Any Sock KAL 2

Here is the photo’s I just uploading in the CPH KAL the first one shows the back nearly complete except for the shaping at the neck (only 6 rows to go) then a closer look so you can all the mistake I made all the way down when I started the shaping for the sleeves.

Have just finished ripping it all out. think I will walk away from it for today and start again tomorrow.

QOTD: I am 7 months older than DH, he always tells me I am a cradle snatcher.

Leike enjoy you knitting this weekend

Christine have a great time at the trailer with your DGS

Hi tippy,
You can graft the toe but you will have to mirror image for the grafting…Hereis a link with photos that might be easier to do that with. I’m searching google for photos of a left handed knitter grafting the toe

Here is a link for a sock chimney
A blog postfor mirror imaging

Karina~It looks wonderful…I can’t see any mistakes and I’m sure no one else will either…you know they are there so to you they seem to stick out…Great color!! :yay:

Dustinac - thanks. The mistake is that two of the cables that I circled are long sausage shapes, they are supposed to go under then over so they a intertwined (is that the right word?) Any way not the end of the world.

As they say one door shuts and another opens. Just had the special delivery man knock on my door carrying my order from get knitted. So I am happy as Larry again.

One skein of Tofutsies colour no 727 All pinks and purples (My favorite)

two skeins of cascade 220 one green and one blue. I bought a Fibertrends felted slipper pattern for kids ages ago (looks like little boots). My son now wants a pair of slippers so will try and make him a pair. will omit the funky fur trimming though.

The Knit Picks 8mm dpns are to make the strap for the Booga bag I am working on at the moment.

Got my smile back:)

Goodmorning all!

I went to the gym yesterday WOOT! Go me! And I’m going again to a class this afternoon. Apparently they’re very tough and I’m going to be very sore. Oh well, whatever it takes to be healthy.

Dustina- My Hederas are good. I don’t know why the pattern is confusing to me at that point. I couldn’t find anything on Ravelry about anyone else having the same problems, but oh well.

Lisa- Great work on the granny squares!

Lieke- Congrats on being finished your internship. I love knitting and watching a DVD too- so relaxing.

Karina- Your CPH is gorgeous- I love the colour! I could barely see the mistake

Gina- Green Gables looks great, I love the sleeves. Love the yarn porn too!

Julie- Your CPH looks so good! I really love the cables, they look so complicated.

Jackie- It gets very very humid here too (I’m not far from New York, we often share weather). I’m sure it’s not even close to Singapore, but it’s very hot and sticky to me! On TV Canada probably looks like it’s always snowing!

Christine- Have fun up North. I didn’t actually think the pattern was on the underside of the foot. The pattern is just quite confusing at the gussets.

Hi Carey, Sue, Bobbi, Chris, Steve, Marilyn, Tami, Carla!

QOTD: Josh and I are only 14 months apart too. I’ll be 23 in December and he’ll be 24 in the end of October.

I had the weirdest experience yesterday at a shoe store. I wanted some new work shoes, as you guys know, and so I went to a store in town that is known for good shoes. Well I tried on a couple and was deciding which two to buy and I asked if they could be returned. Well the girl that was helping me asked another girl who said “Well if they’re on sale NO” as if I was an idiot for even asking. So then she asked why size shoe I wear, and I answered 8, thinking maybe she thought of another shoe or something. Well she said "Well if you’re even thinking of returning them, then don’t buy them because we can easily sell an 8."
I couldn’t believe it! I walked out without buying anything. I was so hurt and insulted. Little did this girl know that my former boss at the shoe store I used to work at knows the owner of the store. So I’ve already sent them an e-mail.

Good grief, guess my husband really robbed the cradle?! Like I said though, it works for us-he still acts like a kid.

Karina  I’d be so frustrated, I’d probably cry & put it away for a few days-but I’m a baby like that. :woot: yay for new yarn!!! I just bought the fiber trends pattern for felted clogs for the kids & I bought the adult size Oct '06 & still haven’t made them :aww: I just ordered yarn from knitpicks yesterday (with my neighbor so we could share shipping, actually our order was way over $50, so s&h was free) - wonder how long it will be before we see our order.

GIna I love the GG, looks great! what’s your DD think? & your cardi looks fantastic, love the lace & the color is perfect!

Christine have fun!

Lieke enjoy your last day, say good bye to everyone, even those you don’t care for-it will make them smile tonight.

I have about 6" left on the fronts of my CPH & then I can do the neck decreases (sorry Karina, don’t mean to make you think about it) I did both at the same time, kinda confusing, but it worked ok-at least they both have the same ‘mistake’ or design flaw (Chris) :teehee: My sister is comming up for dinner tonight, part of her internship is in our city (we border Albuquerque, but according to my family, driving 30 min to my house is like going ‘out of town’)
OK Katie’s awake so I’ll talk to y’all later.
:waving: everyone else I didn’t say a specific hi to.

O Ann thats aweful! What a brat.

Dustina & Lisa do we get to see your granny squares?

Chris are you done with your ‘honey dos’?

I need to make our clogs…I’ve had the pattern for awhile now and did make the kids a pair…but they need a bigger pair now…

Karina~Very pretty yarn! I’ve never used/seen the Cascade before :happydance:

Julie~What all did you order from KP? Mom, Linda, and me do that but usually get free shipping too

Ann~That was weird/odd/strange/rude…I’m glad you wrote them an e-mail…I would have done the same…I thought you were suppose to help customers? :teehee:

Here are my squares

Julie - that’s right just rub it in. I am really glad it is going smoothly for you, Need to see pictures, I don’t mind the reminder.

Dustinac your squares looks great. If I though I could do one I would make some for Rabbit too. I have trouble with a simple pattern, that changing colours looks a bit complicated to me. I did send some mags and comics for the boys.

Ann - I just hate rude people in shops. Sometimes I have to take things back to a shop and the person at the till act like the money she has to return is coming out of her own pocket. If there is something wrong with the goods they should just cough up without giving you the third degree.

OK so all ya’ll knitting sweaters have gotten me to browse ravelry (although my first sweater is still on the needles from almost 3yrs ago)…but anywho I have some Patons wool in a light pink…I don’t like light pink…but it’s enough for a sweater soooo what color could I put over top of it to change the color? Of course I’ll have to wait till after my next trip to WV 'cause mom has all my dyes

Could every please send happy, healing thoughts to my boyfriend’s uncle. He is in the hospital and is in need of a heart transplant, but it’s unlikely he will get one. It is also unlikely he will be around for much longer.
Thank you.

Not quite - but I can feel a bout of lower back pain because of a ruptured disk and may have to spend the evening sitting with a cold heating pad on my back. When I do that I have to have something to do with my hands  :).

QOTD I’m am two years older than my child bride.

:woot:

I’m working on my second sock of my first pair and am tickled to find this thread!!!

My first sock is PATHETIC :teehee: but all the parts are there in mostly the places they should be - including gussets - and I’m very proud of the accomplishment! Pair #1/Sock 2 is on the needles now and I’m moving right along. I’ve turned the heel (which is SO much easier than it looks when you’re reading the books!) but I don’t like the way the gusset pick-up looks so I’ll rip back and re-do.

I’ve accepted that these are PRACTICE socks, not professional looking giftable ones, so I’m just knitting with no attention on making them perfect, just as good as I can do them at this point.

I’m doing them with magic loop on size 7 (32") cable needles. I want to try dpns and 2-at-a-time, but my order of Options needles isn’t in yet and I wanted to at least do a practice pair. I’m using Caron’s “Simply Soft” synthetic worsted weight yarn because it’s SOOOOOO soft. Knit into socks it has a GREAT “squish” factor. You could just sit and squeeze them! (Somewhat like popping bubbles in bubble wrap - addictive!) I’ve used this yarn for some very soft, squishable afgans so I thought “Why not socks?”.

When they’re finished I’ll treasure them for “sleeping socks” this winter!

There are two books I got to learn sock knitting and one for general answers that I’m finding invaluable -

They are -
“Getting Started Knitting Socks” by Ann Budd
"2-at-a-time Socks" by Melissa Morgan-Oakes
"The Knitting Answer Book" by Margaret Radcliffe

These are SUPER, and used with the videos here really help get the job done. I’m sure you’re probably all familiar with them, but if not they’re a real treat!

Well, thanks for being here and sharing your knowledge, sympathy and advice for sock knitters. I am SOOOO hooked on socks! And it’s great to know others are, too!

Ruthie:muah:

Hi Ruthie! Welcome to this KAL! We’re a chatty bunch, but any questions/comments are welcome!

Chris, hope your back is better!

Ann, hope your BF’s uncle gets his transplant. You’re all in our .
And those girls at the shop need to be working in a factory where they don’t deal with CUSTOMERS!

Karina, your CPH looks great! Sorry you had to frog!

Dustina, I’m not a color/dyeing expert. What color do you WANT? If you add blue, you’ll get purple. That’s about all I know!

I’ve been watering the yard and feel so unmotivated to do anything else. I tried swatching for my cable lace tee, but I’m having trouble with the charts. :wall: I really need to get some office work done.

I almost forgot! Did y’all see the Dear Abby post this morning? She says it’s rude to knit in meetings, etc. Here’s another forum on it.

Ruthie we have no pathetic sock on this forum! However, we do occasionally have socks with design features that were not in the original pattern. :roflhard:  Unfortunately in my case there are often so many new design features I’ve frogged so often my toes are webbed.

QOTD Having live most of my life in central Maryland and now living in PA just north of Hagerstown my question if given the choice of eating crabs and knitting which would you choose? :teehee:

I don’t know my back may be so bad that I have to take two day sitting and knitting to make it better. Maybe with some pain killer :clink: What new design features can I come up with with multiple pain killers in me?

Do you think DSWMBO will buy the back excuse?

Christ - nothing ventured nothing gained.

Ann  & your way

Welcome Ruthie! we would love to see pics of your first socks! You’d like thispattern to use your caron ss on.

Dustina if you want red you could dye it with red, or like Gina said blue would make purple, lots of blue might make violet, I think green would make an orangish color. TAMI where are you?! You can always use kool-aid! What sweater are you thinking of doing? Wann join the CPH fever? love the Granny squares, they look great

Chris are the rabs peeled? & is there hot garlic butter to dip them in? are we talking crab legs?

sorry I keep forgeting to answer you ?
I ordered WOTA to make the kids & Dh’s clogs. Jacob’s is the jalapeno color, the girls are getting tulip & fairy tale, just opposite, I’ll do Caitlin’s mostly purple & Bailey’s mostly pink-I think unless Bailey decides differently…I could always just hold two strands together throughout, whatcha think? & Dh wanted cobblestone heather & onyx heather (I’ve had cascade 220 for mine since '06) & leather ‘pads’ for the soles of mine & Dh’s slippers & I ordereda size 3 32" needle since I dont have a size 3 & my neighbor ordered a couple books and a sock blank {(I have too much yarn to knit before I order more sock yarn) no I don’t have a fever, just trying to use up some stash.} Together we spent $90.00! :oo:
