My ribbing wasn’t going as planned but know it is. I am not going to fix the pattern where I messed up because this is a practice sock. I just want to knit the 8 inches of cuff so I can learn the heal and what ever comes after that. Once I get this sock thing down I want to knit all different sock patterns and I love to knit lace, so we’ll see where it goes from here. Good luck on everyones sock knitting, and have a good night.
PS. I was knitting my socks today when I didn’t have clients in the salon.
Dottie those socks on flickr are amazing I love the dark purple ones!!
look under you user name next to your post! we have new designation! too cool that they are sock related :teehee:
Jberry, your socks look great. As for you question, I’ve just got the books (msks and sks) but I haven’t been able to knit something from it. Right now I’m working on a toe-up sock, but I’ve frogged the toe again. I can measure it when it’s finished if you want to.
rorygilmore, I love your socks. My dad doesn’t want handknitted socks and dbf only wants black (and I hate knitting with black)
cinammon_girl, I added you to my friends. Love the sock you’re working on. Great color!
dotty, your socks look so great!
pauly, if your sock is only a practice sock, why bother knitting a long leg. If you get the hang of it, just proceed to the heel.
That is so cool. I’m working the gusset! (is it toe-up or top down? :P)
:wall: grr Kh how is that when you are backspacing in a post and you see the words disappearing you can also be taking back to the last page you looked at your post is then gone :shrug: :teehee:
Good Morning Socksters!! I like the new titles!! :blooby:
jeanius~that is about where I’m at as well…I’ve been thinking of taking the yarn though and making another cozy shawl from knitty :teehee:…try the tunic next summer lol…
cinnamon_girl~I have you added on ravelry!! The socks look wonderful :woot:…:oo:I’m not that fast…just stay up way to late at night :teehee:
Pauly~ That’s great :woot:… ohh wait till you open the door to sock knitting… you will have a binder so full that you can’t even open it without them popping out… you will have dreams about your next pattern… you will co to one pattern but can’t get another out of your head… the socks will then own you… :oo: or at least that’s how it is for me… :teehee:
jberry~Thanks for the heads up on the harmonys…I was going to get those for ML…now I won’t…maybe get the dpns later on…the hat sounds very cute!!
dotty~ I can’t wait to start knitting with the orange I have… :blooby:
lieke~ :teehee:
okey dokey I’m off and running… happy sock knitting!!! :happydance:
Morning Socksters,
I had to post just to see what it says under my username.
I’m still working on another pair of the two-color, no-show socks.
Tomorrow, I’m going to help a friend learn to do toe-up socks. She’s knitted amazing Christmas stockings so I’m sure she’ll be easy to teach. I printed out Silver’s Tutorial and she wants to make the http://knitty.com/ISSUEsummer06/PATTbaudelaire.html These were my second pair of socks so I know that are easy and will be interesting to knit.
Sock on,
Carla
SERIOUSLY, 1to1 ? The Baudelaires were your SECOND pair ? :noway:
I’ve been peeking at them, warily !
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I think the new designation must be based on our number of posts…because rorygilmore and I joined a year apart, and yet we have the same name, ‘knitting the flap’ ! But we’ve posted about the same number of times. I think ‘instepping out’ sounds much better !:teehee:
Thanks for the compliments on my socks, good people !
I think I’m going to attend the get together for the 20th anniversary of our local quilting guild tonight. It’s a group of about 50 members, I think. Truth is, I’m not sure anymore. I was a member for the first 5 years and then got myself kicked out :roflhard: , and haven’t been back. But it will be fun to see how old we’ve all gotten (atleast I think it’ll be fun…might be really depressing :lol: ) When I joined it, I had a 9 year old daughter, and now I have two grandkids ! Wow…can’t believe that much time has passed.
Anyway, I’m wanting to start a sock today, so I can wear my little sock bag from my beltloop and knit during the thing, but they’ll probably think THAT’S sacreligious at a quilt gathering…you watch…I’ll get KICKED OUT AGAIN ! :roflhard:
that totally cracks up that you got kicked out of a quilting group. what did you do? make a crooked quilt?:teehee:
I refused to pay my dues…on principle, mind you ! :roflhard: Long story.
dotty I read and replied to your pm.
Howdy 1to1!!! She will have a very good teacher…can’t wait to see your other pair of socks…
dotty…:teehee:
I finally have matching cat socks…I posted them in the whatcha knittin’ forum… but hereis the link to the flickr picture if you want to see them for the umm… what seems to be 100th time…:teehee:
:passedout:
I didn’t get my shawl and socks today from the fair…you can get them on Saturday as well… tonight you had to pay to get in… well to pay for us to get in to just get my items seemed crazy to me… so I decided to wait till Sat when we could go for free…:teehee:
mmmm… dotty… rabble rouser. I knew I liked you from the first for a reason.
Matching kitty cats!! :woohoo: Very cool socks!
Hi fellow socksters!
I haven’t been able to get online since Sunday when our house was HIT BY LIGHTNING!!!
Thankfully, we didn’t end up with a hole in the roof, but we lost a bunch of electronic stuff and the copper tubing for the ice-maker in the freezer popped a hole. Surge protectors do NOTHING against that much power!
No sock knitting has happened, however! I’m trying to decide what pattern to use with my Sockotta. I get about 8 spi on size 1’s. I just got Sensational Knitted Socks, so I might choose something from that. I want to use ML, though. I’ll have to adapt.
Anyway, everyone’s socks look so great! I’m SO impressed. Beautiful colors, lovely patterns…
Does it drive anyone else to knit socks with magic loop? I want to kill my circs right now!
That’s all I use! I tried using DPN’s, but couldn’t get the hang of it. I LOVE using ML.
I kicked and screamed when someone tried to pull me away from dpns and try ML…and then I finally decided with the cat socks to give ML an honest try… no switching back to dpns half way through… no frogging cause I was using ML… and to my mom’s surprise (which I made her learn how to do her first sock on dpns even though she wanted circs or ML) I like it… and now my dpns are getting in my way :teehee:
I still need to go back and give 2 circs an honest try…
On the Rainbow pattern from Magknits…she says it’s done on 5 dpns… can you switch this to ML or cause of the short rows you need to keep it with exactly what she says… I frogged what I had started of the sock and one reason I didn’t like it was cause of the 5dpns… I typically only use 4… that 5th needle made it very annoying to me… :oo:
GJ~That is scary!! I’m glad you guys are ok … I really like the patterns in SKS… I have done the baby cable and the yarn over cable (I think pulling the names out of the top of my head right now)… I used them with busier type yarns and they turned out really nice…
Dustinac, your cat socks are stunning!
