Any Sock KAL 2

Dotty just saw the quilt and it’s soo cute!!! Love the green, just makes teh whole thing POP!!!

Allison: Your socks look great, very happy colours.

Cacuun: There is no way I would have the patience to make kilt hose.

Christine and Knitgal: They were so quick because it is like knitting just half the socks . I was also using 3.25 needles, not my usual 2.5 as the yarn was a little thicker. If we all manage to get together sometime, I will show you my speed knitting. LOL

Christine: The sundress looks great.

It looks great!! “Good enough to eat!”

The shawl looks great! A lace pattern is something I want to try… though I’m not sure what to do to start. (I saw one in Victorian Lace Today … but it may be ambitious.)

I had all four of my wisdom teeth out back in December. Whatever you do, follow your doctor’s instructions about food afterwards! You don’t want your gums to heal and grow back over food particles. (ick) If they don’t give you one, ask for one of the syringe-y things that you can use to squirt water into the back of your mouth. You WILL get a piece of food stuck back there in the “sockets” at some point, and it’ll drive you nuts until you can get it out.

I don’t quite have the experience because we have two… but anybody who did not read the saga of the Mom Selling Pokemon Cards On Ebay, might be amused. Check it out. Even with only two, we have bought “extra” items unnoticed in our shopping cart more than once.

That’s a good strategy. Some things you really need your flash for, but any time you’re able to turn it off you’ll usually get better colors, especially for closeups.

NO. But I have now finished the knitting, only a couple days late! (I still need to sew in some ends and block.) Photos Friday, maybe…

Sue, you’re really fast. Nice socks!

ahkatelier, your socks are great. You make some really gorgeous socks.

TheKnitter, that dress looks really cute.

This are my blubellsocks. I’m glad I used cascade fixations, I’m not sure if I’d be able to get them over my heel with other cotton yarn.

Very colourful socks Lieke. Great job!

Lieke I love those!

Lieke: Those socks look fantastic, great colours.

ahkatelier - those are great socks. If they were longer I know of a kilt they would look great with. I want to learn enterlac may when I finish these hose.

The Knitter - that is a nice sun dress there is a luck young lady out there that is going to wear it with pride.

fibrenut - first pancakes now donuts. I’m going to have to stop reading this thread I put on 5 pound just today from reading.

Sue in Canada - you say I have patience in knitting kilt hose - I think it is perseverance. I only seem to be able to knit a few rounds at a time and with the pattern I can see progress I just keep it with me. One long or three short socks I do it as much for something to keep my hands busy, or is it off my bosses neck?

dotty - you say I loosened up among you gals - you forget, I wear a skirt (yes I call it a kilt - but lets be honest), I have to coordinate my socks with my skirt and shirt and purse. OK I call my purse a sporran which is Celtic for purse. I worry about having the right purse for the time of day, is it day wear (brown), evening wear (black), semi-dress (black with fur) or formal (black with silver and fur or full face fur). I also have to be concerned if my knitting bag goes with the outfit. I’m tired even before I go out.

On top of all that I sew (not great but I’ll post a picture of a comforter I am making to be raffled off at my Army unit’s reunion), cook, bake bread, change diapers etc.

It just sound like I am getting in touch with my feminine side.
This makes it easy to let my hair down among us gals. Hold it I have to go get my hair out of the bathroom sink before I can let it down.

Why take life seriously, it doesn’t take us seriously.

:sun: Good Morning Socksters!!

Hi everyone!

SteveDallas~I love the book Victorian Lace…which pattern are you thinking of doing? Can’t wait to see the socks…and Pokemon is all my son talks about…I told his teacher on Tues he would be able to focus if it had Pokemon on it :teehee:

Lieke~:inlove: I love your socks!! Now your socks make me want to try the pattern…before it was eh…but wow Love yours! :yay:

Chris~

I should finish up the test knit sock today :happydance: …then I can work on Roo’s top…then fit in April’s socks…I can’t figure out what pattern I want to do for sure yet…the kids and JD are planning something for Sat…alot of whispering going on…but the kids haven’t slipped yet:rofl:

Another pretty day here today…so getoing to make the rounds on the forums, clean, and then enjoy it…have I mentioned how excited I am that it’s warm and we have sun? :woot:

I hope you guys have a great day of knititng :sun:

A friend of mine is a professional photographer. She is coming here today to take some pictures of Boots while he is still very small. I probably won’t get a lot of knitting done today because of this. She is coming in from out of town, so I will spend time with her because she is doing me a large favour by doing this.

Happy Knitting everyone!

Wow, all the socks look great, and I love the sundress! Beautiful work!

Chris, once again you are cracking me up!

Christine, can’t wait to see the pictures! I put your yarn in the mail yesterday, but tracking would have more than doubled the shipping cost, so it’s just ‘priority mail’, no tracking. It said 6-10 days for delivery.

I agree it’s fun to knit-I cleaned Grandma’s house yesterday and hope to knit on it today! so far only 1 repeat is done by me & I hope to get 2 more done.
I may or may not go to the funeral today-Mom is discouraging me from going b/c Caitlin’s getting over here ear infection and cold and it’s supposed to be 60 and windy today so I’ll see when the time comes closer. Supposed to be a graveside service and the viewing before that-I think I was actually looking forward to seeing ‘adults’ more than anything. Well if I don’t go I’ll knit.:happydance:

Leike I just love your socks. Can’t seem to find Cascade Fixation in the UK, where did you get yours from.

Thanks so much Abbily. It doesn’t matter about the tracking number. That only matters when it’s one of our blankets.

I will post a picture when I am finished the socks. Thanks so much again. It was very kind of you to do that for me!

cloud9
Christine

Wow, lieke, that looks great!

“Large Rectangle in Leaf and Trellis Pattern”… at least that’s how it’s titled on Ravelry. I don’t have the book (it was from the library). Lots of eye candy in it!! But I’m not going to do that for my first time… something smaller, with cheap yarn.

Steve, I understand the ‘cheap yarn’ thing when you’re trying something new…but everytime I do that, it turns out well and I wish I had used something better for all the time I put into it !
Still, having said that, our local Big Lots has some Paton’s Lacette, which looks like it would make a really pretty lace project. It’s $1.00 per skein,…maybe you could find some where you live? I didn’t get any the other day when I was there because I have “good” lace yarn that I haven’t used yet, but now I wish I HAD gotten it, as it contains mohair, and would make a really soft scarf or stole. I know that the fuzzy yarns are a booger to frog, but they’re so pretty when you get it right.

Great job on the socks, Lieke !
And hooray for sunshine, Dustina ! I hope you have a beautiful day for your birthday celebration ! So fun to be the object of all that whispering/planning.

Hi Everyone,
Well BUGGER! Woke up at 4am with the kitty girls yesterday and a nice fat migraine. Lasted all day, and I still don’t feel so hot today, either. I didn’t get the flu or even a cold this past winter, so I shouldn’t complain, but I just hate to lay there in too much in pain to move, just thinking of all the things I’d rather be doing… :ick: I am going to go sit down, now that things are (somewhat) cleaned up around here and KNIT, darn it!
Sue: I hope you know I was just kidding, but thanks for the link for that pretty yarn - one of the prettiest acrylics I’ve ever seen! And yeah, I hate you too for knitting so fast, sigh. Great job, tho, and pretty pastels for Spring:thumbsup:
Allison: Those are killer socks - I love the entrelac and if you think the yellow is too bright, you could wear them with brown sandles or colored crocs, and they would tone right down- super job:thumbsup:
Cacunn, I stopped in yesterday during a lull in the headache and you gave me such a laugh! God Bless your humor (and your patient wife! - 30 years coming up - BRAVO:yay: :yay:
Dustina, Congrats on being approved doggie parents for Whitlee. Am I the only one who actually likes that name? To me, it’s pronounced “Whit-lee”, which is unusual and pretty, but she won’t care what you call her, as long as you love her! And congrats to Isaiah, too - he’s popular, and smart, too!:cheering:
Ann, Congrats on the client presentation! And thanks for the info on how you take such good shots, too. Nice blanket you folks have going there, too. Great work!
Dotty: I didn’t know whether to laugh or send hugs: I admit I did laugh! The mental picture of you admiring your flipflops and belt matching and then looking up to ~ uh, oh! But, seriously, hope you are ok? The quilt is Awesome! Such a great color for the border and really ties it all together:yay:
Christine: GREAT job on that sundress:cheering: Sorry to hear Boots has worms:pout: Those worming meds sure are harsh on little systems, so be sure to give him lots of extra comfort and snuggle time. He may also be a bit unable to control his BM’s for a bit after being wormed again, but I’m sure the vet probably already warned you about that one! Poor little guy…
Glad to hear about DGD, too!
Karina, you live one mile from the ocean? Lucky you! Good luck on the third heel, too…Crossed Fingers
Abbily, they may only sell that yarn Sue used in Canada, but maybe you can find it on ebay (but if you have someone named Reindeerlady bidding against you, it’s be moi:mrgreen: ) Sucks that some yarns are only available in Europe and Canada, phooey on that!
Lieke, Love your socks! :cheering: Such eye-popping colors - hope the x-rays tell them how to make you feel better…Crossed Fingers
Steve, I’m looking at lace, too; there is a mind-boggling amount of lace patterns out there, have you noticed? Like socks, I will have a hard time choosing!
Julie: I’d knit! You need a day to relax, sounds like… Just my opinion, for what it’s worth (exactly nothing!)

:waving: Head’s hurting again, so am going to go knit and try to get better. I seem to be a walking barometer as I get older, and we’re in for some “weather” in the next few days - just wish it would do it and get it over with, geesh. Have a great day knitting, everyone!

Steve~KP has a good price for lace yarns…it’s really not hard just takes time…and make sure you put lifelines in…mom’s first lace project is the Civil War shawl…I talked her into it :teehee: …I also like Skacel’s lace yarn and you get a good yardage of it for 14.00…one is plenty for most shawls…

Devon~:yay: I like the name too…and say it like you Whit Lee :teehee: …I don’t know if we will change it or not…JD might want to but I kinda like it… hope you feel better soon!

Christine~I hope the pictures turn out well…they should cause he is a cutie :inlove:

Julie~I’m sure they will understand if you can’t go…that way Caitilin won’t have a set back

Thank you dotty…I hope so too…I know we are going out to dinner to Bob Evans…but the rest is a mystery :teehee:

the rain is wanting to set in here…and the sun has become hidden…but at least they are not calling for snow anymore this weekend :yay:

The bike accident really WAS something to laugh at, guys…I mean, how silly can an old woman be? From then on, 2 year old Zoe would tell me when I started out on my bike somewhere “Nana, don’t fall off of your bike !” :roflhard:

I knitted a dishcloth last night, and just posted it and the link for the pattern (and some other great looking ones by the same designer), on my blog. I thought that I was using cotton yarn, but it turns out that it was wool, so I can’t wash dishes with it…it’ll shrink and felt !
Dustina, this photo is for you, and you’ll recognize why.

I was thinking about some Alpaca Cloud!
