I’m right there with ya on the snow thing. We had some fall last week, it’s been cold enough to stick around, Thursday had a few flurries, but nothing that stuck. Then yesterday and today it’s been melting. It rained last night and with the warmer temps, the snow is almost gone. Except of course for the 4 foot banks the snow plow pushed around. The weather site I watch says we’ll have rain for a few days with snow again possibly by Wednesday, definitely by Friday. But it’s supposed to be 13 Celicius today!! After weeks of negative temps, this is going to seem positively hot!
I’ve got half the ribbing done on the second baby sock. I was wanting to get it all done last night, but started having really bad tummy pains and just couldn’t knit anymore. I took a bath and they eased up, but by middle of the night and this morning, they’re back in force. Not bad enough for me to head to the hospital as of yet, and since it’s not caused by the baby, all they’ll do is shoot me up with morphine and send me home. I’d rather not get the baby high right now.
Jenny_ I didn’t realize that was your first sock! how fun & way to go! Tummy pains? Like contractions or Braxton Hicks? Hope you’re doing ok-Emily needs to stay inside at least another 8 weeks. Let us know how you’re doing later today. It may help to lay down on your left side.
No, they’re higher up…under my boobs, which is why I figured it was liver / bile duct related. However, right now I’m having some pretty painful cramping down low. I’m not sleeping well at night, due to hip pain (dang loose joints), so I don’t think anyone here will mind if I go lay down for awhile.
You know, I never understood why everyone says to lay on the left side. Even during labor if the baby isn’t handling it well, they tell you to lay on the left side. DH thinks it has something to do with the position of the mother’s heart…I dunno.
Jenny thinking or you and Emily…go rest and keep us updated when you can!!
Cookie has another newpattern…:happydance: I’m not letting myself get this one till I start/finish her latest new one Marilinda sock…but it’s very pretty!! :happydance:
And have you guys seen Knitspot’s new sock?? Pretty
And the new take on Jaywalkers…skywalkers(wish they had a better photo)
And then thisone… I really like it wish it was downloadable…:teehee:
Awesome new patterns…girl, you must have done SOME internet surfin’ ! Cookie makes THE TALLEST SOCKS ! ! ! Gorgeous designs !

I bet you could figure that last one out on your own, with all of your colorwork experience !

Finally got to read the pattern for the Quilted Leaf Lace socks last night…I think I can use the design, but like you said, fibrenut, I don’t think I’ll be using the entire pattern as is…it leaves a lot to the knitter’s previous experience, huh? But, I’m always grateful for new stitch patterns, and seeing as how I’m not exactly churning out new patterns for other knitters, I shouldn’t complain if I have to fill in a few blanks !

I’m loving the nightie knittin’, although it’s definitely sizing up to be a tank top (which is what I really want anyhow !) Right now, I’m at the point where the knitting is now in rows, after binding off the center back stitches, and you have to bind off one stitch at the beginning of every row for 16 rows. The bindoffs done from the right side look fine, but I’m not so sure about the ones done in purl stitch. They look kindof funny to me, but since there are only 2 right now, I’ll try to reserve judgement. And I’m used to having to keep bindoffs loose (on socks and hats and such), so I bound the center back stitches off loosely, and it looks like the back may ‘gape open’ somewhat ! I’m so new to this clothing thing, but loving it, so it’s all good ! :teehee:

Jenny from what I understand if you lay on your left side then the organs are not pushed all together & I think all organs drain that way, and if your blood pressure is high then they have you lay on your left side and it will go down pretty much immediately. Loose joints, just the relaxin hormone released during the later part of pregnancy-fun huh? Sleeping does get harder but I can speak from personal experience that the longer the baby is in the better! Caitlin (now 7 weeks old) was in the longest for me at 37 weeks and 3 days! My shortest was 36 weeks & 2 days, and let me tell you that week made a world of difference! my 36 weeker was in the NICU for 11 days because of breathing issues. Rest, because you are the ONLY one who can insure the health of Emily right now. She’s not your first, is she?
Dotty, it’s easy enough to sew a little bit to fix gaping-don’t you think?
Dustina how are those gloves comming? I will go back and look at the patterns you posted.
I’m with you, Julie…I’m already thinking how pretty it would look to thread a green satin ribbon through the top of those stitches at the back and tie it in a bow !
Hang in there Jenny, and tell us about your other ‘spawn’, as you call them in your blog…VERY FUN BLOG, by the way !:roflhard:
Caitlin’s growing big, she has her 2 month check up and shots next Tuesday, can’t wait to see how much she weighs! She’s a chunk-Will post pics on my blog hopefully tomorrow.
Ok now tell my why again I like putting up sooo many Christmas trees?? Cause at some point they have to come down :passedout: …
That is what my day has been…running to wally world… cleaning the house… tearing down trees… and I still have the kid’s trees to go which Isaiah’s is nothing to tear down but Roo’s… I’m thinking of just carrying it and putting it in their closet :teehee: …no knitting on glove or anything today…
dotty~ I go to ravelry then pattern’s tab…then pattern browers…then check knitting, photos, socks… then I chose recently added and zoom you have all your new sock patterns :happydance: …the ribbon sounds very pretty!!
Julie~ Can’t wait to see picts!!
Jackie~ :teehee: he’s a cutie!!
Okey dokey I’m off to try and talk dh into working on my back… relieve some pressure from the middle part… and then I need to make some baby booties cause the blanket just isn’t going to happen… and I need to have them done and in the mail by Wed…no later than Friday… :blooby:
I took the plunge…I created a blog ! It’s not much yet, but it’s a start !
Dustina, I got your message on flickr, and I’m overwhelmed with the choices !!!
This’ll take me a little time to pick something, but go ahead and send me your fabric. If you don’t have a coordinate, just tell me your favorite of the colors that are in YOUR fabric.
I finished the other sock this evening. I wasn’t able to knit much on it during the day, due to on and off cramping. But I did spend most of the day in bed and things seemed okay. But then at dinner, after just a few bites, I was hit by pains so intense, I had to get up and try to do something to make it stop. I waited until DH finished his dinner, then we went for a waddle and by the time we got back home, it was better, but not totally gone. So, I was able to finish up the other sock and now I have a pair.
I figured out what the yarn is too. I believe it’s Rowan cotton blend. In the box my friend sent me, there was pink, blue, and white with no ball band, and a green with a band. The texture and feel of the balls are all the same, so I’m guessing this is it. It’s a worsted weight, which is probably why the socks look so big to me. I’ve got some DK weight (which the pattern calls for) so I’ll be trying that next.
Dotty…my spawn…hehe. They’re 12 and 11, one boy, one girl. Neither one of their pregnancies caused issues like I’m having now. Everything with this baby seems to be coming earlier and stronger than with the 2 previous. The relaxing joints have been an issue for almost 2 months now. I’ve had Braxton Hicks for about the same amount of time as well. I’ve also had some painful contractions, but nothing regular and they always go away.
With DD, I had to be induced, and DS was transverse breech, so he wasn’t coming out on his own. I have a feeling that Emily will have no trouble arriving into the world all by her little lonesome. 8 more weeks. I’m holding out for 8 weeks, then if she wants to come after that, more power to her.
:blooby: Good Morning Socksters!! This morning is running smoother than yesterday!
Julie and Jenny my first Entrelac was Danicaand then Interweave’s Socks they had by Eunny…I found it really helpful to knit backwards instead of turning all the time…
Julie aww she is such a cutie!!
dotty~ yeah I have a pretty bad stash that is leading me to feel pretty guilty right now lol… I’ll get it together this week and have dh take it to the PO with me at the end or beg. of next… the PO guy and me had a bit of a not so good converstaion before Christmas and now I won’t go…I had dropped dh off at the ER for more tests and went after pkg tape…I sealed the boxes in my car… he didn’t like the taping job, the boxes, how I did the address, that the addys was not inside the box or on the side of the box, then wanted a list of what I was sending, I could feel my cheeks getting hot cause of the way he was talking down to me… I just knew great I will lose it here in the PO when Roo got on her tippy toes and looked up at him and said Hey my daddy is at the hosiptal for tests we gotta go get him… and then he softened a bit on me…but I told dh I won’t go back!! :teehee:
Jenny~ thinking of you both today and :woot: on the socks!!
I keep thinking I’ll do a blog but haven’t yet… worried I might not have much to say…but my post here show otherwise :teehee:
I hope you all have a good day of knitting!! off to read dotty’s blog :blooby:
ETA:I can’t rember if I posted this or not…but JD is normal :woot: the dr says…he thinks it is caffeine and maybe stress since what kicked it off was driving on bad roads… his dr office is no longer normal cause I was kinda peeved that no one had called us :oo:
Dotty joined the blogging world-wa ha hahahaha (sounding wicked)
Dustina, you should start a blog, even if you just have a little to say once a week I would enjoy reading it. Until last night I hadn’t posted since 12-14-07. You’re not required to make any posts (well ok by us you are, but not by the blogger site.)
Jenny all my pregnancies were different too, each one braxton hicks started earlier and the relaxing of joints too. The last one (Caitlin) I started braxton hicks at about 3 1/2 months & the relaxin at about 6 months. But each labor got much shorter! With Caitlin I went from 8cm and having my water broke to holding her in my arms in 27min!
Not sure if there will be much knitting done today b/c for one I have mounds of laundry to fold and put away but more importantly I was making bread last night and the darn machine wouldn’t knead it so I did and re-injured my wrist. I’ve already soaked it in salt and soda once today and now that I’ve eaten some breakfast I’ll take some Motrin and will continue to wear the brace etc and hopefully I can knit tomorrow if not tonight. Typing doesn’t feel good, and I’m SUPER slow doing things with my left hand, Why do I always have to injur my right hand?
happy knitting…
Hiya guys:hug:
Dustina, I am soo glad to hear that everything is ok, hubby wise that is…LOL!!! Sorry bout the idjuts at the post office. No wonder that term was coined back in the 80’s about goin “postal”.
Dotty, love the blog hun, I really need to be more attentive to mine though, not just here n there n all that stuff. But actual, “sheesh, this day has been like total blech!” or “wowzers, check that out,…dayang!!!” I should really keep that up. I know I write novellas in here all the time but I just can’t seem to write relevant things in the ol’ blog. I basically wanted to keep that one on blogger strictly knitting and I do have my yahoo360 (which unfortunately they are doing away with in a coupla months, sheesh) where I have my cake pics n knitting stuff and etc.'s. I also have a windows livespace which i really need to update badly. That one covers just bout everything but is in sore need of updating thats fer sure.
AACCKKK!!! Novel alert!
Alle, gotta watch out, them #3 babies have a habit of just poppin out when it’s time. LOL. :noway:
O yeah, knitting, sheesh how could i ferget… Got the body of the pinwheel done, discovered a new (to me anyways) way to bind off. Have discovered the wonderful world of I-cord bind off!!! WOOHOO!!! Just such a lovely neat edge doncha think?:happydance:
Workin on the sleeves now. I did make it a little bigger than the pattern calls for as my shoulders are linebacker size. The pattern is quite easy to manipulate size wise. But to finish it so I can get back to instant gratification of sox. WOHOOO!!:clink:
QOTD: Do you belong to any Knit Togethers? And do you have fun?
It is great to see all the posting again. With Dotty gone and the holidays, things sure slowed around here.
Dotty, it must be the year for new bloggers. But I must say your’s will be the most colorful.
Dustinac, thanks for sharing all the new patterns.
Jenny, my kids are 12 & 14 now and I remember not being able to eat much the last couple months…DH always gained weight when I was PJ cuz I didn’t eat much (why don’t I have that problem now?!).
Julie, she is ahdorable!
Well, I finally picked up the Pomotomus again. I really don’t like doing socks one at a time but I was afraid to do two with this pattern.
:woot:I ordered some of KnitPicks new 40"!! Actually, I ordered all the sizes (like 6 pairs):woot:
Dotty, can you believe they listened? It would have been nice if they were a little more forthcoming with the news though. Now I can’t wait to get them.
I had the pattern for the fingerless mitts all posted, and when I went to edit it and change one thing, I lost the entire post ! It’s in my drafts, but I can’t see how to publish it again without totally retyping it…I won’t do it !
Never say never, and never say DIE ! I couldn’t figure it out, but I did repost the whole darned thing ! Hee !
