Ruthie~:woot: Welcome to the KAL!! My little girl’s name is Ruth aka Ruthie 'cause she doesn’t understand why I’d name her Ruth for…and Roo is my nickname for her (she will only let me call her Roo bug) :teehee:
Chris~ I hope your back feels better soon…I messed mine up yesterday it doesn’t hurt much today but it’s still really tight…so I’m not going to cut grass in fear I’ll go through what I did 2 summers ago that was some PAIN
Ann~ You are all in my prayers!! Keep us updated!
Gina~aww the office work will still be there tomorrow :teehee:
Julie~:woot: YAY for a KP order! those will be cute…I should make my kid’s some…I have so much wool I could really use it up  …I think double stranded would work (for some reason I’m thinking that’s what I did on my kid’s first pair)it would make it a thicker material when felted? I think…:oo:
That’s the thing I’m not really sure what color I want…maybe a purple color… I don’t know that I could pull off red (depends on the shade)…I’m thinking thispattern
OK so I took my Silly Socks to the LYS today and asked them could we do this please? Like a party everyone buys some Encore DK and we knit the socks up…and they said YES…the kept my socks…not sure if I’m in charge or not…they are going to check with the regular knitting instructor…and then get back to me :yay:
QOTD: KNIT ick on the crabs : )
ok off to do some laundry now…and then maybe knit some later
Dustina the pattern calls for the yarn to be held double throughout-I was just thinking of maybe holding both colors together instead of doing one color for the top and one color for the sole. I the sweater pattern you’re thinking of!
I think purple would be easy to do with your yarn, you gonna try kool-aid? You can also use Wiltons cake icing dye, though I don’t like it as much as kool-aid. I know Michaels sells some jaquard dyes, it’s in with their tye-dye stuff.
Ann~ to you and DBF’s uncle! I’ll keep you all in my thoughts. How is your GM doing? Okay I hope.
Dustina~I changed the colors of my granny square like you did. Your’s look great. I was thinking a dark maroon for the sweater yarn color.
Julie~:happydance: for the KP order. I’ve been wanting to try the FT slippers for a while. I have an “energy saver” type washing machines (it agitates slow), so the last time I tried to felt something, it took FOREVER!:tap:
Welcome Ruthie! Show us your sock!
Chris’ QOTD: This is a hard one  . I love them both. Mmmmmm…garlic butter…I’ve never tried them with that, just plain butter.
Oh Karina! I forgot to say I think your CPH is looking great! I really had to study the picture to find the mistake. I don’t think anyone will notice it because the cable is so intricate. You’re doing great on it!
Thanks Lisa. Could not keep my hands off it and am now on the second repeat. ripped out 3.5 repeats so will soon be back to where I was.
I have stopped looking at the chart and just copying the pattern of the back and if the cable was under last time then it has to go over this time and so on. works out quicker.
Julie~ I think that would work too…and be neat when you felted it :yay:
Lisa~That would be pretty
hrmmm do you guys think it would be bad to use caron for the sweater? I couldn’t block the cables then though …caron puts out a really pretty burgundy that I tend to grab a lot :teehee:
Julie did you then rewrite the pattern longhand instead of using the chart. I like this chart I think the colour coding works really well. I just don’t need it anymore because of all the extra repeats I have done with the few mistakes I have made.
Dustina are you thinking of doing the CPH with the Caron simply soft or are you talking about another pattern? I can’t see a problem with using Caron for anything as long as you get the gauge approx right.
I am not to specific as long as it lands in the ball park I fine with that. it is supposed to be I think 17 st per 4 inches I have 16. I am sure it will be fine.
When I get home from work, I get a cup of coffee and sit down to check this thread, you guys are always so busy and have such interesting things going on. I enjoy reading it and learning.
Still going on my 2nd pair of socks, and finishing my way too big sweater so I can alter it when I is finished (that makes no sense to me). The bad news is I signed up for another class to knit a lacey cardigan called Sonora http://nashuaknits.com/pdf/SonoraCardPatt.pdf
I hope it fits when I am done. From what I can tell, if I am a 38" bust I should knit the size 40, since a 36 would be too small. Wish me luck. I will use a camel shade of yarn.
All your projects look great, you keep my interest up.
QOTD My DH is one year older than me, we are both scropios and that means we blend together, and it is working for us! Been together 22 yrs, married 16 yrs.
It is rainy and muggy here today. The farmers love this kind of weather.
I am still waiting on my KP order, why does it take so long!!!
Have a great evening.
Marilynn
I’m not using LisaKay’s chart I’m using the one from a pattern book that’s MIA, and it has the written instructions on it-thank God! or I’d be SOL.
Dustina I’ve used Caron ss for baby blankets and I don’t like the way it washes up, maybe that’s because they get tossed in the dryer? but If I were you I’d do a swatch with that cable, found one very similar if not the same here, and wash/dry it and see what you think.
Did you ever hear from Dotty? I haven’t sent her a note yet, been busy.
Marilynn yes there’s always lots going on in here too.
:woot: I’m done with the fronts on my CPH, only took 1.5 hours today to finish 'em & here they are blocking on a lawn chair, yup found another use for it, now what am I going to use to sit on to knit outside? :?? o well, not to worry it’s 90 out there anyway so I’ll stay inside :teehee:
now onto the sleeves…I did the fronts 2 at a time think I’ll just do the sleeves one at a time so I don’t get confused since I’m using the Celtic Cable on those too.
o Katie’s awake, better go get her.:out:
I dont think that’s bad news, that cardigan is BEAUTIFUL, thanks for the temptation I think it will fit you just right. When I’m not nursing I measure a 36" so that’s what I’m making the CPH, and it’s gonna be snug for a few more months. I agree though the 36 would be too small, unless you didn’t plan on ever buttoning it.
No No not Alaskan crab legs but Maryland blue crabs, food of the gods.
Think jumbo lump crab cakes on the hoof. Steam the crabs in beer and Old Bay Seasoning. Crack open the shell and dig out the meat. Where the back legs enter the shell is the lump meat. This is sweet and fantastic. Dip in some drawn butter, but normally this lump meat doesn’t need it. I then pick the rest of the meat place it in the butter and eat it after the crab is picked clean.
Comparing Maryland Blue Crabs to Alaskan Crab legs is like comparing hot dogs to steaks. They are both good, but. There are times in which you just need a hot dog, but given a choice I go for the steak every time.
For those who have never had blue crabs think of the best Alaskan crab legs you have ever had and double its goodness- this is blue crabs.
Marilynn those are four good looking models, excuse me four good looking cardigans. Just remember that you are not knitting a cardigan you are practicing you stitches for future socks.
Dustina, I LOVE that pattern! Do you think it would be possible to use that cable pattern on the CPH? I thought you had some wool you were going to overdye for it. I’d use that over Caron. The time you take to knit a sweater is worth good yarn! Doesn’t have to be expensive, but I don’t think the Caron would do the cables justice. I made a baby cable sweater with it and it wouldn’t block well. Didn’t look bad, just not quite perfect!
Chris, I LOVE crab! I just wish it wasn’t so much work to eat! You’re making me hungry!
Mare, your pattern is pretty, too! The size you make depends on if it says “Finished measurement” or “Made for size 36.” It helps to find your gauge and then do the math. How many stitches is it and how many stitches do you have per inch? Multiply it out and you SHOULD have your finished measurement. Be sure to account for any overlap for seams.
Julie, you’re CPH is WONDERFUL! Your speed amazes me! I haven’t even finished swatching for the lace cabled tee yet!
Yes, thats why I plan an afternoon of eating crabs and drinking ice cold beer. I am trying to talk DSWMBO into a weekend trip to Annapolis Md. Across the bay bridge from Annapolis is Kent Island. There is a small hotel and about 1/2 mile away are at least two crab houses. Eat, drink and walk back to the room. (Did I mention there is also a Scottish shop in Annapolis, but I’m only going for the crabs and time with my darling bride)
Well, I’ve spent the entire evening TRYING to knit a swatch of the chart for the Lace Cable tee. I’m not being successful. I LOVE the bamboo yarn, but it’s really splitty and doesn’t like the PSSOs or SSKs. It’s super soft, but I think it needs a simpler pattern.:waah: I’m checking on Ravelry for ideas. Anyone have suggestions?
Sorry Dustina I forgot to post the linkto the cables & Gina I think you could adapt any cable you liked to the CPH, just ask I’ll do my best to help you.
Gina Dh wants the PC now, so I’ll look on ravelry for you tomorrow…how much yarn do you have?
