Any Sock KAL

Morning Socksters,

Hope everyone is having a Happy New Year. Welcome to all the new members. As you have already noticed this is a great group!!!:grphug: Even though I haven’t completed a sock lately, I still enjoy staying in touch with my sock friends.

Today is my son’s 14th Birthday. He had an All Night New Year’s Eve Birthday Party…and I do mean ALL night so I didn’t move much yesterday.

Last night I did finish knitting my DD scarf to match the Topi hat. I just need to weave in the ends and block it.

I joined the Sock a Month KAL (SAM5) and Monthly Dishcloth KAL. I haven’t started on either yet cuz I wanted to finish the scarf.

Dotty it is so GREAT to see you back.:woot:

Sock on,
Carla

No photos yet (maybe tonight… we’ll see…) … but I successfully completed the heel flap, turned it, picked up the instep stitches, and decreased one round. :woohoo: At this point it was 12:30AM Friday night, and I decided to go to bed while I was ahead, before I started making silly mistakes due to being tired. I haven’t done any more since, but I’m definitely past the confusing part and on to (what looks like) the relatively easy process of finishing up the foot.

My mom was very impressed!

Julie~ I made the fetchings last year but my mom took them when I visited her over Christmas…so I never got to try them… I have used other fingerless gloves and I find they work inside the house like typing or knitting…but I need a bit more for outside… I really like theseand wear them a lot…you could prolly do the fetching pattern and then figure out the fingers from that pattern… and then I also like convertible mittens…

dotty~I bet when you start a pair it will come back to ya…although sometimes I pick up my needles and can’t remeber how to knit :teehee:

Carla~ Happy Birthday to your dd!! I joined the Sockamania and finished up the Dec. pattern… I’m trying to wait paitently for the Jan. pattern :happydance:

SteveDallas~ That’s great :woot: …can’t wait to see the pictures!!

Have you guys seen thispattern? I’m thinking of ordering it and starting it… :teehee:

Dotty: I think you’re stressed & thats why you cannot remember socks-enjoy your nighty. Hi Mike! keep up the hard/good work!

Dustina those look pretty-but I was looking for a pattern that takes heavier weight yarn for a fast knit.

Good morning all, bet it going to be another wonderful day !!

No sock knitting for me yet. Still working on those preemie hats.

Hi Socksters! Well, it’s official: I can’t knit socks on small needles. I tried a round last night with my new splints, and ended up in PAIN, so I couldn’t knit ANYTHING the whole evening!

So I’m thinking of ordering Filatura Di Crosa Primo from Webs– on sale for $2.49 a ball. What do you think? Would it work for thick socks? It’s washable 100% wool. Would that be too itchy?

Tina, i finally decided on what to get with the wonderful gift certificate you sent me. i just ordered this. the more i looked at it, the more i fell in love with the colors. i can’t wait to see it irl. is it here yet?? :teehee:

thanks again! :muah:
(you’ve created yet another loopy groupie! :happydance:)

GJ, that sounds awfull, no knitting of socks. As for the yarn, I’m not familiar with wool, so I can’t give you any advice.

I’ve got some better news. The yarn I thought was lost in the mail finally arrived. It’s even better than I expected, really soft and great colors. I started 2 socks toe-up on 1 circ for my mom. Hope to be finished soon, but knowing me, that could take a few months.

:blooby: Good Morning Socksters!!

Gina~I’m sorry to read about your hands…I haven’t tried the yarn before but that’s a great price just to try it out :happydance:

Lady Violet~ soooo pretty…I like to go to the loopy ewe and drool :teehee:

Lieke~ :happydance: YAY! on the new yarn!! I can’t wait to see photos of how it knits up…

I worked on Mom’s sock last night and now my socks I did 5 snowflakes… so I figured that would be good for mom too since her foot is a bit smaller than mine… for some reason the sock is smaller than mine so I need to do the 6th snowflake  …I was so looking forward to starting the toe…

Today is suppose to be 2wk shopping day but I’m dreading going out with both kids in the snow… I might wait till tomorrow and leave them with dh :teehee:

I hope you all have a great day of knitting :blooby:

Oh, Gina, that’s so disappointing ! But, you know, this week with the brutal cold around here, I just keep reaching for thick wool socks to wear in my boots…I love them ! They were too itchy when I made them last summer, and I thought they were a complete loss, but now they’re great ! You just can’t judge some wool in the heat of summer ! What is the smallest size needles you can work with now?

I made Bubby another sweater over the last two days, as he was wearing the other one over the holidays. But this one’s neckline came out smaller…not sure why? But I’m going to look online today to see what it would be like to try and install a zipper. If I can’t wrap my head around that, I may be reknitting the neck. I wish I could share the pattern, as it’s so quick and easy, but it was given to me by a friend on Etsy, who has a book of ‘top-down’ sweaters in every size.

2wk shopping day? explain please.

warning…rant…
Yesterday I left the big kids (3.5 yrs & 21 mo.) with dh so I could go to the post office (it was his day off) When I left the 3 yo was in bed trying to nap and the 21mo was in her bed dozing off. Dh was outside changing the lug nuts on his car. When I came home 45 min later (yes it took that long at the PO) he was finishing washing his car, I expected both kids were asleep-nope! they were dumping cereal all over the living room carpet! I went out and told dh that he’s gonna have to vacuum when he’s done b/c he wasnt supervising the kids and now there’s rice krispies all over the floor! I was peeved. Then I came back in the house and found that the 21 mo had climbed ontop of the cpu desk and taken our Olan Mills 8x10 family portrait (that just came in the mail yesterday) and tore a couple spots on it and bent it pretty good in a couple areas-wonderful. Back out the the garage to tell dh that he was irresposible and he should have been watching the kids-for crying out loud they’re little. He knew I was pissed and walked on eggshells for a while last night. I hate that. Anyone else experienced this with their dh? I told him last night that he’s luck all they did was tear/bend the photo and dump cereal-they could have easily gotten into knives, or chemicals (both child locked-but they’re smart) or they could have run with something in their mouths or anything. Hell I could be planning a funeral or two now. It just scared the living daylights out of me. I’m still mad(guess that’s the Irish in me)

I’m with YOU, Julie !
We can just IMAGINE all the things that COULD have happened ! ! ! ! !:hair:

Oh Julie, I’m right there with you. My DS got into the nail polish remover when he was about a year and a half while I was in the shower and his father was playing a video game…not watching the baby. I was livid.

I’m such an idiot! The socks I started (which are lovely by the way) may not be able to be continued for awhile. I got the pattern from a book I got from the library, but neglected to scan or photocopy it, when I KNEW I was going to have to return the book. Silly me, I thought I could just renew the book and all would be well.

Unfortunately, someone put a hold on the book because they wanted it, so it meant I couldn’t renew it. Now I have to wait at least 3 weeks to get it again. I think it will be longer, because the lady said I was 2 of 2 in line for the book. So a minimum of 6 weeks, provided each person returns the book on time. I guess the “good news” is that the part I’m on is a pattern repeat. The pattern is 4 rounds and they want you to do 20 repeats of it. I’ve got 18 repeats to go. It’s only a 6 stitch pattern (repeating throughout the row), so I think I can handle it. But still. I should have known better.
