2008 Year of the Stash! Retiring on Dec 31!

Great job on the scarf KnittingNat! :thumbsup:It turned out beautifully.

I just love this pattern! Your scarf is BEAUTIFUL! :cheering::cheering:

Hey everyone! I’ve had this yarn sitting in my stash for a fairly long time (it was given to me), and didn’t know what to do with it at all! My best friend came over to visit and was looking through my stuff (lol!) and was like YOU HAVE TO MAKE ME A HAT OUT OF THIS! And she’s like, maybe accessories or something else, too? And I do have five skeins. So I’m thinking awesome, because I can totally de-stash this stuff I have no other conceivable use for. But… I’ve never worked with any shoelace type yarn… yeah, shoelace type yarn.

It’s called Katia Spray… any idea how to turn this into something?

This week I made another ice cream cozy from stash yarn and am working on a “Fake Isle” beanie from some stash yarn. I redesigned the pattern for a Valentine theme. I did have to go find the perfect accent color for the beanie. There was also a yarn run in our area this weekend. I went today. I bought yarn. I found some Noro, some hand-dyed sock yarns, and some un-dyed alpaca and alpaca silk. I didn’t resist very well.

Hi little redhead!

Here is a pattern I found at Elann using Katia Spray! I love it!

As you know, Katia Spray is a 10st=4" weight!
Elann’s website has a “search for patterns in the same gauge” feature, and HEREis a link to the page for this photo.

It is beautiful Allison! You are a very talented knitter!!
Love your yarn, too!!

That hat looks beautiful! I love the subtle colors

Your hat is lovely!

Wow. That’s so Pretty. What’s the difference between fake isle and fair isle though?
And don’t worry about stocking up on “restistance is futile” alpaca. I nearly did the same thing but I couldn’t remember the meterage I needed for the pattern! (Yes, this is me on a budget, De-stashing and trying to finish some UFO’s (And how much have I cast on lately? :thud: ))
In fact, (No, FV, you must restist) what is the name of (Stop while you still can) the lovely daybreak/rainbow yarn you’re using. (Bad fox! :violin: No treats for you)

I like the hat too…

I couldn’t leave this alone until I finished. It took most of my weekend. I had to redesign the whole top too.
It is made of Knit one Crochet two “Paint Box” yarn. My Ravelry link says it’s an Aran weight and I thought it was bigger than it really knits up. It is really about the same weight the other yarn is labelled.-DK. Unfortunately it turned out to be child sized. If I want one I(or anyone else in my family) can wear I’ll have to redesign it again…
Fair Isle is the knitting of a bunch of different stranded colors getting a rainbowish effect, while Fake Isle get it’s rainbow effect by using one yarn that changes colors.

Here’s how it turned out.

Wow!!! Love it!

Well, I’ve knit up 7 of 15 skeins of KP alpaca dk for my granddaughter’s “Queen of Hearts” pullover! :happydance: The front and the back are done…with sleeves to go.

I was hopin’ that this pullover would use up more yarn. :pout:
Ah, well…what can ya’ do?

I’ll probably use 4 skeins, at the most, for the sleeves.

That’ll leave me with 4 skeins remaining. Enough for somethin’ like hats ‘n’ scarves ‘n’ mittens, I guess! :teehee:

Why won’t you make a matching “Queen of hearts” scarf? It’s a lovely design, you’ll get to use all the yarn and your granddaughter will be the most stylish girl around

Ohhh Allison! It is sooo nice! :yay: Just wonderful!!

Thanks for sharing!

Hey! That is a really good idea! Thanks KnittingNat!!! I will do that!
Fiona would love to have a matching scarf! I could probably figure out how to embed the heart design into a simple hat, too!:knitting:

Such pretty FOs! Love that heart hat, ahkatelier! :inlove:

I made some cuddles–used 4 skeins of stash! :happydance:

I also used a skein in an attempt to make afghan squares. They ended up not being the same size. Don’t ask me how–I cast on the same # of stitches, used the same needles. And yet…one of them is much larger than the others. Since I’m inherently lazy, I refused to frog them and stitched them together. The cats won’t care what it looks like–they’ll sleep on anything! (Besides! It finished up a skein of yarn!)

BUT…I bought some more yarn. I’ve used 2 of 4 balls of Peaches & Creme that I bought (burp cloths for a friend’s baby–due soon, so I had to knit it NOW:rofl:). And I do have a lapghan in progress that will use up 3 skeins of stash, and a baby blankie (same baby) that will use up 4 skeins of cotton that have been languishing in there for a year. Which kinda makes up for the Mmmmmmalabrigo that I bought on sale last week (4 skeins chunky, 2 lace). Doesn’t quite make up for the skein of hand-dyed, or the 2 skeins of chunky alpaca, but I’ll try to knit fast. :knitting::roflhard:

Sounds like everyone is being so diligent. I love following this thread… (smile)

This is so pretty!

Well, I fell victim to a yarn sale and bought 5 skeins of Kraemer Yarns Tatamy Tweed for a sweater for my daughter, Missa. Good news though - I cast on right away!
