Hi everyone, Happy St. Patrick’s Day! Once again I can’t possibly catch up with everyone, so I hope a big HUG will do for now. Someday I’ll have time to post a whole post again!
I have to run to the railroad commission this morning and will probably end up spending most of my day there… I’m hoping to get a call from someone there before I head over there so I’ll have some idea what the heck I’m supposed to be doing…
I got the 2nd repeat done on my simply cables socks last night, and since I prefer ankle socks, I think I’ll go ahead and start the heel next time I get time to knit. Tonight I’m going to find some good Irish music around town and take the kids out for pub grub and good live Irish music!
Thanks Lisa and dustinac, the socks are ummm coming along! The fine baby yarn splits so I have to go a bit slowly and more cautiously than I would normally knit. I think they look too small but have been assured that they are not going to be by someone who is used to knitting socks on fingering weight yarn. I will keep going and when one is finished the woman can try them on. If it does not fit her I will frog it and make them bigger.
Dustina~DD went back to school yesterday. She said it was a nice week off but was looking forward to getting back to her friends. She did secure a job for the summer when she gets home in May. :woohoo: It’s at an engineering firm near by. She lucked out because most places won’t hire first year interns.
Julie~ Great looking swing set!! Have the kids asked to go out and play this morning?
Carey~Have fun tonight out with your girls. I love irish music and food!
Julie. . The kids are going to IT. I brought the suggestion up to my family and in-laws. We got “I will let you know”. I take that as not something they want to do. Bummer. WE will have to get something for the little ones though.
Gina… good luck! Lets hope St. pat is with you today bringing you lots of luck and good answers.
I did get quit a bit of knitting done yesterday. I finished the gusset on the simple cable sock and only 1 more in to knit on tempting II. We all just kinda vegged in front of the tv and watched movies. Well back to knitting and cleaning today. Have a great day all
I think I’m going to get the chance to teach my MIL the ML technique. Ever since I moved up here, she’s picked up her interest in knitting and I couldn’t be happier. I really want to be friends with her, considering we sort of share her son (he’s more mine now of course :p). She gave me the most beautiful baby blanket that she knit yesterday. Done in cottontots by Bernat, it’s so soft and the colurs are so pretty. I can’t wait to wrap Emily in it.
I don’t think it’s going to be much longer now. I was having so many contractions last night. I want to say they were the real ones too, because they hurt and they behaved like real contractions as far as where they started and where they moved to. But they were too erratic. They jumped around from every 3 minutes to every 6 minutes, then finally tapered off to 2-3 an hour. They’ve picked up a little this morning though. I really don’t want her to come today. I can’t explain it, I had the same issue with DD. I didn’t want her born on St. Paddy’s day either.
As for knitting, I’m almost done with the gusset on my jaywalker. It’s to the point where I don’t need the pattern right now. I’m down to I think 8 more gusset rows…since it calls for a remainder of 32 stitches on needles 1 and 4 (total together) and I’m at 36 I think. I can’t wait to finish these socks. Even if they don’t fit my mom…I’ll find someone they will fit!
O how exciting Jenny! My cousin had her 1st girl on St Patty’s day…I think it would be a great day for a bday-I was hoping Bailey would hold off till then, but she came on the 12th.
Good morning, just had a very quick scan through, too much to really catch up on.
Gina I hope you have some success at the doctors today
I did manage to get some more knitting done yesterday and I watched most of Knitting Essentials 1 & 2 by Lucy Neatby. I got them from the library. Lots of interesting tips. Here are my latest socks so far
Alle… I think the little people know when we dont want them to come. :teehee: My oldest was born on my brothers bday which happens to be halloween. I really feel all kids need their own day but they always have other plans. A St. patty’s day baby would be loads of fun. You would grow to love this day and the decor in the house for this holiday will be all green. The kids IMHO love the decorations like this for their bdays.
Sue… I totally those socks. What color/brand yarn is that?
Sue~Beautiful socks! I also love the blanket that is under them!
My friend’s son was born today…he turned 10. We were laughing at his party yesterday about how much fun he’ll have when he turns 21 with a St. Patty’s B-day (or while celebrating it when he’s in college). He just looked at us like "What??? :?? "
nice socks Sue!
Lisa, thats what I was thinking :teehehe:
what’d you think of your tv while youwatched the drag racing yesterday? What brand do you have?
Julie~We caught the finals when we got home from the b-day party. (Good thing our friends are drag racers too, they had the races on during the party, lol) It was like watching it in 3-D and the colors were great. We bought a Sony Bravia.
Christine~ :cheering: for yarn! Post some pics when you can!
It is my birthday today (43) and I quite like that everybody remembers because its St. Patrick’s Day. Also here in the UK Mothers day is in March so I did have one year when I celebrated St Patrick’s day Mothers day and my birthday all in on go.
I used to live in the US for about 3 years 24 years ago and there people really went mad celebrating painting everything, green, food beer etc. Probably more so than here in the UK.
Here is a picture of some of the yarn my DH got me, he got me a selection as he did not know what I would like or how much you actually need to knit something. I got 2 balls of Louisa Harding Impression Pink/purple colour way
2 balls of Louisa Harding Impression Black/grey/silver colour way
2 balls of Sirdar Juniper Green/Blue/Purple colour way
4 hanks of Mirasol Miski blue with little dark pink/purple very soft
As soon as I have found a pattern for a sweater that i like he will buy the rest of the Mirasol for it.
Jenny I hope you have a quick and pain free labour, or at least have access to an epidural.
My first sock is still on the needle have finished row 27 on the lower leg, haven’t been knitting on it for the last couple of days did a couple of rows today and feel quite keen to get going on it again. here’s a picture of it so far.
I also got a couple of books, one by the Yarn Harlot which I quite look forward to reading.
Kids are playing quietly on the PS3 so think I will work on my sock some more.
:clink:HAPPY BIRTHDAY KARINA!!! :balloons: :present:
What a sweet hubby! Yea for kids playing that PS3, quick go knit!!!
My bday is the day after tax day…
Here`s a picture of my new sock yarns. The top one is the Schoeller & Stahl Sockina Cotton, the bottom one is Schoeller Esslinger Fortissiuia Cotton. The little balls on the sides are samples for me to try. The tan coloured one is Lana Grossa Elastico; the light blue and multi coloured yarns are Flotte Socke Baumwolle.
These are all wonderful and so soft. The red and white yarn is a lovely thin sock for spring & summer, the Sockina is a bit thicker but still will be good for spring and summer. There is enough of both of the skeins of yarn to make a 7 inch legged pair of socks.
I am so thrilled! Thanks once again Lieke for participating in this mini swap with me!
Okay, so here’s what the PA said:
It looks like osteoarthritis in my fingers, but my thumbs, she wasn’t sure, and so took three vials of blood to do some serious tests to look for inflammation and antibodies. They also had me go for x-rays of my hands.
Bottom line:There’s no way to stop the progress of OA. :wall: She said she’s almost rather diagnose RA because there’s treatment for that! They’re going to try me on Celebrex to see if that takes care of the inflammation, but the nodes on my fingers are not going to go away. She said the pain should abate somewhat once the nodes get really hard. She also said that splinting the joints will probably postpone the formation of painful nodes in the joints and so wrote a prescription to get some silver ring splints for my fingers as well. Using the joints less will also postpone the OA in joints. I didn’t even ask if that meant I shouldn’t knit! I’ll just get more splints!
Thank you all for your prayers!
