Any Sock KAL 2

This is my 9,000 post if I knew how to do a screen shot I would I’ll learn before my 10,000…:teehee:

Gina~I think so if you do a swatch figure out how many sts per inch then you will know how many to CO for the size you want :yay:…I’m sorry you had to frog so much of Amused

Lady Vi~Can’t wait to see it :happydance:

Dustina, you can hit alt-print screen and then open a word doc (or probably paint or other program) and ctrl-c to paste the screen shot into the new doc. Happy 9,000!

Lady V, WTG! Can’t wait to see the FO!

Dustina, WOW! That’s a lot of posts!

Karina, I haven’t heard from you in awhile! Did you survive the slumber party or are you still recovering?

Good Evening All, just a quick look in.

Dustina: Disappointing to hear that about the Amish around you, but I will still read the books.

Julie: I hope your Grandmother is feeling better. Don’t get upset by your mother not wanting the grandchildren to visit. Chris is right in what he said, and as an older person myself I can totally understand.

Christine: Hope your daughter is doing okay. Have fun with dgd but glad you still get to go away and relax for a few days.

I want to wish everyone a Happy Easter and lots of good egg hunting for the children.

Dustina, hit shift+print screen and then go to paint (or something) and do crtl+v. (but maybe in the US it works different, since carey posted different instructions)

QOTD: My mom is turning 51 on easter-sunday, so we’ll go and eat there. We’ll have an easter-brunch. In the evening, I’ll just go and play D&D as on a normal sunday, so I’ll probably be making something easy (like every week) so I don’t have to spend to long in the kitchen and don’t hold up the game.

Well, my masterpaper is done (again) and now my tutor has a week off, so I guess that means I’ll have a week off as well. Well, I think I need is. Wednesday was great, my neck finally stopped hurting. I’m less tired now than I’ve been for weeks, so I think I really needed a break. And of course, when you’ve been busy and take a break, you’ll get sick. I’ve got a sore throat. Hopefully it won’t get worse. Gonna drink lots of tea with honey. I really want to keep my voice and I don’t want to get sick before easter. (wouldn’t be the first time)

I also pulled myself together and worked on the sleeves of Montera. Yay for thick yarn, I’m flying trough it. If I keep this speed, I might be able to finish it in the next few weeks. (but I guess I’ll slow down when I have to start on the belt, that’s k1p1 and I HATE that)

:sun: Good Morning Socksters (we need a april showers smilie)

Thank you Lieke and Carey :yay:

Sue~Yeah I keep reading them too and think maybe the ones in PA are like the books :teehee:

Lieke~My b-day is on Sunday too tell your mom I said Happy Birthday :yay:. You do need the break, take sometime for yourself…YAY on the knitting going fast!

Hi everyone!!

I’m hoping to get a lot done today…I did go to knitting last night for the block and got a good start on it.

I hope you all have a great day of knitting :sun:

Hello sole-mates

Since I haven’t read the book I have no comparison, but, the plain people (Amish, Mennonites, etc) are on the whole a very nice group of people. What I do notice is that many of the “Amish” stores do not seem to be run by real Amish and that can give the wrong impression.

Just as you shouldn’t judge a book by it’s cover, do judge any group by those that are easiest to identify.

Exactly…I’m glad to hear that they are different in that area. You are right you really have to watch the shops, esp if it’s in a tourist attraction area. I know of some back shops now that we get pies/eggs/etc from and you don’t pay the “amish” price…

We have some that come to town in their buggys which I like to see, some that ride in a van that has a hired driver, but then some who say they are ‘amish’ but drive a car…most around here do shop at wal-mart for almost everything…then most head over to McD’s or Burger King for lunch…I have been pushed out of the way without an excuse me many times (and they can speak English although to one another they speak dutch/german)…one time I was knelt down looking at meds on the lower section and a hip knocked me out of the way, when I looked up an Amish women just glared at me and started going through the meds :teehee:…I’ve also had amish men think it’s ok to get in line in front of me instead of behind of me…

The younger ones seem to be more sociable, if I say excuse me (like I do to anyone when I go around them or need to go around them) they will smile and nod back at me…also another thing is around here they are known for puppy mills, which they do see animal life different than we do…

Most of the time if someone is doing work on their house they will hire the Amish, you can’t beat their work

Just being in this area for 8 yrs has changed a lot on how I see the ones here…not a judgement, just an opinion on my personal experience…

Well yesterday was Brian’s day off and so I got to leave the kids with him and go see Grandma, boy did she look terrible. We (Mom & I) got a ton of stuff put back together in her house; remember her piping broke back in Feb and she’s since had to have the house repiped and new floors, drywall, paint etc. So the house and all her knick knacks were all in boxes and dirty etc. so we cleaned them and did our best at putting them back up. She’s very weak but said she’s getting better each day; she was only staying up for 1 hour at a time then was back in bed. NOT LIKE HER! She never lays down during the day, she’s always on the move, going going going like the Energizer bunny. Pretty darn good for 79.

Lieke wish your Mama a happy bday on Sunday.

Dustina happy early bday!

I forget you 2share a bday with Jacob, must be a great day to be born.

No knitting news, or refi news yet-they said that it would take about 6 weeks to get it done. We have to go to Wally world today & get dishwasher soap (been out for 4 days) and kitty litter & Jacob has to pick out his bday cakes that he wants, or brownies. We’re also thinking of getting a climping post or something that we can have Lucky play on and bat things around. He’s bored; keeps knocking all the papers off the computer desk. Anyone have any ideas? Also just curious what you kitty mama’s (Dad’s) use for kitty litter? I’ve been using Tidy cats and it seems to work pretty good, but was just curious if you’ve found something that is better?

Get Lucky a playmate, there are plenty at the animal shelter. :roflhard: We have tended to have two cats at a time and they play with each other. When one is bored they go pick on the other one until it is run a chase time. But why at 2 in the morning?

We use Tidy Cat and an other that is wheat based.

:passedout: going shopping today was NOT a good idea. It seemed like mostly it was husbands doing the shopping…I had one stop me to ask if I thought his 2yr old would like lollipops in his Easter basket…another asked where is the cool whip? Another where is the already made mashed potatoes that you just heat up in microwave

Julie~We use Tidy cat, if I switch and try a different brand they won’t use the litter box…they go beside it so I just stick with what they know…Gideon and Bella now play together but they also enjoy little toy mice and Bella likes the jingle balls…she has a climbing post but it’s not used much. Roo will get a long robe belt and run through the house and that will wear the cats out after a bit, they chase after the belt…prayers that your grandma will feel better soon, thank you for b-day wishes…Tell Jacob I said Happy Birthday :woot:

Ok I started this awhile ago and got distracted by kids and cleaning :teehee:

I wants me a shelter cat. cloud9 . Except I’m allergic so I can’t have one. Anybody know where I can get a hypoallergenic cat? (I don’t know anybody with any of the ones that are possibly reduced allergen, so I can’t realistically investigate this theory)
I’ve noticed recently that greenhouses always, always have cats, and used bookstores always, always have dogs.

dustina - men shopping for Easter stuff, that’s funny.

No such thing. The allergen is in the saliva not the hair, so even a hairless cat, won’t work.

You could knit yourself a cat.

Chris a second cat :thud: Dh would have a cow! Lucky has the personality of a dog, very easy going but can run through the house like a labrador!
I stuck with Tidy cats, my aunt said that’s her fav. & she’s used it for many years & has tried all the brands said it’s the best.

Dustina I’m with you on the shopping part, though we got to walmart at 9:30 so it wasn’t so bad, but glad I did my easter shopping last week, what a crazy mess those areas were!

OK gotta get my homework done while the munchkins are down for a nap considering my kitchen is back to normal clean now!!! Thank God for dishwashers! I still wash somethings by hand, but man for a busy mama dishwashers are supurb

Chris I suppose even hairless dogs would still have dander huh? Katie’s allergic to doggies dander, has been since she was 4 months or so; we had her blood tested & if she’s around them or snuggles with someone who’d previously snuggled a dog she gets a terrible red rough eczema type rash on her skin where she was exposed to the dog.
Anyone seen the movie, “Marley & Me”? Fantastic, but if you’re a dog lover you’ll need kleenex! And to be able to love on your canine friend.

Sue, happy Easter to you, too! Are you having an Easter-egg hunt for the grandkids?

Lieke, I’m glad you’re feeling better! Rest is good for more than just the soul!

Dustina, the Amish around you seem downright rude! Appalling! I went shopping today too, with DD. Stores were really busy! We stayed out of WM, though!

Julie, I’m glad you got to see your G-ma! It must be hard to see her like that. As for the cat, try putting a paper-weight on the paper! I’m with you on loving dishwashers! Esp now that the kids are in college–a lot more goes in there since they’re not here to help with dishes!

Jess, I’m allergic to cats, too. Also dogs. Not fun!

I had a nice surprise today. Y’all know the yarn I got for my Amused? I wanted to check if the balls I got from the lady on Ravelry were the same as the ones from the store, so I got out my scale and weighed them. Only one of the ones from the store was the listed 50g, so I dropped a note to the company and let them know. They offered to send me a couple of balls to make up for it and were just as pleasant as can be. In the mail today, I got 8 balls of yarn!!!:thud:The dye lot is not the same, but the colors looks the same on the ball, so we’ll see how well it matches. Nice of them, huh?

Check out this site about Hypoallergenic Dogs I don’t how accurate but you can look.

Gina, wow! That’s great that the company mailed you so much yarn!

Gina that’s awesome! What company?

Chris thanks.

:roflhard: :roflhard: :roflhard:

Chris, you always crack me up!
