Any Sock KAL 2

Jess, thank you so much for your understanding response to my rant about work. I almost cried when I read what you wrote. It’s SO GOOD to know that you UNDERSTAND! My boss knits, but she’s not a knitter. Know what I mean? I didn’t even see her today, but of course, I was awake half the night thinking of what to say to her to try to make things better. Your dad sounds like the ULTIMATE backseat driver! Glad you had fun with your friend!

Ann, CONGRATULATIONS ON PASSING YOUR DRIVING TEST!!!:cheering::woot::cheering: That’s awesome! I totally agree with you, too! I knit when it is appropriate, not when it’s not! Lucy look adorable in her Pi bed!

Dustina, thanks! I would like a more exact recipe, though, if you have time–or even a link to one… The pattern is BEAUTIFUL! Although, I really think you should CO a SWEATER!

Carey, that’s exactly what it was–she took her sour grapes out and I got the sour whine! I’d love to meet up with you at that lovely yarn store sometime… I hate having my eyes dilated, too.

Lieke, thanks! I’ll try to sleep better tonight. I did okay last night until 4 and then I couldn’t turn my mind off.

Sue, thanks! Hope your snow melts soon!

Julie, your grandma is in my prayers! I hope she’s okay and that it was just something minor. Workers like that are usually too scared of getting sent back home to do something really awful!

Carla, LOL! I don’t have computer access at work , or I would probably be on here with you guys!

Thank you ALL for your understanding. KNITTERS UNITE against my boss! Thanks, too for the book recommendations. I listen to books in the car all the time and am always looking for good titles/authors. I just read “The Beekeeper’s Apprentice.” GREAT book!

Christine, what are you reading? I know if you’re not knitting, you’re probably reading! Hope you’re feeling okay!

Hi to the rest of you! I’m SO glad you’re ALL my friends!

Carey: I have also been recommended Amish novels by Jerry S. Eicher.

Well here it is. Thank you guys for listening to me when I finally post comments and for letting me keep up on your posts (in the background).
You helped me to keep going at this knit thing. I love it.
:knitting:

Mare, your sweater looks GREAT!!! WTG!!:cheering::woot::cheering: It looks TONS better than my first sweater!

Don’t die of shock :thud: , but I’m knitting a sock I’m actually going to finish!!! As soon as I post this I’m going to start the heel flap. And did I mention that I only started it yesterday at midnight? So technically I’ve had less than 48 hours to work on it, minus all the time I’ve spent helping dad collect money for the fundraiser at his school. I’m using Sunshine YarnsMerino Sport in Buckbeak. I can’t say enough about this yarn. OH. MY. GOODNESS. cloud9

So here’s a couple pictures. (You know you want them, and I want to go knit my heel flap! :teehee: )

I just love the little bronzy bits. I’m using the Sell Your Sole Sockspattern.

Now I’ve finally discovered why you ladies like doing socks on magic loop so much. The last sock I started was on dpns. I tried to try it on, but there was no way those needles were going over my heel. Ah, the bliss of magic looping! I wanted to check the leg length, and it slipped right over my foot and my ankle. My nickle tips aren’t a problem, either, surprisingly. I used magic loop for my Fetchings (which I tried on as I went), so I’m not sure why it didn’t occur to me that I could do the same thing with socks. I guess my feet are too far from my brain. :roflhard:

Marilynn, great sweater.

Lady Vi, I love the sock you’re knitting. It’s a nice yarn.

I knitted a bit on my brocade leaves cardigan again. The sleeves now come over my elbow (bottom up), so I think I’m about half done with them. I don’t need to increase a lot anymore, the sleeves start rather small on the wrist and stay small for a while (not to small) and now they’re starting to get quite wide, so I’ll stop increasing every 4th row and I think I’ll go to every 10th row. I’m knitting them both at the same time, in the round, so I can try them on and adjust the pattern as I go.

Today is another warm and sunny day here. My tutor forgot to send me her notes on my masterpaper:doh: so I can’t do anything today. She won’t work until tomorrow, so I’ve got a day off and I intend to enjoy it. Maybe I’ll take a walk and take some knitting with me to knit on a bench in the sun. I really need some relaxation, my neck is still hurting.

:blooby:Good Morning Socksters!!

Mare~It looks wonderful, great job! :woot:

LadyVi~what is this s word you speak of? :teehee: The socks look great :happydance:

Gina~ I should cast on to a sweater…but I keep getting sidetracked. I hope you can talk to your boss and get her to understand

Sue~I always found the Amish fascinating as well, till I moved here where they are almost everywhere, and almost nothing like I thought :teehee:

Chris~How are they in PA?

Lieke~I hope your neck feels better and hope you had a great day of relaxing

Carey~That’s awesome they let you try out the yarn first, I can’t wait to see it! :happydance:

Julie~I hope your grandmother is feeling better today

Christine~How are you feeling?

Hi everyone!

I heard back from the person who knit the blanket on ravelry and she said we could use her charts . I’m thinking of posting a KAL for it :teehee:

Last night I went to knit night and worked on a sock that I had in a bag since last summer :teehee:…didn’t get much knitting done but had a good time.

The knittingzone is going to stop carrying yarn and right now all yarn/books/pattern/etc are on sale at good prices. The site is running slow though, oh Koigu sock yarn is not on sale yet and I don’t think the downloadable patterns are 'cause I think they will continue to carry them …I wanted to get some Baby Alpaca Lace, it’s so soft and great to work with :happydance:

I hope you all have a wonderful day of knitting :blooby:

Hello all,

Well I have a day off today. I’m on-call at work, but we have been so slow lately that my manager said I won’t get called in Crossed Fingers

Lieke- Enjoy your day off- you deserve it, as does your neck.

Lady Violet- Great socks. I just recently learned Magic Loop, so I’ll have to try it for socks.

Mare- Great Sweater  It looks like it really fits you well.

Julie- I’m praying and sending good thoughts to your grandma. She doesn’t have Alzheimer’s or anything, does she?

Carey- Sounds like you have an amazing LYS! Very jealous!

Sue- I have only read the first Blossom Street book, but I loved it. I have had some trouble finding A Good Yarn to read next, but I already have the 3rd one. Is the one coming out at the end of the month another Blossom Street book?

Gina- It definitely sounds like your boss isn’t a true knitter. If she was she would understand that you can knit while doing something else AND that you are probably just knitting while on break etc.

Dustina- What are you going to cast on? We should start a sock KAL…wait…we already have one! I’ll have to check out that site for some deals!

I started a sort of memorial shawl/prayer shawl in memory of my mom. It’s the Forest Canopy Shawl and it’s a very easy lace pattern. I am using Malabrigo Silky Merino, which was a gift given to me when my mom died and it is just gorgeous to knit with.

Here are a few pictures of my progress…

Morning all! Just a quickie post for me to check in with you all.

Ann~That shawl is very pretty! Love the color of the yarn Hope you don’t get called in to work and can knit on it today. Congrats on passing your driving test!!

Marilyn~The sweater looks great and fits you well! Congrats on getting it finished!! What sweater are you going to do next??

I’ll try to get back later for more personals. Work is crazy this week. I did start this wrap on Saturday and have about 4 inches done. It’s a very easy pattern, only 4 rows to repeat.
Hope you all have a great day! Hopefully check back in tonight!

Ann~That is so pretty, and I love the color! :inlove:…I need to cast on today for the 3rd block in the GAAA for tomorrow night…but I should also really cast on for dad’s sweater too

Lisa~I made that shawl for a friend at Christmas…I also entered it in the fair, great pattern and very fast! I had trouble parting with it :teehee: same as Cozy from knitty, it’s on my I’ll knit it again for me some day.

Good morning, everyone!

Julie, thanks for the bonnets! How is your grandma this morning?

Carla, do we get to see the dishcloths? It’s nice to see you around!

Dustina, glad you had fun at knit night. YAY for sharing the charts! I can’t cast that on right now, too many things on my list, but I LOVE it and really want to do it at some point.

Gina, let me know when you’re coming, I’ll meet you at the LYS!

Marilynn, your sweater looks great! I cast on my first sweater over a year ago and still haven’t even finished the first panel…

Lady Vi, wow, a sock? What an unusual thing to knit on the sock KAL! It looks great, and that yarn is gorgeous! Next you’ll be doing 2 at a time on ML!

Lieke, enjoy your day off!

Ann, the shawl is gorgeous! Enjoy your day off, too.

Lisa, can’t wait to see pics of your wrap!

Here’s what I have so far on the hanky… terrible picture, but here it is. I’m about 1/3 of the way done, I think.

OK, just got called by my boss, better get to work. :stuck_out_tongue:

Hello Sole-mates

Mare - Your sweater looks wonderful, great job! A few more Hoe and I want to do a sweater

Lady Vi - Be very careful coming over to the dark side of socks. You can’t knit just one, or even just one pair. You start out top down, then its I’ll just try one toe up and then your hooked and you have to try cables, lace, and even the dreaded knee high. Run get out now before it is to late.

ha ha he he ha ha he he ha ha that’s a nice jacket why are the sleeves so long and why are there buckles at the end of the sleeves?

Ann, that shawl looks gorgeous. I totally love the color!

Well, so far for going for a walk in the sun, it started to rain shortly after I made my post. Instead of walking and knitting, I played LotRo with DBF, which was also great, since we didn’t have time to play together for the last few weeks. After that, I did some ironing (has to be done) and grocery-shopping (which isn’t to bad, we got to go together and that’s not nearly as bad as shopping alone). Now, I’m going to pull myself together and try to knit a bit on Montera. Since I’ve started the sleeves, I’ve hardly knit on it. I just get bored to easily on stockinette. I actually also have to clean my house, but I think that can wait untill another day. I don’t feel like it now and I feel like I deserved my me-time so I’ll just look the other way when I see some dust :teehee:

Well, I’m off to put some podcasts on my MP3-player and then I’m going to knit:knitting:

Mare: The sweater looks great.

Ann: The shawl looks lovely, what a beautiful colour. Yes the new book is Summer on Blossom Street On Sale April 28
“Knitting and life. They’re both about beginnings—and endings. That’s why it makes sense for Lydia Goetz, owner of A Good Yarn on Seattle’s Blossom Street, to offer a class called Knit to Quit. It’s for people who want to quit something—or someone!—and start a new phase of their lives”.

Dustina: Are you telling me that the Amish are not all they are meant to be? We have more Mennonites in Ontario. I love to visit that area (not too far from Ann) and the real Mennonite stores are very interesting to me. I am soon going to start book 4 of J.Oke’s Canadian West series.

Carey: The hanky looks pretty.

Lady Violet: Great looking yarn.

Gina: Hope you are having a good day today.

Lieke: Is the neck better today?

Mare the sweater looks great!

Lady Vi, ML rocks! glad to see you making such quick progress on socks.

Lieke hope you’re able to get close to finishing your sleeves today; good luck on the final draft of your master paper.

Ann glad to see you post so much  That is going to be super pretty! What a great idea to remember your Mama by.

Lisa that pattern is now in my favs on ravelry; looks super easy.

Dustina I wish we had knit night every other Tuesday, but we just have it the 2nd & 4th Tues. of the month; I’d love to have it every week; o well. I think sometimes knitting is a secondary reason for those nights :teehee:

Thanks for all the prayers & thoughts about Grandma. I’d have updated y’all earlier but we were having troubles with our modem. Anyway she doesn’t have any broken bones or fractures. She does have a large hemotoma between her eyebrow & hairline on her left side (all on left side). The doc said it looked like blunt faced head trauma to him, not like a door jam. She’s joking bout how tht damn floor needs to stay down where her feet are and not come up and smack her in the face. :roflhard: glad she still sees humor in it. She does have a concussion & we were told to watch her closely for the next week or so. Of course with the 3 little ones I have I’ve been told to stay away beacuse they ‘stress her out’ and so I’m not to go help take care of her, which pisses me off to no end. And not only that but my sis stayed the night with her las night & then left this am at 8 to go to a doc appt and then to go home to study-why can’t she take her books to Grandma’s house and watch over her? :gah: And then my brother (with no transportation) is to go help her this afternoon; we’ll see if that happens. Mom told me last night she wasn’t working a full day today because the doc wasn’t in all day today, but she told Gma this am that she’d be working till 4or 5 tonight. That’s a full day. I could just scream! :hair:
Then on top of that I didn’t sleep worth crap last night & my eyes are super tired as is the rest of my body, I’m looking forward to nap time today; better be better than yesterday b/c yesterday the kids didn’t sleep (Katie did) but the other two waited till I was asleep & then they played, they both woke me up saying Bailey had swallowed a penny. :thud: Great so now the doc instructed me to be on the look out for her to ‘pass’ it, and to call her if it isn’t passed in the next 2 stools, then if not shed give her some Rx that would help her pass it, if that didn’t work in 2 stools then we’d do X-rays. somebody shoot me.

Ann you’d asked if Grandma was a healthy person, she is. No alzheimers or anything like that. Just that brat Arthur Itis comes to visit her quite often.

I still have homework to do today & try to exchange a bra at Victoria’s Secret that I got home and realized the clasp part isn’t sewn in, on both sides, so the eyelet part that the hhook goes into wont hold the hook. Can’t find the darn receipt so I called them last night & thy said that it depends on the manager as to if they’ll let me exchange/return it. I said I just want an even exchange-why couldn’t they do that and send it back as faulty? Anyway I’m notlooking forward to dealing with them today-not in the mood to fight. So I’ll load up all 3 kids in a while & go do it, with 3 kids (6 hands touching everything) they should do their best to get me out of the store quickly. :teehee:

And then I really want to knit more on my socks, they’re so pretty. I’ll try to take a pic for y’all today too.
sorry for the rant, but y’all are family & Dh is at work so I can’t rant to him now. Thanks for listening.

Strange I used to have the same problem back in my misspent youth. Bar room floors kept jumping up and hitting me in the face.:passedout:

I had to start wearing hat when I when out, because, once the floor attacked me I would forget which end was suppose to get up first. When I wore a hat I knew the end with the hat was to leave the floor first.

 Dotty!

Dotty, great to see you.

Julie, no way I’ll finish my sleeves today. I’ve hardly knitted on it the last few weeks. Didn’t feel like it. But I did knit on them today.
