Any Sock KAL 2

Hi everyone,

Sorry for not being around…at all. Sue e-mailed me and brought me back to reality!
I’ve been working a lot and job searching. There’s really not much out there, but when there is, I am all over it.

Carey- Sounds like a looonnnggg day. You’ll be happy to get home at the end of it I bet.

Dustina- Don’t you hate it when those needles break? Thanks for thinking of me

Christine- Glad to hear you’re excited about your trip in April. You’ll have so much fun.

Lisa- Have fun in Florida! I went to Disney again a few years ago and had just as much fun as when I was 10. Just goes to show you never really do grow up. Oh- and your older DD is the same age as me!

Lieke- Sorry about the job. I’m right there with you.

Sile- Nice socks! Are they for charity?

This weekend Josh and I are going to the International Baseball Classic and staying at the hotel attached to the Rogers Center/ Skydome for 2 nights. Friday night is our romantic evening and Saturday is the games. Then Sunday we’ll have a leisurely morning and go home.

I have also been knitting quite a bit. I finished Josh’s socks a while back, but never posted a picture. It’s me modelling them, so they’re a little big!
I have also started my first toe-up socks. It’s also my first chart that I haven’t translated first and my first short row heel. It’s the pattern Twinkle Toesand it’s going quite well. I finished the first sock already and I am almost at the heel of the second sock. The pictures don’t show the pattern that well, but it’s quite pretty.

Christine, it sounds like things are going better between you and DD, is that right? If so, how wonderful! Sorry about DGS- those viruses are a pain since there really isn’t anything you can do about them. Hopefully some tylenol or ibuprofen will make him a little more comfortable and help him feel like drinking something.

Ann, it’s great to see you! Sounds like life is keeping you pretty busy these days, we understand that. Can’t wait to see pics of your twinkle toes, that’s a lovely pattern.

Ann: Nice to see you again. Those socks are really nice. It looks like the same yarn I am using on DH`s socks. I hope you job search goes better and you find the perfect job for you.

Carey: Things are much better between DD and myself. I am so grateful that she has matured and is willing to be friends. I really missed her. She is back to her old self again and even calls me when she feels sick, to ask advice on what to do. We got a webcam so that we can talk that way and it doesn`t cost long distance fees. She will be having an operation in April and I will be taking care of my DGD, so we thought this would help make my DD feel better about the time spent away from her child. She seems very grateful for that. She talks to me each day for a while. I am so happy to have her back in my life! Hopefully my DGS will get better soon and my DD can start preparing herself for her surgery. They are going to try a partial, but depending on what happens when they open her up, they might have to do a full hysterectomy. If she has the partial, we will have my DGD for two or three weeks, if she has a full, we will have my DGD for six or eight weeks. It will all depend on how things go. Thanks for caring!

Christine, I’m sorry about your DD’s surgery, but I am so happy to read that you two are getting along so well now! I can’t imagine how hard it must have been when you weren’t, but I know your heart must be overflowing now.

That reminds me, I didn’t say what yarn I am using!

Josh’s socks are Lana Grossa Meilenweit. It’s wool, so most likely not what you’re using Christine, but I find there are a lot of similar sock yarns.

The Twinkle Toes are made in Louet Gems Sport Weight in Goldilocks. I thought it looked so springy and pretty that it would warm me up.

Carey: Thanks, yes I am overjoyed. Now if only I could find a way to keep the babies healthy I`d be thrilled!

Ann: No that probably isnt what I am using then. I pretty sure this is the Bernat Sox that Sue picked up for me before Christmas, but I cant find the ball band, and its been so long since I knit on them that I cant even find the directions I printed out. Your Twinkle Toes are coming along really well, they are beautiful socks. They do remind a person of Spring with that beautiful soft sunny colour. Nice to hear from you!

I have DD on MSN right now and she says DGS has a fever of just under 103 today. She is on the phone to the doctor right now.

Lisa, great to see you around again. Your trip sounds great.

Ann, I like your FO, but I LOVE your WIP

The knitting on my cardi felt a bit strange by the way. I’m knitting it with fingering weight yarn, so that’s rather thin and it always felt really thin, especially since Cascade fixations is sport-weight and I use that mostly for my socks. Lately however, I’ve been knitting mainly with lace weight, so when I started on my cardi again yesterday, the yarn felt really thick. To bad the needles are still small.

Well, I’m gone, :knitting: knitting on Laminaria. It’s taking ages now to finish a row. But I will get it done, before I cast on for montera. I received the needles today, so now does the hard part start (keeping myself from casting on with that beautiful yarn that’s so soft and nice and thick and which knits up so much faster than the lace and fingering weights I’m using now)

Christine, is it the blue variegated yarn? I sent you some last fall as an early Christmas present. Maybe that’s what you were thinking of?

What I’m to pick up the girls, I’m late I need to order the jet now, will my pilot be available, if we cut across the Pentagon will we be shot out of sky before we get clear. Hurry, hurry my work is never done. :waah:

OH dear, please don’t get shot out of the sky! I don’t mind being late for dinner…

Hi guys, just been really busy…obviously, I had 4 pages to read through before I got here.
LOVE the socks y’all!

CHristine your CPH & Boot’s crate cover look great!

got lots to do before tomorrow-about 5 or so loads of laundry to fold; then tomorrow I take Bailey for her 3 year pics (she turns 3 on the 12th) and then we’re repainting the house, except for the bedrooms & tiling the computer room (which is supposed to be the dining room, but we have our table in the kitchen dining area, which is supposed to be a family room - that’d never work) anyway we’ll be busy while Dh is off next week so we’re supposed to get it all together tomorrow so we can go to town next week. makes me tired thinking about it.
ok no knitting news yet. . .
kids seem to be better (finally) Katie needed 2 rounds of Rx.
talk to yall later.

morning,
thanks ladies for telling me what is the end cap and cable needle for…will be using my Harmony to knit something soon…

Ann - Nice seeing you again, Welcome back:hug: I like Goldlilock, very nice yellow

Chris - Oh please have mercy…dont shot him…we need him here… We love :guyknitting: and his jokes :roflhard:

Ann: I found the ball band, amazingly enough it was tucked into a corner of the knitting bag I have the socks in, but I did not find it until after I posted. This yarn is Moda Dea Sassy Stripes, the colour is Swish and it was sent to me by Carey to replace the yarn we used to make Gina’s socks. The yarn you sent me for an early Christmas gift is still on hold in my stash cabinet awaiting a pair of socks for ME! Thanks again! I look forward to one day actually being able to knit with it instead of just fondling it now and then. Good luck with the job hunting!

Chris: Don’t you dare go and get shot at! We need you here.

Lieke: Good luck with the job hunting! I agree about the volunteer work, perhaps that would get you the “experience” you need.

One of my Blanket KAL members has a friend who’s 3 year old boy is in Sick Kids Hospital with Leukemia. She has requested a certain one of our blankets be sent to him. The blanket is finished and is going to be posted to me today by sueincanada who finished the last two strips for me and has it now, and then I will attempt to crochet a border on it. Thankfully crocheting goes fast so I am hoping to be able to do the crochet and then get it delivered to him next week.

The car mechanic called me again. It seems that when DH hit the one pot hole he bent the axel on the right front wheel side of the car. That is going to be another $100+ to fix. The good news is that once this work is all finished the car should run like the wind.

I witnessed an car accident last summer and I have to go to court for that on Tuesday. The one driver is being charged with careless driving. I am the “guest” of the Crown so I will be a witness for the side of the person that was hit, not the one that is being charged. I was smart enough to come home from witnessing the accident and type up exactly what I saw. I will print that document out today so that I can refresh my memory before I go into court. I am nervous about this going to court stuff but it has to be done.

Now for the big news, I am half way finished the heel flap on DH’s sock. I am hoping to have the heel done by Tuesday so that I can take my knitting with me to court. This way I only have to knit the foot so I won’t need to take a pattern with me. Mindless knitting is good while waiting in court. They can’t complain about me bringing my knitting into the court room either because I am using my Harmony dpn’s and they are wood.

DGS is still quite ill. Yesterday evening when DD took him to the doctor, for the second day in a row, his temperature was 105.4. The stupid doctor sent him home that way. All he did was give him an antibiotic. He did no tests to see what is actually going on. We are all furious about this and DD was quite angry with the doctor and told him so. We are afraid DGS is going to go into fever induced seizures, and we all think he should have been hospitalized. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr, why do doctors think they are God???

It is supposed to be +5C today and +12C tomorrow. I may get Boots out and walking if it gets that warm. I have my track suit all ready to go! I do want to finish the heel on this sock today or tomorrow while DH is at work.

Hi :waving: everyone! Have a great day.

:sun: Good Morning Socksters!!

Carey~I hope you find your knitting mojo soon…yeah this was mom’s needle though she had bought it to make the hat but then let me use it since I was making the hat for her…so I’m not sure who they will send it to :teehee:

Christine~I hope your DGS feels better soon …I’m sorry to read that your dd is having surgery, but I think it’s great that you two have a wonderful relationship

Ann~:hug:so good to ‘hear’ from you, wow you have been busy and the socks look wonderful! Sounds like a wonderful weekend for you guys :happydance:

Jackie~:happydance: can’t wait to see what you work on with the Harmonys

Lieke~I can’t wait to see it, I would prolly have already casted on to the new project which is why I can’t get anything off the needles

Julie~Ya’ll have been busy, I’m glad the kids are feeling better

Chris~did you make in time? :teehee:

Hi everyone!!

Last night the kids had church for their program and today we have dance class. I’m working on JD’s sock trying to free that needle up so I can put it back on the GAAA 'cause I can’t find my other 7 tip, and I don’t want to order one 'cause I know I have it around here somewhere

Then I gotta figure out what my colorwork project will be for this month’s KAL. Then I need to start my dad’s sweater so I can send him at least the sleeve for his birthday :oo:

I hope you all have a wonderful day of knitting :sun: -it’s suppose to be warm here again YAY!

Christine~YAY on the sock!! Don’t be nervous on Tuesday you will do fine …I’m sorry to read that your DGS is still not feeling well I would have thought they would have kept him to with a fever that high. I know they told me that they didn’t consider a child’s fever high till it reached 104 when I called about Roo. They also told me not to wrap her up tight which I always did, always heard that helped break the fever they told me it really just helps to trap the fever. I hope you he feels better soon and will keep him in my prayers!

Christine, I hope DGS’s fever breaks soon!! As for court- just remember to only answer the question that is asked. If they ask, “Do you know the time?” You say, “yes.” I was deposed once after witnessing a car accident, but they waited THREE YEARS to depose me… mostly I said, “I don’t remember.” Luckily I didn’t have to go to court for that.

Everyone else, HI! Sorry I can’t do more personals today. I think I might be coming down with whatever the kids had. I feel terrible. I’m at work, though… no fever yet, so we’ll see what happens. I don’t have time to get sick today.

Shot down in flames - No that was by the girl I met at the bar last night.

I don’t have time to read everything right now but I finally took some pics of the dolls clothes. I am working on a couple more things and I hope to try to sew a couple of things too.

Sundress, jacket and underwear. I think the sundress may be too short, then she can wear it with the mauve pants.

I am making a white/mauve top to go with these pants

Poncho and hat

Dungarees. I don’t know why one leg looks shorter, but they are really the same

Oh my goodness, those are ADORABLE!! Great job, Sue!
