doing.

Lieke, it was fun looking up the sock yarn you used for your Scrolling Socks. I never used to think about the different types of yarn available in different locations.

I just remebered that my second KnitPicks order is suppose to come today. I need to go check my mailbox.

Sock on,
Carla

:woohoo:OH, my box was out there!!!:woohoo:
I took pictures and am sharing them with you before I even look through the books.

I will give my review later on the books, needles and markers. I am so excited.:woot:I will be enjoying my new books while at our camper this afternoon while my DH hunts.

:happydance:This is what Free Shipping will get you. :happydance:Those are Nickel Plated Circ 32" Sz 1 (2.25) and Harmony Circ 32" Sz 1 (2.5).

ooooh…I have the “Getting Started” book, but I really want the New Pathways book…yes give us a review please

1to1, don’t give me TOO much credit for my niceness ! Julie did BUY the circulars pouch ! But how could I not knit a pair of socks for Caitlin? She’s going to be the first official KAL baby !

We got up to 81 degrees today, so I took full advantage…besides getting 3 loads of laundry out on the line, I dyed up 4 50gram skeins of Wool of the Andes, Cloud. I got it in a trade for one of the sock bags. I used 4 packages of Lemon-Lime, and 2 of Berry Blue…I mixed some of the blue IN WITH the green in a really weak solution, to begin with, to get a soft all-over green base, then I started spotting the yarn with an eyedropper and strong solutions of the green and of the blue. It’s still PRETTY BRIGHT ! But I think it’s going to be pretty !
Hi Christina, I have missed YOU ! I haven’t chosen a color for the two Bares you sent me yet…the Wool of the Andes was the only one that I had multiples of, and I want to make a matching hat and mittens for myself.

Dotty that yarn looks soooooo pretty!!! Can’t wait to see it skeined up!

Ooh, I hadn’t even thought of that, Tina ! I would have missed having beautiful pictures of it ! Thank you ! I was just going to hand-wind it into balls in the morning, when I’m sure it’s totally dry. But, now, I just had to give it a try !

Dotty: that’s so pretty, whatcha gonna make with it?

1to1: what fun!
I hope she just comes when she’s ready

I’m thinking full coverage mittens, for sure, and maybe a hat to match. I haven’t found just the right hat for me yet. It really needs to cover my ears, for cool weather bike-riding. Last year I used an earflap hat…this year I’ve been trying the Calorimetry, but it slides up my ears while I ride…I wound up buttoning it UNDER my chin on the way home, last time I wore it…I looked like an old lady … I mean OLDER than I AM ! I might want to do a lacy looking one since this is such a pretty coloration…I printed several awhile back…just need to track them down !

I love seeing the new picture of your babies as your avatar ! That picture’s fixing to get crowded when Caitlin joins it !

Hello BUSY Socksters!!
What a bunch you are, I go away for a couple of days and look what happens.

Where to start?? I’m not sure I can catch up with everyone but I always enjoy hearing what everyone is up to.

dustinac… sorry to hear you’re a bit sore. Take care of yourself and hopefully you’ll be back to :knitting: soon!

Also, so glad to hear all is well with Caitlin nd family. I agree, Julie is the most organized Mommy. But I guess you have to be with a little one expected around the Holidays. Now you can relax!!!

1to1… What an exciting package!!! :woohoo: Like an early Christmas. Those books are on my list too.

Hi ChristinaKnits :waving:

And dotty… I was going to tell you how much I liked your little sock and the coffee scoop hubby crafted… yes, the two of you need an etsy shop! :teehee: Then you go and post a picture of your yarn dyeing and the little watermelon socks!! How sweet for Caitlin. And so funny… I was going to share my Kool-Aid socks with you all tonight.
They’re big girl socks though, for me, lol! I don’t remember if I posted any pics from my first Kool-Aid experiments, and I’m too lazy to go back through the pages of this KAL tonight. But I have some in my blog. I did the pink/green worsted and also overdyed that light green Chinese wool with blue and green, and the grey chinese wool with red (tropical punch). It was fun!!

Hi Jackie… It’s about that time. Good Morning!!

Oh, I guess I’d better clarify something !
I didn’t dye the yarn for Caitlin’s baby socks…that’s the Watermelon colorway from ThankEwe.etsy…the yarn I used for my Pomatomusses…I only photographed it beside the Kool-Aid package because I knew everyone could relate to its size. I can see how that would be misleading ! OOPS !:aww:

Dotty: yes the picture is gonna get crowded. And I wondered if you’d dyed the yarn for her socks, but then I remembered you saying you wanted to, but hadn’t. However, now that you have, isn’t it fun? I want to get some more bare sock yarn to dye, but have to wait for the money and I really need to knit up the yarn I have.

speaking of hand dyed yarn, wonder who’s gonna be right on Caitlin’s bday? contractions are off and on-none closer than 10 min today though. sigh.

Y’all I’m only this organized now because of the baby comming, I still have to take a good photo of the 3 of them together to have made up and enclose with each Christmas card-I wanted that to be the only thing I had to do though once she’s born-well and keep up with my school too.
Today while the kids were naping I decided to make myself a scarf out of my mmmmmmmmmmalabrigo yarn (purchased it last year and couldn’t decide what to do with 1 skein) Also I poped the balloon and the ornament is done!

Well, I guess last night was ‘scarf night’ !
I looked and looked for a project to get into after finishing the little Wanda socky, but they all called for my Knitpicks options needles, and I can’t get into them yet !
So, I went back to a skein of yarn I got from TwistedFiber.etsy and tried this scarf… (youtube video will start immediately after clicking on link)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qenzg_-uAl0

Only problem is, I’m finding that ANY WOOL I have seems scratchy when placed under my chin, against my neck…even a merino/silk blend I got this week ! I may just have to use fleece scarves, and pick up the colors in my hats and mitts. Or buy a really nice acrylic !

Oh, I forgot … I’ve been wanting to ask GJ something…did you say you’re expecting, too? When !!!

I really like the ornament, by the way…and those snowflake socks of dustinacs…:passedout:

Dotty - the Watermelon Colorway is far too yummy delicious ! I love the colour.

Julie - thats a nice ornament.

Dustinac - Yeah, l seems getting know u ladies more each day.

Have a nice day !

:waving: Hi Jackie !

:waving: Hi Alex !

Lovely scarves ladies… :yay:

dotty, I just went ahead and assumed you’d dyed the little socks, after seeing your pretty green yarn. And here I thought great minds were thinking alike with the watermelon colors.

Anyway, I think I like knitting worsted slipper socks. I haven’t had too many FO’s lately so it’s nice to have a sock, even if it’s a worsted weight sock, get done in just a couple of days!! :woohoo:
Anyhow, here’s my ‘watermelon’ sock. One down, one to go.

Happy :knitting:
