I have a problem. The bamboo lace sweater I’m making is just a smidge tight through the middle. The bottom is fine, it’s from the waist up to the bust that it’s a bit tight.
As I see it I have four options:[ol]
[li]Finish it, wear it tight and suck it in.[/li][li]Finish it and give it to DD who is a smaller size than I.[/li][li]Frog it back to the bottom and re-knit a bigger size.[/li][*]Lose 10 pounds.[/ol]So give me your feedback, friends! What should I do? Right now, I’m so disgusted that I’m working on my cardigan!
LOL, I think I won’t be able to teach him how to knit. He thinks it’s great that I knit, but doesn’t have the patience to knit himself. I send him to bed a few minutes ago, fortunately he listens to that.
Gina, I’d frog the sweater back if I were you. You won’t wear it if it doesn’t fit properly. You can also give it to DD if she wants it and you don’t mind. That’ll avoid the frogging, but you won’t have something nice to wear yourself.
Wow! I’ve been gone from here for waayy too long!
Lieke- My boyfriend plays WOW ALL. THE. TIME. I can always tell when he’s playing while talking to me on the phone. There are those long pauses after I say something and then he just replies with, “yeah…well, that’s cool.”
To everyone who asked, my sister’s dog is doing very well, thanks for asking! She got surgery on Friday to put a titanium plate in her leg, because it’s just too little for a cast, and she’s already able to put a little weight on it when she walks and stand on it a little.
I still haven’t dyed the yarn for my socks yet…I should really get on that! Maybe I’ll do it today…
But I did manage to get a cute tunic type shirt thing started on Tuesday, and I’m almost halfway through the back! It’s knit from side to side with random knit and purl stripes, and it’s looking really cute! I’ll have to get a picture when it’s done, right now it really doesn’t look like much.
Bobbi glad all is well.
Lieke I agree with Chris, it’s better to be down a few more days now than weeks later.
Gina that sucks. OK I think it will take longer to loose the 10 lbs than to
and knit it again. If you give it to DD she probably wont appreciate it as much as you, so I hate to say it, but frog it and then put it away, finish your cardigan and then start it again. That’s what I would do. O and (from my experience) women who have had children have a tummy bump, unless you’ve only had 1 and, well I’m not stepping on that soap box, it’s better to knit a bit bigger size to hide the bump.
Gina - if you totally love it I think it is worth doing again. if not leave it alone for a little while and then decide, also make sure your daughter would love it a lot before giving it away it is to much work if she is like take it or leave it.
Bobbi glad the dog is getting better. Hows your job still love working with the little terrors.
Morning,
Gina - i would say to
(sorry)
Karina- I’m still absolutely loving my job! In fact, I’m looking in to working at a daycare when I get back to school. I got an email about a daycare up there that is willing to work around class schedules, so I’m pretty excited!
That’s rare, congratulations.
Not much going on here other than I just booked our first family vacation! Another step in adulthood - boy that just feels wierd to go somewhere without my parents or in-laws. Previously we’d gone on trips with my in-laws (not a bunch of fun). Anyway we’re going to Carlsbad Caverns& then to White Sands on the way back home.
Thanks for all your input on the sweater. Here’s a picture of DD in it. It does look GREAT on her and she loves it. I think I’ll just set it aside for awhile. I actually contacted someone on Ravelry who has the same yarn in a lovely blue…I could make another one for me… I think I’ll see what she wants for the yarn.
I got the body of my cardigan done. It’s drying from blocking. I CO for the first sleeve. It seems a bit big, so I might frog and start with one less repeat.
Julie, we’ve been to Carlsbad. Really cool! Literally! Bring a sweater! We planned on going to White Sands, but it was really windy, so we didn’t go. Apparently, it’s horrible there in bad winds.
Bobbi, it’s great to hear your job is going so well.
Lieke, we’re still keeping DBF in our
.
Gina - your sweater is beautiful. I see peoples projects on here and Ravelry and a lot of people mention a pattern a day calender or stitch a day. I have never seen one is there a lot of different versions published.
Bobbi that is so great that you love your job, hope you get another once you go back to school.
Julie - White sands is it dessert or beach? never heard of it. when are you going.
I am getting quite excited about the Mystery Stole 4. still waiting for my beads to arrive from the US. Had some in my stash and have had a little play just to get the hang of getting the beads on the yarn as you knit. Is anybody else here joining.
:sun: Good Morning Socksters!!
We are home and had a wonderful time. :woot:
I just skimmed very fast :teehee: so if I missed something let me know.
Gina~:inlove: Very pretty!! I love that color
Julie~The trip sounds like a great time :happydance: , Great clogs!
Bobbi~That’s great that you love it so much :yay:
Lieke~My dh is WoW player too…
Carey~I hope you are having a great trip! ![]()
Karina~The CPH is very pretty…I did last year’s Mystery Shawl and it’s still un-finished
Hi everyone!! I hope you are all doing good :happydance:
I have some pictures to post later on today but first I have to find my house :oo: …the time I was gone for 2wks it looked better than this :teehee: …we dyed some yarn, I finally finished my bird in hand mittens, started the smackdown socks, got a mitten done for the olympics (just gotta finish the pair), started mom on her Christmas gifts, tried to start the pig socks, and finished a test knit for a book next year, annnnd I think that’s it
We have also been watching the olympics (I love the olympics) and was up LATE last night watching them but at least I got to see the swimming race and USA winning :woot:
Ok off to clean and hope you guys have a great day of knitting :sun:
Gina I love the look of that top, it’s adorable! What a lot of work.
Thanks for the tip Gina I remember going when I was 10 & I wanna say we went the first part of Sept last time, it was 80-90 outside the cave & mid 50s in the cave, yes we wore jackets & I have jackets on my list to pack, thanks. As far as wind at white sands, yeah I bet that would be icky. When we were there occasionally we’d get a little gust and you could see little dust storms here and there, little white tornado looking things-but to see so much white & have it be hot (like the desert is) was wierd. Guess when there’s that much white everywhere you just expect it to be cold and snow.
Karina White sands is a desert, just full of white gypsum sand. Dh has never been but I was there when I was 10.
We’ll leave the 9th of Sept & come back the 11th. Just a short trip b/c Jacob will be in school & will miss one day (no school on Wed.) & I have to be back for class on Sat. so it’s just a short trip which is prolly good b/c Caitlin is only gonna be 9 months old & the hotel is $90 a night and that’s the cheapest available-believe me I checked, anyway it will be fun!
Dustina!!! Glad you back and had a good time, my you were busy, did your needles catch on fire? jk.
OMG how awesome was that relay final last night??? My brother’s a swimmer (ok he would correct me, he is now a tri-athlete, but I’ve only been to one triathlon and I went to several swim meets) which gives my family something to compare times and races back to, and we all love watching a fast swim race!
How much would it suck though to beat the world record and still get 4th or 5th!? 5 out of the 8 teams beat the previous world record.
I was knitting when we started watching the Olympics, but put my sock down to watch that race. I’m glad I did. :woohoo: :cheering: :yay: Go USA!
Karina I’ve looked at the mystery stole 4 and joined but I may not get to it just yet. Is that aweful?! I’d love to do it but feel I don’t have the right yarn as my laceweight is varigated blues, so we’ll see.
Karina here is a link to the 365 knitting stitches I kept meaning to post it and forgot, so since I thought of it just now, there ya go! Wish I’d only paid $13 for mine, I paid full price $20 at my lys a few years ago.
OK this is for Karina & those of you who enjoy photos of mountains. I didn’t have time yesterday to go to my ‘spot’ to take this pic, so it’s from my driveway…

That is why the mountains are called Sandia, it means watermelon in Spanish & when the sun hits 'em just right, like here, they are as red as a watermelon.
Julie- That sounds so fun! Clayton and I have been trying to plan a trip together, but it just never seems to work out with both our work and school schedules.
Dustina, WELCOME BACK!!! We missed you! Did you have a good time? Sounds like you got TONS of knitting done!:woohoo:
Julie, you have a LOVELY view! I’m jealous! When I was growing up, I could see Mt. Rainier out my bedroom window. Here, the highest mountains we have are overpasses.:roflhard:
I haven’t done ANY knitting today. I have study skills classes starting this week, so I’ve been working on coordinating those. I also went with DD to get the windows tinted on the Corolla we bought from FIL. It’s just too hot down here not to have tinted windows.
Now to watch the Olympics and KNIT!
OMG dies
SO pretty… pets the mountains
Hi everyone.
I finally got home last night. I haven’t had a chance to read everything , but had to share pics with you. 3 days before I came home, these appeared on the property backing on to where I was staying.
