I survived !

Not only that, but my friend says that I got the only practically standing ovation for my GardenWalk quilt that I showed during show and tell…(I don’t know…I was too nervous to notice !)

So glad to be back to my knitting (I did sit there and knit on a sock, I did, I DID !)

I have a feeling you meant ‘drive anyone else crazy’…but I’m exactly what you DID say…I’m now driven to knit socks because of magicloop ! I resisted it too, but so glad I peeked at the video and tried it ! But my replacement pair of fixed knitpicks circulars also have the sharp thing at the join…no amount of filing has helped, so I just grit my teeth and use them anyway. But my size 2’s are like ‘buttah’ !

yes I did mean that, dotty. my words are mixed up sometimes, its worst when I’m tired.
I’ve used ML before and I was fine but for some reason, i’m having a hard time starting the sock on my US 3s. Maybe its because the needle are so small. I’m going to start the sock out on dbs and then move it to the circs. I think that will work.
:woot:YAY!! Your quilts are stunning so I’m not surprised… I’m glad you didn’t get kicked out your first night back…:teehee:
I’m starting baby socks today for a friend…should be fast and easy… now to go knock on some wood… :oo:
Dotty those green socks are very purdy, and so are your quilts, funny you got kicked out-glad you went back; gotta show them who is boss!
GJ: can’t believe your house was hit-wow! glad y’all are ok.
Sorry I can’t reply to all, don’t remember all I was going to say-anyway I had an eventful day yesterday…got admitted to the hospital for preterm labor and am now on bedrest-sigh. The NICU doc said if the baby was born now she’d probably stay in the NICU for 5-6 weeks if there were no complications-so please join me in praying that I can stay pregnant until mid Nov, and then hopefully she’ll be able to come home with us or only have to stay in the NICU for a little while. Their suck, swallow, breathe reflux doesn’t even develop for 3 more weeks-so she’d be getting all her nutrients from an IV and maybe some breastmilk through a nasal feeding tube-we went through this with the last pregnancy and I was able to stay pg until 36 weeks after 5 weeks of bedrest-so we’re in the same boat so to speak. But for those of you who are curious I’m already 2-3cm and 80% effaced and am taking the drug nifedipine every 4 hours to keep the contractions at bay. I’ll try to update as often as possible, including on my blog. I had an ultrasound done yesterday and according the their calculations she is 3 1/2#s and in the 50% for growth, that’s encouraging.
as far as knitting goes, not much has changed but now I’ll have no excuse not to get moms scarf done before christmas, or the kids hats since I’m on bedrest. Wonder how long it will take for my kp exchange so I can finish my sister’s socks? Again great job everyone, Paul, way to go on the knitting, each sock gets easier and you find your own little ‘tricks’ Magic Loop, ml, is very simple and makes sock knitting a breeze!
Oh, julie ! Quick,…CROSS YOUR LEGS !
Ah, but seriously, you have me praying for you. In a way, I’m glad you’ve been through this before, so that you know how to handle it, and what to expect. But on the other hand, I’m so sorry you’re right there again !
How in the world do you manage the two babies you have right now while on bed rest? Is someone going to come and stay with you?
See, there was a reason for you not to be folding all of that laundry !

As far as the quilt guild goes, I did go back and face them all, but found that I’m just as glad not to belong anymore. They’re still teaching patterns that we had classes on 20 years ago…with the same teacher ! Okay, now I’m just being tacky ! But one visit was enough…I’ll stick to my knitters and my little close-knit group of OUTLAW quilters.

Just visited our local Hancock Fabrics, and they’ve totally quit carrying any sock yarn. I don’t ‘do’ WalMart, so I don’t know if they carry it or not, but that leaves me with online only…so hard to tell the true color and feel of yarn online. But, still I’m blessed that we have that option these days !
I called KnitPicks and asked about their prices being different from my catalog (which had an expiration date of Aug. 17, 07 at the bottom of the order form and I only got it about 8 weeks ago). The lady said that not only would they NOT honor those prices, but that there had been TWO catalogs issued since then, and even one of them had already expired. I told her that I have had backorders shipping to me all summer and plenty of chances for them to send me an updated catalog, and she blamed it on USPS. Of course, an hour after I talked to her on the phone, I got the latest catalog ! Needless to say, my fever pitch over wanting the Options needles has cooled a bit, so I can make a more rational decision based on what I actually use and need (that sounds sucky, huh?..what happened to that great b-day gift to myself ???)

i don’t ‘get’ the KP process for their catalogs! i have only received one in the 6 months since i signed up for it…:?? how am i supposed to order w/o my internet if i don’t have a current catalog?
The last kp catalogue I got was the fall 2007 and the expiration date was 9-21-07, how come I haven’t gotten one either? I think we should start emailing them.
Dotty: The only way I’m going to be able to be on bedrest is to live at Grandmas during the week and at home on the weekends-that’s what we did before. Grandma is my mother’s mom and will be 78 onthe 15th! Not only will she have us to look after but she also dogsits my moms 2 papillons during the week while my mom works as an RN for a family practice doc. dh’s dad is retired and has offered to take the kids several hours a day or for a couple days during the weeks and get them out of the house so Grandma, the dogs and I can have some quiet. I don’t knowwhat we’d do without family, esp Grandma?! So as you keep me in your prayers please also keep her in your prayers too. Thanks for the support & the legs are crossed-not that it will do much good when the baby is sooooo tiny.
Hi All,
jberry16… please take care of yourself. I’ll be praying for a November baby!!
GJ, I’m so glad you’re okay !
A tree about 15 feet from my bedroom window is as close as we ever got in a lightning strike, but I can tell you that it showered huge splinters of wood all down on the house and woke us out of a sound sleep. We thought a war had started ! :noway:
jberry, thinking of you and the baby…thoughts and prayers go out to you all…hang in their little baby the world will still be here in Nov. for ya…
how do you know what needle one is to start the heel? I am a bit confused…

and how do I get the Ravelry icon on my posts like you guys have?
Pauly, the pattern usually tells you to join, then place a marker so that you’ll know that that is needle # 1. I always just look at where the tail of yarn is hanging from, and I know that that is my beginning needle. As I get farther along on the cuff, I sometimes take my tapestry needle and weave that tail up the cuff toward the needles, so that I can still see which needle it’s hanging from. Does that make sense?
Hi jberry, sending my love to you and Baby Caitlin, it is much fun to be in mommy’stummy, so hang on till Nov. OK.
Jberry, hugs for you and baby.
GJ, sorry about the lightning. Glad you’re all ok. Now you can go shopping! :teehee:
I’m having a problem getting motivated to start my 2nd sock. I have one lonely sock that needs a mate, but I have gotten so caught up in my Palindrome scarf. I was hoping this wouldn’t happen, but ahhhh…there it is.
I hope everything goes well with the baby!!
Thank you all for your warm wishes, good thoughts and prayers. Its so nice to have a group of friends to talk to. I’ll keep yall updated. For some reason I can’t figure out why I didn’t get an email to let me know there were new posts. Sometimes I get them immediately and other times I dont get them at all-nobody changes anything on my computer so I have no idea. OK gotta get dressed, talk to y’all later.
Jberry, I’ll keep you and your precious baby in my prayers!
Getting hit by lightning sucks! We have damage to just enough stuff to cost us money, but not enough to have insurance cover it. Our deductible is $2500. That’s about what it costs to replace all the stuff that got zapped, so it isn’t even worth making a claim. :hair: So much for going shopping!
julie- praying for you and baby to be healthy no matter the outcome
gina- sometimes, i don’t think insurance is very helpful. that really sucks. I hope the repairs go smoothly
april- i say, finish the scarf, then cast on for your second sock Knitting should be enjoyable and not feel like a task (probably why i am so slow and only have a few things finished
)
anyhow! i am still working on dh’s socks. i need to finish them so i can use the needle to knit my nieces Lello socks.
LELLO !

I miss that ! I used to tell my granddaughter…
“Try this…yes, yes, yellow !”
She’d say,
“Yes, yes, LELLO !” :roflhard:

No pun intended, but I feel like kind of a heel posting this after someone’s else’s bad news. But count me in, too.
I’m knitting a pair of toe up socks on two circs using the Universal Toe Up Sock Formula from Knitty. I’ve decided to use the yarn I bought with some birthday money back in January and was afraid to use, until now. The short row toes make for some interesting color changes with this self striping yarn. I’ve knit socks before, but not from the toe up, not with short rows in the heel or toes, and not on 2 circs, so this is part of it is new. So far, I’m liking it better than cuff down on DPN’s because there’s no ladders and I can try them on as I go! :cheering:
