Any Sock KAL 2

Ann Christine is right again!:hug::muah::hug:

Lieke if your neck is hurting make sure your monitor is high enough that you look straight at it, not downward. Take a kitchen timer with you and set it for 15-20 minutes. Each time it goes off get out of your chair stretch your neck and arms.

Julie - I have met a number of straight “A” people I wouldn’t trust to dig a hole to plant a tree, much less give me medicine. Too many of them “know” but do not understand what is going on. Those things that you must know to do your job you will learn and remember. By the way I hurt and have a temperature or is it I hurt because by bourbon is warm, I forget.

Oh Ann, my heart just dropped when I read your post.

I am truly sorry for your loss…words just can’t describe it.

Thanks so much for letting us know.

Thanks for the advice. In that case I really need to work at university. My monitor is to low and right now, I don’t have anything to put under it. The monitors at university are ajustable in height.

Ann, Christine said it perfectly…your family is in my thoughts and prayers.

Julie~I agree with Chris…you are doing great!

Lieke~I hope your neck feels better soon!

Carey~That looks wonderful!!

I made a thumbless mitten pictures to come…I was so into designing my own mitten that I forgot to put the thumb in…till it was done and then I went to try it on :wall:…it’s ok though cause I was doing it all in different colors and wasn’t really loving it so I’ll just do it again with 2 colors and a thumb :oo:

In the US our phone book do wonders and if that doesn’t work pizza and donut boxes. I have only heard about the donut boxes, I would nver go out and order 4 dozen donuts just to put under my computer monitor.

Law books work really well, too.

But if the pizza boxes are lifting your monitor, obviously your phone book worked.:teehee:
Is it Easter yet? I seem to remember in high school having many referrences to “The Wall” which is the point in second semester when all desire to continue with education stops at the same moment that all teachers and professors start handing out more and more projects/exams. I haven’t had this problem in college, until now. Yesterday was the very first moment that my group for my Evo test (the prof sends home tests that we can do individually or in groups of up to 3), and the first question took us FOUR HOURS. None of us could remember anything about doing statistics and because we all have taken stats class, the prof didn’t go over it in class. My group of three people had to call in two other people from our class, and students from a previous year, to help figure it out. And I’m still pretty sure we did it wrong. We started work at noon and it was six p.m. And I have four or five similar projects, all group work, going at the moment too.
So, I make sure that whenever I start to get stressed by this, I quit homeworking and do something fun… because I certainly have enough fun things to work on at the moment! I’m still not sure about the yarn for my knotty or knice socks, but that’s life, eh?

Ann, you are in the front of my thoughts today and every time I think of you, I pray for you and your family. May this week be a time of remembering the good, fun and joyful times you had with your mom.

Carey, cute hat!

Lieke, have you tried an ice pack on your neck? Sometimes that helps more than heat. A ream of paper also works to lift your monitor.

Dustina, could you do an “Afterthought Thumb” like EZ says to do afterthought pockets and heels?

Jess, good luck on the pile of work! Ugh! Don’t stop now, though! Only what, 6 weeks left? You can do it! Finish well!

I’ve been working on MIL’s sweater and have about half the sleeves done. I got to wear my Hey Teach today!

Hi to the rest of you. Back to work now…

Hey all, I just wanted to ask you all to add one more group of people to your prayers. I just got an email that one of the students at my school died today. I didn’t know him at all (as far as I know), but his family and friends can always use some extra prayers.
I don’t know any details about what happened, but they emailed us over the weekend to let us know that they were having a couple of masses and prayer vigils for him because he was very sick. An additional email notes that the illness was brief. His name was Derrek, and he was a junior.

And while I’m at it - requesting prayers, I mean - one of my dad’s cousins died last week of unknown causes. She and dad were close in age and apparently good friends at one point but had lost touch over the years (that portion of the family lives in California, so I’ve only met her once), but her family too (especially her mother) could benefit from some extra prayers.

Emily, you got it; extra prayers all around :clink:

Emily~Prayers for them all

Gina I thought about that… actually that is what I was going to do but I put the scrap yarn in wrong (not paying attention)…so now I’m thinking I would have to cut it and I’m not really sure what to cut :teehee:

I posted pictures up on my blog if ya’ll would like to see although Roo likes them and wants them…I asked her if she need thumbs and she said nahhh she could make it work

Jess, prayers for all!

Dustina, give the afterthought thumb a try! What have you got to lose?

Ann- Just returned home tonight from vacation and read about your mom. Please know that you and your family will be in my thoughts. May you find comfort in the love and memories of your mom.

morning,

Ann - nice to hear from you  please take good care of yourself.

Dustina - give the afterthough thumb a try, who know u might become a knitting guru :teehee: :yay:

Gina - using either a 24" or a 32" to knit in rounds using a Magic Loop method, just like a sock, will it has hole at the joining part as this time is of bigger circumference (the top down sweater). Can i use dpns ?

hmm, than I have to clear out the mess around it first

hmm, maybe I can put my DSM-IV under it (big psycholgy book)

Hmm, I can try the frozen peas in my freezer, want to use them tomorrow anyway. Altough I’m afraid I’ll do more harm that good. The muscle is just totally stiff, so I need to move more. But I can’t because that hurts to much (the usual problem). I called my GP this morning (after hardly sleeping last night) and he gave me pain killers. I think that should do the trick (it always helps).

Emily, they are in my thoughts.

I had to frog the right front of montera yesterday, but it’s already reknitted. I just had a meeting with my tutor and I’ve got a lot of work to do at my masterpaper. I’m going to try to finish it by the end of next week. I really want to be graduated before the 1st of may.

:sun: Good Morning Socksters!

Lisa~Welcome back from vacation, I hope you had fun! :yay:

Lieke~I hope it feels better for you soon

Jackie~is it to hot to knit? :happydance:

Ann~Sending you hugs today and prayers

I looked around a bit this morning but can’t find info on how to cut the thumb .

I was just doing the afterthought from memory was to big in a hurry to check and see if I put the yarn in the right place…then afterwards I realized that I did EZ’s after thought wrong…When you get to the part where the thumb should be you would pick up scrap yarn and knit it in so that when you take that out after the mitten is done…you have live sts to pick up and a gap for the thumb…I closed up any gaps and left no live sts…if it was just one color it would be easy to prolly cut through but being stranded…eek on having to figure out what can be cut and what couldn’t… I’m going to ask in the how to and see if anyone knows where I should cut :teehee:

JD is home sick today…I gotta go find my house esp the laundry :oo:…

It’s suppose to be warmer today so hoping this afternoon I can get outside some…

I hope you all have a great day of knitting :sun:

ETA: Ok so looking on ravelry there seems to be confusion on afterthought thumb…some say you cut…some say thumb trick is what I was doing above with scrap yarn…which is why I’ve been confused on this but…I went back to google but still can’t find what to cut with stranding lol…so I asked in the How to and on the ravelry thread…

Emily, your requests are in my prayers!

Ann, you and your family are in my prayers. Take care, sweetie.

Lieke, your DSM-IV would be perfect, unless you’re going to need it. Frozen peas on your neck will reduce inflammation in the muscle, which should help with healing.

Dustina, good luck with the mittens!

Jackie, I used Magic Loop to do a skirt for Abby and it worked just fine, no gaps.

I knitted a few rows on the drop-stitch scarf last night, but I’m so bored with it that I didn’t get very far. Tonight I’m going walking with my neighbor, so probably won’t get any knitting done. I sure do need the exercise, though.

Julie: Don’t fret over your marks. You will do well.

Gina: Glad the camping trip was a success.

Lieke: Take care of your neck. Hope you are feeling better today.

Carey: The hat looks great. Love the colours. How was that yarn to work with?

Dustina: Too bad about the thumbless mitten. Glad Roo likes it.

Emily: Thoughts going out to your friends.

Lisa: Welcome back. Hope you had a great vacation.

Ann: Thinking of you.

I am still working on my last dolls outfit. I am sewing up now, so I am almost there. Have a good knitting day everyone.

It just hit me on where to cut…the scrap yarn would have taking out a row so remove a section of v’s all together for thumb…then I would be left with the row above that and below it of live sts…I think I need to go back to bed
