Any Sock KAL

I did that VERY SAME THING !
I didn’t know about the ‘on hold’ rule, then, and got caught having to return a book before I got all I wanted out of it. Luckily I wasn’t in the middle of a project, though ! You’ll be okay, though ! Hey, you may just be convinced to order the book now, too…although it seems that I barely use the books I own…I do more patterns from online !

 Hiya all,
Dotty, I am sooo glad to see you posting regular like again!! :happydance: Very kewl sweater!!!
OO Alle, you could just use a pattern from online or one that you have already handy for the fiddly bits on the sock there (gussets, toes, etc.) and it would turn out fine.
Jberry, been there done that bought the friggen farm. I know how you feel. It is definitely a guy thing I tell ya!!
That’s happened to me more than once. I would go to the store and come back and it looked like a tornado had gone through my house. Hubby would be asleep on his chair in the living room and there would be little flour footprints ALL over the house (remember, I had at least 6 toddlers runnin around all at once and a baby too). That was just ONE incident! ARRRGGGHHHH!!! Talk about wantin to choke someone, sheesh!!! But o well. They are all pretty much grown now and no one got killed (it’s a wonder).:thud:
WOOHOOOO!!! Leike, isn’t it nice to finally get your stash?:happydance:
Dusti, I hope that the docs get their heads out of their proverbial, dark spots, n at least give you some news.
GJ, man I wish there was some way to get ergonomical knitting needles, sheesh they’ve invented ergonomical crochet hooks how come they can’t come up with knitting needles that don’t kill our hands?:waah:
Well just though I’d catch up with all the news n stuff n say howdy to ya’ll. I’ve been working on the “branching out” scarf with some ritratto (boy it sure is perty) and then probably moving back onto the fairisle for my bud.
I’ll let ya’ll know when I get to knitting another sock set. I didn’t get everyone and still have a couple more peeps here to knit em for. Besides I still have a butload of sock yarn I have to use up anyways. LOL:X:
Knit on sistuh’s, knit on!!:knitting: :out:

Hi Socksters,
HELP–I think I lost my sock mojo!!!:aww: I joined this SAM5 and can’t decide what pattern to start.

QOTD: What sock pattern are you working on? What is your favorite toe-up pattern? And cuff-down pattern?

Hopefully, your answers will inspire me.Crossed Fingers

Sock on,
Carla

o no!
?otd: What sock pattern are you working on? just a plain ol’ st st, for dh—boring. What is your favorite toe-up pattern? the only one I’ve done is the one on my blog for the baby socks. And cuff-down pattern? I really want to do one with the celtic cable down the front of the sock, no pattern that I know of, but it’s sure pretty in my head.
I need some inspiration too-or at least time to get dh’s done so I can make me some. Dotty should have a good answer or two for the ? of the day
:knitting:

yes I need to make them b/c my slippers are so worn there’s an almost hole in the sole…so I guess this is an excuse to go to Michaels tomorrow and buy yarn-dh better be watching the kids or I’ll be planning his funeral (jk-but tempting). Anyone else interested in making these?

:blooby: YAY for chatter!!! :blooby:

dotty~That is to cute!! I have an Ann Norling pattern that I go to for any neck down sweater…I just change the edgins or one time I knitted a car from a another pattern in the center :teehee: …what about a neck that has buttons? most I’ve seen though go down the shoulder… so that might not be as easy as adding a zipper? although adding a zipper scares me :teehee: it’s like steeking to me… My necks always come out a little to tight… I usually go up a needle size or two for the neck and bo…

Julie~ I make out a two week menu and then I shop for those meals… and then we normally only have to run out for more milk in between sometimes bread depending on how many PJ sandwichs Roo is into :teehee: … It tends to save us money cause I hit all the the local grocery store adds… and only shop for what is on my list…and don’t let dh go with me :oo:…

ohhh I would have beeen really really upset!! DH does pretty good… I think it’s cause Isaiah was a climber so you had to watch him every second… the only one time I remeber was Isaiah had some how managed to climb up on our counter and was eating oreos standing on the counter… I walked up the steps from the basement and caught him…dh was watching football prolly… my dad is the one you can’t leave the kids alone with :wall: (he tends to fall asleep)

Jenny~ I had the library get me KNitter’s Almanac from another library so I could make the mittens in it… so I made my copy and returned my book…so proud of myself… before Christmas I got that copy out and I didn’t copy it all :wall: …I went on amazon and bought the book for 3.00 so now I have all the directions :teehee:

fibrenut~ I love the branching out scarf…I need to make myself one…my n’bor got the one I knitted for Christmas :teehee:

QOTD~ Right now I’m working on mom’s Snowflake socks from the Interweave Magazine… I want to be working on Cookie’s new pattern…it’s so pretty… my favorite toe up? hrmmm well I’ve only made the cats and Entrelac socks…I think… favorite cuff down is my potawhateveryouspell socks by Cookie :teehee: …

Julie~ Those are cute!! I still haven’t made the clogs I told Carla I would make with her :teehee: …

I was so sad today to find out that our Payless is closing… I love that store…I can get both kids shoes on BOGO days… or me two pairs :oo: …now I’ll have to drive to Zanesville…I think they have one…

I’m trying very very hard to work from my stash… I have sooo much sock yarn that I can’t really justify buying anymore at this point… but wool girl is having a sale till the 14th and it keeps calling my name…so far I’ve only looked but I’ll be glad when it’s the 15th or the sock yarn is all gone :blooby:

:passedout: I just looked and I could make 36 pairs of socks… ok to me that is a lot and means I need to stop buying sock yarn!!

Question of the Day…
What sock am I working on currently… NONE !!! MOJO…I don’t even remember what THAT is ! ! !
Favorite toe-up pattern…my own Alex socks , using the Sherman Sock method(provisional cast-on)
Favorite top, down that I’ve made…Child’s French Socks by Nancy Bush – KNITTING VINTAGE SOCKS
I did get the zipper put into that sweater, though…I figured what the heck…what’s the worse I could do. I mean it took me two days to knit, and a little acrylic yarn,…so I stitched, steeked and sewed the zipper in by machine…thus, the bit of distortion from stretching the front of the sweater, but all in all, I think it’s wearable.
I think I WILL start me some worsted weight socks…Gina, I’m with ya’, girl ~

Hi Socksters,
Dotty, Bubby’s sweater is adorable!! I put buttons on a kid’s sweater, but it would mean taking off the neckband and opening up a shoulder seam…

Thank you all for your condolences about not being able to knit socks! It IS sad! Not sure how small I can knit on. I’m knitting DH’s sweater on 9 US. I HOPE I can at least knit with 5’s. Think that would work for socks with Worsted?

I told DH he’d have to finish my socks. They’re pink stripes, so I don’t know how thrilled he’d be, but he just started a hat, so who knows?

Julie, I feel your pain! Men can be so clueless when it comes to supervising kids. I’m smelling yarn $$ as pennance!:roflhard:

Jenny, what book is it? Maybe one of us has it and can help you out…

Knittin’ on…

oooooooo GJ I like your thinking! Look out lys- here I come…

nice job on the sweater Dotty- I left you comments on your flickr photos…

Hey, Jackie Lim, my girl ! Where are you? :muah:
I got your beautiful Christmas card just before New Years ! I wish Zoe had still been here to see the Strawberry Shortcake sticker on the envelope. She would have flipped ! Thank you and your little one for THAT !

Lady Violet: GOOD CHOICE! That is on my wishlist too! Glad I helped make you a Groupie
Dotty: EXCELLENT sweater! I am ready to start a Central Park Hoodie for my mom.
Julie: Ack…men stink sometimes don’t they? My DH is the same way, he is always so lax when it comes to our son, it makes me crazy!
anyway…I have some finished socks!

Ooh, Christina, those are purty!:cheering:

Ooh, Tina, those socks look so yummy ! I saw them earlier in my contact’s photos on Flickr and drooled ! Great job !

I’m knitting on mynightie, and it’s so nice to get back to the cotton/tencel, after knitting with the acrylic…smoooooooooooth !
I have a feeling the yarn should be finer and the nightie ‘lighter’ than this is coming out, but it’s fun knitting, and I can always frog and use it for something else, so AWAY I KNIT !

Whoa ! A lot can happen in a month ! I just visited KnitPicks to see if it was true that they no longer include the zip-binder with the metal options set (IT IS TRUE !) and I stumbled across the fact thatthey now carry the fixed circular sock needles, sizes 0 through 3 in 40 inch and 47 inch ! They listened to me !:clink:

I noticed that too… I want a 0 and a 1, but I’m conflicted… the longer cable would be nice, but I like the wooden so much better than the metal.

QOTD: Current sock: Winter Sock from the Magic Loop booklet.
Favorite Toe-up: don’t know, never did one, nothing special in mind
Favorite top-down: I don’t know about favorite, but I’m doing these Earl Greys next.

QOTD:

I’m working on a pair of toe-up socks at the moment. No pattern, just basic socks. My favorite toe-up pattern is something in my head. I love the easy toe form sensational knitted socks, so I knit that. I love the heel that is used in coupling from knitty, so that heel will be knitted.

Good Morning Socksters!! :blooby:

Christina those are soo pretty!! You did a wonderful job on them  …lmk how you like the mystery sock and can I still join? lol if you like it then I might… I don’t like mystery anything the surprises :teehee:

dotty~that is going to be lovely!! I love the color of the green… :woot: yay for KP!!

Gina~ I need your dh to talk to my dh…oh the knitting I could get done if he could help me :teehee:

I have a size 0 for magic looping now… I can’t use a wooden size 0 will snap that thing every time… even my 0 dpns by kp are bent to pieces :teehee: …I have to watch the 1s too… I have snapped a few of them…

I worked a bit on my three way wrap last night… it’s a very boring knit… St st for 52" :wall: … I need to keep it here by the computer and just watch KH’s knit spy and knit :teehee:

I want to CO for a pair of gloves today using the sock yarn I won from Julie and some other that I hand dyed… I Hope the two colors work and not :zombie: but first we have running around to do this morning… we need a car battery…

I hope you all have a great day of knitting :blooby:

Hello! I’ve been very busy knitting :x: away, and here’s the promised picture of my first one and a half socks. I should have the second one done sometime tomorrow, if I can get all my chores done first.

Gina, so sorry to hear about your hands. About needle sizes: My socks are worsted weight, as I thought that would be best to learn on, and I used size 7’s.

GJ - It’s this one http://www.interweave.com/knit/books/favorite_socks/

Dotty that looks beautiful!!

I’ve put the socks down for the moment. I fell in absolute love with the Bliss Blanket on the new edition of Magknits and I had to get started on that right away. I couldn’t believe that entrelac was this easy. I’ve been dying to try it since I first saw a sweater made out of it years ago.

I don’t have that book, or I’d scan the one you’re using and send it on. Maybe someone else here has it?
