Any Sock KAL

WELCOME SIG and anyone else that I might have missed.

Dotty, love the Monkey Toe got it printed out.

I finally was able to work on the Gansey sock last night and a little this morning. I’d really like to get it done this weekend.

OH I’m now part of the Ravelry groupies. I’m k1c2.

Hope everyone has a great weekend!
Carla

I not one to lurke, but I admit I have on this one and now that I’m to the gusset sts on my second sock I figured I’d join, if that’s ok with y’all. You can see pics of sock #1 on my blog. Nothing fancy, just a plain sock, I decided I’d let the opal yarn do the pretties for me this time. And I have a neighbor that used opal to make socks, but she did a heavy pattern and it didn’t look to good. I’m hoping to complete these this weekend and do a pair for my dh, since he gave me sad puppy dog eyes last night asking for socks. He wants them warm and thick. I told him I’d do some 100% wool in dk from knitpicks.com and he’d forgotten I’d already orderd the yarn (last year) I’m hoping to do 2 at once toe up on the ml, but just need Silver to answer a few quesitons for me. :tap:jk. I also want to do a pair of toe up for myself out of blue regina with a fern design starting just above the toe and going up…think that’d be really pretty. Again just have to find out if I can reverse the sts given in sks for toe up instead of top down? any ideas? or is that question clear as mud?

Welcome Jberry:happydance:…your sock looks good!!

I made my dh WV socks this year and last year just a black pair… both were out of Patons wool and went pretty fast :teehee: just boring… some of our gals are making their dh’s socks out of normal sock yarn… :passedout:

I’ve only done one toe up sock the other I frogged… and then I just followed Eunny’s pattern so I don’t know :??

1to1 added ya on ravelry… :woot:

dotty… :tap:I’m still trying to pass up that orange you posted the shop to yesterday…:fingerwag:

papergirl…I hope your mil feels better soon…

I can’t really answer your question, either, jberry  .
Did you mean sks (in which case, what is that?) or ssk ?

I know that some people have posted pictures on flickr where they did a sock from the opposite direction, and the pattern was such that it came out upside down. Kindof depends on the nature of the pattern, I guess…a rib would probably look the same, where a swag would be flipped.

Everytime I get high-falutin’ and brag on something, I get kicked in the teeth…I’m a southern girl…I should know better than to be immodest !
So, I’ve just spent the last hour trying to switch from my short-row heel, back to knitting around the sock. I always have trouble figuring out how you’re supposed to pick up that last wrapped purl stitch, which is now facing you as a knit stitch ??? But I love FUDGE, and I’ve applied a little bit of fudging…enough to satisfy me, I think ! Just makes me dread the second sock !

Ooh, speaking of fudge, I’m starving…
off to fry the chicken…:waving:

By the way, here’s that FiberFriday thread…
http://www.etsy.com/forums_thread.php?thread_id=5213611… she’s been offering me free surprises if I buckle…!!! One of you guys REALLY needs to buy that Opal !

jberry, I forgot to say …WELCOME !

And just for the record…that Opal sock of yours is GORGEOUS…doesn’t help me resist that skein of destash one little bit… I think YOU should buy it !

Tempt…tempt…tempt…

by sks I meant Sensational knitted socks, but I found my answer (I think) in the More Sensational Knitted Socks, she has directions for top down and toe up in there both with either heel flap or short row heel…fell kinda dorky now that I asked before I looked. I understand the Southern girl thing, same here. Fried chicken sounds good, and thanks for the welcome. I’m working on the foot of sock #2 now and I am betting it will be to the toe decreases by bed time…may just have to stay up late and finish it. I’d jump on that opal yarn, just dont have any money right now. there’s always the visa, :teehee:, but dh wouldn’t appreciate that, of course I’d scold him if he used it now too. o well…I have several skeins of sock yarn waiting in my stash chest (you can see pics in my early bloging) including one I still have to decide what color to dye it. hummmmm. Guess I’ll start on dh’s socks next, thought I’d really like to knit another pair for me now…I do have several sets of sock needles, o the choices:knitting:

that yarn is so tempting, just to be able to say I only paid $7.75 after shipping for Opal! too bad there’s no money in the bank…a person could go bankrupt buying yarn.

We are a SICK lot !

See, now that’s where it harder to be ‘broke’ these days. In the old days, it would have meant you really couldn’t get your hands on ANY way to pay, unless you sold your oldest child into slave labor. Now, there’s always something you can dip into…EVEN IF YOU’RE NOT SUPPOSED TO !

What do you mean I already have plenty of yarn, honey? :roflhard:

Found a shot of what that colorway will look like when knitted…it’s No. 1011, Lollipop…
http://www.fifthstitch.com/opal/opallollie.htm
…not helping, huh?

hummm, I was thinking of just renting the oldest out, then I could still use him as a tax credit (more money that way). And I didn’t mean to say I have plenty of yarn, there’s no such thing, I meant to say that I have enough to keep me busy for a while. silly me. :aww: You help lots with that last photo-you meanie! I’ve actually held that yarn in the lys and thought that’d be just perfect for me b/c I wear jeans all the time-no no no, I’m not doing it, no no no! (weeelllll may b) no, can’t do it!

Hee ! You think I’m a meanie ! She’s offering me extra surprises if I go for it…isn’t that illegal or something !

:teehee: I think you should go for it dotty and tell us what the surprises are…you know you want it… and that is a very very good price… come on now…

I just opened an etsy shop (thanks to you) that is offering 30% off till midnight…:wall:

:teehee: My secret pal e-mailed me and asked just a few questions…I e-mailed her back a book and told her yeah that is what happens when you ask a southerner something…you don’t get yes/no…

I think you’re a meanie, dotty, b/c you are wanting me to buy it. I agree with dustinac, it’s a hell of a price, and if you get it and don’t want it you could always send it to me and keep the surprise. just a thought.:flirt:

I like your diaper covers, what pattern do you like most?

You guys are killing me !!!

And, dustinac, when you said you ‘opened’ an Etsy shop, I thought you meant you went into business !

that’s what I thought too, hence the question about the diaper covers.
so whatcha think, Dotty? gonna buy it and send it to me???

I’m finding new help in resisting, right here on the home front…I just got into my fridge, and the thermometer I keep in there says it’s 52 degrees !

That CAN’T be good !

Looks like I’m going to be sweet-talking a repairman this week…ugh, it’s a holiday weekend !!! :waah:

:teehee:yeah that’s another thing I kinda type how I talk…like you were sitting right here with me… which confuses people… brendajos can back me up on this…:teehee:I didn’t open the shop…meant opened the link to her shop:aww:

I like her yarn… thisis my favorite…

I’ve been wanting this one for awhile… http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=6182279
I know nothing about Buffy…but that would be black with the hot pink, right? Not navy blue?

And this one
http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=6182246

Ooh…we’re horrible ! :roflhard:

:teehee: I liked the lime green and black too…

I hope your fridge is ok… I can’t stand surprises like that…

sorry about your fridge, at least you have a thermometer in it, ours died twice last year, and we lost lots of meat (grrr) and we didn’t even have a thermometer, I thought one of the kids left the door open the first time and when it didn’t cool down I was ticked to say the least. When I finally got a thermometer in ther it was 67. call 'em now and see if they can get you in as an emergency, if not go get some dry ice and a monster cooler.
both those yarns are really pretty, gave me a good idea for my next sock yarn waiting to be dyed-gotta love kool-aid and knit pics bare yarn! ok of to eat supper now, be back in a while.
