Any Sock KAL

Love all the socks I’ve seen!

I’ve finished my breeze! :woohoo:

I uses flotte socke baumwolle for it. it’s 75% cotton, 25% nylon. I really loved the pattern. this is how they turned out:

I already started a new pair of socks: scolls from msks. I’m doing it toe up in thick yarn (phil thalassa, which is 75% cotton and 25% seacell)

this is my first sock and my first project on dpn’s thanks for the incuragment I just knit 2 round and there is nothing to be scared of. ( as I wipe my brow)

Good Morning Socksters!!!

Dotty~So cute!! Great job :happydance:

Lieke~Those look wonderful!!

:woot:Welcome Paul!! Yep, silver’s sock class is really nice and can’t wait to see your socks!! You can do it… I looked up the Iceland yarn and it’s a worsted so it would use bigger needles as well…Also I’ve made theseslipper socks and it uses large dpns…The first 2 rnds are the hardest till you get it going…smaller dpns are not bad and some like to knit with magic loop or 2circs…:happydance:

I’m going to CO today to either Chalet or Conwy (both Nancy Bush patterns)…just gotta decide which one… I’m going to use the bamboo village yarn :happydance:

Welcome Paul! Now we know we have a guy on board (we were wondering earlier). One thing about this kal is that there is always someone on here ready to help! I’m a stay at home mom and taking a philosophy class online, so I’m on the computer all the time.

Lieke: those are so pretty-and my favorite color!

question for those of you who have used sensational knitted socks books, I finished my sisters sock last night but only after frogging about 2" of it b/c I knit the foot too long and so when I was baout 4 rows into the toe it was longer than her foot. Her foot is 9.75" long heel-toe and that means she’s a size 8 in sks book, and according to that I should have knit the foot portion for 8". Well that’s obviously not the case. The toe decreases took 2.25" of length so I stoped the foot a little short at 7.5". Ok so this is a really long drawn out quesiton, turned into two. 1. has anyone else found her charts to be off too? and 2. I could have sworn I read somewhere to stop the foot 2" before the toe so you had enough room for the toe to be done. Where did I read that?
keep in mind when you look at the photo that her foot is narrow and mine is wide, so the sts wont be stretched on her foot.
how many of you have sock blockers? what kind? and how many of you block your socks? wonder if I should, is there a good reason to? does it make them look nicer?

btw please visit my blog to sign up for pay it forward.

Good morning, julie and (everybody) ! The sock length is one that I still struggle with. I don’t have that book, but what I’ve started doing is counting the stockinette on the sole of the sock to see how many rows per inch I’m getting on THAT sock, and then check the pattern to see how many rounds the decreases take up (sometimes I decrease down to fewer stitches than the pattern says because of my pointy feet, so I figure all of that in). It’s the only method that works really well for me. Are your sister’s socks the right length now? (That’s about the measurement of my foot, too, by the way, and I wear 8 1/2 to 9 in a shoe.) That sock looks great ! Now you know where to send any that get rejected by the intended wearer ! Just pm me and I’ll get my address right out to you…:)

The problem I had with the LumberJacks fitting hubby was that he said that they came in too narrow at the toes…he doesn’t suffer from pointy toe syndrome…:teehee:maybe I started the decreasing too early?

Lieke, those socks are JUST SO GORGEOUS…great pattern, beautiful knitting, and such a yummy color.

Yay, Paul ! If you think this is good, wait until you try MagicLoop ! Are you having any trouble with a ‘track’ running down your knitting, right where your dpns join?

Lieke, I love the color! They really look great!

dotty… congrats on finishing!

I finished one of the socks for my dad, It only took me 4 days, thats a record for me! But it was a easy pattern and i used US 3s.

I know the foot looks huge but they will fit my dad.

Nice job, Alexandria ! S’mores ? Very good manly colors !:woohoo:

rory, the socks do look like s’mores and the foot looks really short and fat to me, but if it fits that’s great! my sis’s sock looks really skinny and long.
Dotty: if I need to send of any socks, I’ll think of you first  Mom’s foot is narrow like my sisters but a little shorter, so she may end up with them if my sis says they’re too short-who knows. I just want christmas knitting to be over with so I can get onto other things! All I have left is sock #2 and the darn black scarf for Mom-hate knitting w/black-did I mention that before, maybe yesterday? jk
Well homework is done for today-quiz tomorrow, and the kids are finger painting-messily I might add; but that’s the fun part, right? So I think I’ll hold off on my shower until they go down for a nap and just sit and knit while they paint. ttfn

Good morning Socksters!

everyones socks look so great! i love the color and heels on Liekes socks, dotty- those little man socks are too cute  and rory, your dads sock looks like s’mores to me too, yum!
i am about 1.5 inches past the toes on dh grey socks. i got that part done on sunday. they have been waiting since then, as i casted on wisp, from knitty, and been working on that and my summertime tunic. (it’ll be done in time for NEXT summer :teehee: )

oh! dotty, i think they are actually 2 and 4 inches, no selvage. they were ebay buys.(the fabric squares)

jeanius, take a measurement when you get a chance, to see if they’re with or without the 1/2 inch, and I’ll know how to direct you from there.

Yup, its S’mores. I wish I had more,so I could knit a pair of socks for me! I love the colors. But I don’t understand the blue grey color, I mean its called S’mores. I still like the colors!

rorygilmore, I just sent you a private message, and then got to thinking that if you’re anything like me, you don’t even notice when you have one…anyway, you DO !

Dotty: I think under the user controll panel you can have it alert you with a pop up or email when you have a pm.
on another note, I just got back from the PO - couldn’t stand the fact that the harmony needles weren’t smooth where the wood joined the metal of the cord-will wait for my metal exchange to come before starting my sister’s other sock.

rory~Love your dad’s socks…great job :happydance:

I have sks and haven’t had any troubles…but a lot of times on the foot I don’t really measure it…just try it on… I feel like I get a better estimate of it that way…I do stop 2" before the toes though…

The final cat sock is almost done… I couldn’t let it go anymore… I should be able to bo tonight… it’s going really fast for me now :teehee:…I basically know the sock by memory…and I think ML is faster for me now :oo:…

That stinks about the harmony needle… I was thinking of getting some of those for ML…

Jeanius…my summer tunic is still waiting as well… :teehee:

i think i have done about 2 inches on my tunic :teehee:

Hey Socksters!!
I’m playimg catch up again. But this time I have a good excuse (kind of). I got my Ravelry invite yesterday so I’ve been trying to get acquainted with all it has going on. Wow!! Lot’s of fun. I started entering some projects and stash but I’m not finished yet. And I don’t even have any stash to speak of! :teehee:

Anyway wanted to pop in and say hi.

aprildavis99 … great job!!! Your first sock and cute little anklets at that. :woohoo: Now the bug (the sock bug) will bite. You’ll be like the rest of us, sock obsessed.

jberry16… love your sister’s socks and I have to say I love reading your posts, your life sounds like my life 20 something years ago. I had three and they kept me busy. Have fun with that finger painting. We used to make homemade playdough too on special days. We could really have fun with the colors then.

dotty… Bubby’s socks are too cute!! Hope you get a picture of him wearing them. My grandson has that nickname too, that and sometimes Bubba. He was two in July. But his Dad, calls him “dupey doo”.
And love your little bag… you’re one talented lady, walk and knit! I could never, lol.

Lieke… the breezes are so so pretty!!! The color is . I might have to add those to the ever growing list.

rorygilmore… those S’mores are terrific. Lucky Dad. I wouldn’t mind having a pair in that color myself!

jeanius80… I’m sure DH doesn’t mind waiting his turn for socks ;), those other projects sound too tempting to set aside, especially for a grey sock (it was grey right?).

dustinac… can’t wait to see the final cat socks! And we can’t all be a quick as you, mmm… ML huh? Maybe if I can catch my breath I’ll have to consider giving that or circs a try. :knitting:
I’m using that BV yarn for my 9 to 5’s. I like it. Nice and squishy.

So here’s my progress. I’m actually another couple of inches further along (WOW!!!) since I knit a little on the train today after I took this picture last night.

And Welcome Paul!!
Happy Knitting All:knitting::knitting: Look for me on Ravelry (suzygirl)

It’s so fun when you catch up, cinnamongirl !

SQUISHY ! That 's the perfect definition for that yarn…maybe even add in ‘‘SPOINGY’’ ! It isn’t the same kind of soft as merino wool…that’s more ‘lofty soft’. I just love to squeeze on my BambooVillage socks !

That green is as gorgeous as I knew it would be, too !

I just learned another skill by knittning socks. I learned how to tell if The next stitch is a knit stich or a purl stitch!!! No more counting stitches.

cinnamongirl: we had lots of fun painting, not too big of a mess today. Playdoh is fun too-made that a few times. LOVE your green socks!!! I may have to order some, who’d it come from again?
If you like magic loop stay away from the harmony needles, they’re evil. The join to the metal from the wood
will eat your yarn!
Way to go Paul! isn’t it fun…

I’ve cast on an earflap hat for ds tonight from the book Adorable Knits for Tots but didn’t like the fact that she wanted me to knit it flat and then seam it up-so I’m doing it magic loop too. size 5 options with the 32" cord-another reason to love the options! Got some done on Mom’s scarf today, not much but like my neighbor said, it will go faster once you get some length on it. Ok well everyone else is asleep, except the bun in my oven-kicking all over the place. Afraid this one will be a night owl, o well. Time for a glass of milk and bed. night night.
good morning Jackie.

Yay, Paul ! That’s about the MOST useful thing you can learn ! :)

jberry, it looks like she may have sold all of her lighter green…here’s her darker green that I made my Child’s French Socks out of …
