Jenny~ I have that book… what info are you missing? I love entrelac it can be addicting… :happydance:
Ta Da one of mom’s socks is done… I displayed it with me wearing mine since they are exactly the same :teehee:
Annndddd I started a glove today…yeah I know I think I have knitting ADD right now… I have 1 mitten finished for me… 1 sock finished for mom… a wrap halfway done… a Cookie Sock that I tried different yarns out on… and now thisglove…(takes ya to my flickr page…) I’m using a blue I dyed and the Pink from Julie :happydance:
Once I’ve done that 4 round repeat 20 times, I don’t know what to do next.
I have to say the pink and blue yarns are gorgeous! And I love your colour work. I haven’t the courage yet to try stranding, although I have a pattern I want to do for a friend’s birthday (thank god it’s in October…I have time).
Dustinac, you make great socks. I still haven’t tried stranded knitting in sock, I’m a bit scared it’ll become to tight and I won’t be able to get them on.
As for my socks, they are going fine. I’ve got about 4 inch of the foot done (on both socks, they are 2 on 1 circ) so I’m really satisfied with that progress.
But, I’ve got a question. With the magic looping, I get ladders. When I knit with 5 dpns it’s no problem. I’ve tried pulling the first and second stitch tight, even pulled the first 3 stitches tight, but nothing seems to help. Any suggestions?
Thank you… I was worried about the pink and blue but I think it is working out… I more of a neutral color gal I guess? I’m trying to expand my yarn colors and what I wear :teehee:
Jenny~ I sent you an e-mail… I’m not sure about copy wright laws and all that…
Lieke~ Can’t wait to see the new socks!! With Magic Looping I have a problem when I first join the socks… I found that CO one extra but moving it to the needle I will be joing and then doing a k2tog really helps…and knitting the 2nd st tight… now on color work I seem to get more of a jog in between on the other side and I’m not sure why…
You both should try color work for socks… really knitting with both hands has helped out a lot with the to tight factor… and grabbing the yarn every 3rd st even if I change color on the 4th st…
I’m hoping to work on my glove today… I’m hoping the co isn’t to tight… I hope you all have a great day of knitting!! :blooby:

So, instead I went to ravelry n got some of my books n mags put in ( I have hundreds btw, mags that is). And put in the project I’m workin on right now. Also posted some of my pics of fo’s on flickr (user id is chaptlps) and got some feeds on my yahoo home page. So I guess I did get some things done. O well. Got a lot done on my pinwheel sweater too.
I still have tons n tons of sock yarn to take care of so no worries I still have sox in the works comin on. In the queue as they say.

Julie~ Thank you!! :teehee: I think it should be a word
dotty~ Thank you!! I answered your co question on flickr…although I wasn’t a lot of help… I really hope it works out on the 2nd glove…by the time I got a CO I was happy with I was about to forget the whole thing :teehee: …when I seen the quilted pattern I thought ohhh dotty!!!
fibrenut~Thank you!! I missed that you were on ravelry!! I found out yesterday that they had a place for magazines when I went to add some books lol… I didn’t get very far though cause I didn’t want to make a mess by pulling them all out of my shelves :teehee:
I’m starting up the thumb gussets now… woohooo :happydance:
I got that Favorite Socks book from the library a while back, and I thought it was good. (Though there aren’t many men’s sock patterns of course . . . )
Anyway, here we are with the winter sock:
Since I took this (Friday night) I did all the decreases and now it’s on to finishing off the foot.
Has anyone made those Earl Grey socks I posted about? The gauge is very fine (10 st/in)… I was wondering what size needle you used if you did? The smallest I have right now is a 2 (2.75mm) and I don’t think I’m making gauge with that size.
Steve those look great!!
You could get some from kp the size 0’s or 2.00mm size. I bought the kp dpn sock needle set. They have sizes 2.0, 2.25, 2.5, 2.75, 3.0 and 3.25 which translates into us sizes as 0,1,1,2,2, and 3.
It had been a few days since my last post, due to Jayne’s school re-opens on 2Jan 2008. Oh, my little girl is a Primary 4 student tis year and also i m having some logged in problem on the first few day of the New Year (keep asking me to log in, as a guest cant reply to any threads…hmm)
Anyway, I m back to the normal rountine with Jayne in school (last week was not a full school week as school started/re-open on Wednesday ends on Friday)
Here i am, feeling good to post again. Great to see our Dotty starts posting, and Steve too.
Dustinac - Are u buying the new KP’s yarn ?
I had used the KP’s nicket plated dpns for preemie hat and a mindless sock, it kind of heavy, so switched back to the bamboo ones.
Yeah, I ought to just bite the bullet and buy the 5 circulars I need to complete my collection. But I shouldn’t buy any more knitting stuff for a while. (Shouldn’t . . . )
ohh dotty I think what you are seeing is not really my CO but the purl rows she has us do after it… the way you criss cross the colors gives it a very pretty detail… :passedout: I just frogged my glove… the Cast on was to tight…but then I noticed a bad ladder section after I started the thumb gusset sigh so I decided to start over and that is when I noticed the purl rows :teehee:
SteveDallas~:happydance: They look great!! I haven’t tried those socks yet…basically for sock knitting I use a US 0 or 1… very rarely do I go up… I am for the snowflake socks but the yarn is dk weight…
Jackie~ :happydance: YAY!! So glad you will be posting often again…I didn’t know KP had some new yarn lol… :happydance:
:blooby: off to run clothes through the spin cycle one more time before they hit the dryer…then try that glove again :oo:
Dustinac - got the email, thanks a ton! It will tide me over until I can get the book again and scan the patterns I want. I think with the copyright laws, as long as you aren’t copying and selling the pattern or selling the finished product, it’s okay…I think.
Anyway, I didn’t work on the Bliss blanket at all today. Instead, I knit…drum roll please…a sock!
It’s a baby sock from the Baby Heads and Toes book. I used the infant directions, but I think it’s going to be too big for a newborn. Either way, I CO immediately for the other sock, so I might have the pair done tonight.
How adorable, alleusion ! No telling what all you’ll have knitted for that precious baby when she arrives ! The way we lost baby socks around here, maybe you’d better knit 3 or 4 alike ,…:teehee:

Dustina, you may be right…I don’t know…I just like the way it looks like sideways ‘v’s’ all around the cuff !

Great job, SteveDallas ! Love that blue, too ! I just love it when I get past the gusset decreases and it’s all smooth sailing ! And then the second sock has all the guesswork done, so…yippee !!!

I guess I’m a ‘one-project’ knitter, because, as badly as I want to start socks, I just can’t put this nightie down. It says that the 6 skeins I have of this green will make the second size that I’m following…I hope so, but I have two lighter shades of green that I hope I can work into it as I go up if I have to, and make it look like ‘I meant to do that !’ It’s at 9 inches in this last shot, about 3 inches away from starting the top shaping, and this is the end of the third skein (50gm, Cascade Pima/tencel). Mostly, though, I’m concerned about the curly edge…I don’t think PimaCotton/tencel is going to let me block it flat !

Dotty: I think it’s pretty- the curling looks like it’s meant to be that way.
Dustina: how sad to have to tink it, booo hooo
Jenny: The sock is so cute, but if I may, I think the cuff looks too big and the foot is too short-just a guess. The purple sock on my blog fit my little girl from 0-6weeks. I did a toe up pattern b/c I was wanting to learn, but it’d be easy enough to switch it to a top down if you’d like to. just an idea.
The opening for the foot (inside the cuff is pretty small. I’m not too fussed on making this perfect. I have no idea what the yarn is, or it’s weight so I could be using the incorrect yarn for the pattern. A friend sent me a box of yarn she destashed a few months ago and this ball was in it. It looks and feels like cotton and more than likely a worsted weight. The pattern calls for DK weight. I just wanted to use this yarn.
I do plan on doing this pattern again, it was so easy. Next time though, I’m going to find some DK weight to use with it. Since it’s really my first sock, I’m just glad I was able to complete it.
I have to admit, I kind of scratched my head and said “huh” at the turning of the heel.
Jenny~ Very cute little sock!! Congrats on your first sock!! :woot:
dotty~ I agree I think it looks like it should be there…it’s gonna be so pretty!! :happydance:
Julie~ I know even my dh was sad :teehee: … I have sts CO but haven’t had time to start the first round yet…
School started back today and what a hectic morning… Isaiah really didn’t want to go… I hope after today he gets back into the swing of things cause normally he loves school…
It is sooo warm here!! We had snow last week…Sat the ground was still snow covered…yesterday it had all melted and today you don’t need a jacket… no wonder everyone has colds or sinus problems… Will give the furnace a break this week though so that’s good :teehee:
I hope you guys have a great day of knitting!! :happydance:
