2008 Year of the Stash! Retiring on Dec 31!

I need to get the camera out. I’ve made a couple things. I’m stuck on scarves and shawls for some reason. LOL Oh well, guess I’ll either have a scarf for every day, or gifts in a pinch. LOL

I was so happy this week! I finished up ALL MY OTN’s!

Phew!

For more than a year now…I have had 6-8 OTN’s going at the same time…and it seemed like nothin’ ever gets done! It’s kinda frustrating. I never used to do that!

Anyhoo, I have just one STASH PROJECT on the needles now!

WhooooHoooo! :cheering:

WOW!!! I am impressed!!! Now if I can just get motivated to finish that summer sweater from LAST year… LOL

That’s funny you say that Artlady as I’ve had several OTN at once and recently am finding that I prefer to focus all my attention on ONE thing rather than two or three. Although, I think I’ll always have socks OTN…

im in! i would love to stashbust & finish ufo’s!

:grphug: Welcome aboard the Stash Train, Rosalie! :yay:

I’m going to join this!!! Hey, everyone!

I’ve just been knitting for a little over a year, and I’m way way way into it. At first I couldn’t wait to build up a stash! I started buying quality yarn at the LYS, but since I had no job this summer (for some various good reasons) I had little money and a TON of time on my hands… I knit yarn at least as quickly as I could buy it! This summer when I left my home LYS to come back to college, they gave me a basket full of stuff - they knew I wanted to start a stash and took the liberty of helping me out! I’ve had a little bit less time to knit and more time to learn about, appreciate, and purchase yarn.
I’ve developed a bit of a sock yarn addiction (enough ends of skeins for so many pairs!!!), coupled with stuff I got from swaps, good KP sales (and that ridiculous buy fifty dollars and get free shipping… so I of course buy twice as much to get free shipping) and Christmas and birthday presents, I’ve got quite a sizeable stash. Like, over two big baskets full.

I looove being surrounded by beautiful yarn, but I do think it’s time to start slowly making a dent in my wonderful stash. I’m in

Welcome little Redhead! :waving: Happy to have you aboard! You are an inspiring knitter!

So, my stash busting took a hit last week when I ordered some yarn from Webs… But I am now using the yarn I got in the Winter Wonderland Swap for an afghan. It is turning out really nice. I decided to just use a very simple garter border and stockinet center. My daughter has her eye on it… But I need to get back to my stash busting…

:woohoo:

I made a hat for DH the other night…called the 11th Hour Hat!
I put the details in the Whatcha Knitting section…but then remembered it was made with 100% STASH!!! You can get the pattern links and details HERE
but here is the photo anyway!

I started the Jacques Coursteau Hat for DH, too…then stopped…realizing that I need something simple to work on for JURY DUTY on Feb 19th…you know…the hours of waitin’ around to get picked or not. :pout:

Here is my husband’s “11th Hour Hat”!

That looks great! And bounus stash busting as well. Hope you can knit during your jury selection process, it will help kill the mindnumbing boredom.

That’s a nice looking hat!

Hi All!

Gorgeous hat, ArtLady! If only I could knit as fast as you!

I have been doing good not buying yarn, except…I’m making a simple top down raglan sweater for my grandson and was so excited, I went to the lys and bought 3 more skeins (different colorway) to knit him another sweater. I’ll call it my pre-reward for using up some stash.

Woo hoo! I sold 3 skeins of Berroco Suede! That’s three more down!:cheering:

Confession: I’m off to a terrible start on this stash busting thing! Not only did a frog a lace scarf that was using a whole skein of sock yarn, my grandma bought me
SIX SKEINS OF LION WOOL
TWO SKEINS OF VANNA’S CHOICE
ONE SKEIN OF KUREYON SOCK
and
ONE SKEIN OF ALPACA SOX
for my birthday!

Ahh!!! So maybe this is like before you start a diet you go out for one last really awesome meal. I’m a stash buster starting…

NOW!

Hey there little redhead! IMHO…yarn that is GIVEN to you as a GIFT…is FREE YARN!!! Ya couldn’t exactly toss it back to her! :teehee:

You are doing great…just being conscious of our yarn habits helps us try to use our Stash Yarn once in a while!!!

I have made some stash busting progress. :cheering: My dog has a new cover for her bed, and is very happy about it. No pattern for it; it’s a simple garter stitch center with <gasp> a crocheted border.

Now I get to add some fiber to my stash, right? It will be used up right away as I am taking a class to learn to spin starting Saturday, and the fiber is for class use. Hmm, since it will be immediately used, does that still make it stash? :?? :teehee:

OTN from stashed materials:
Simple Socks with a Twist (KP Essential Sock in Navy)
Christening Gown (Patons Beehive Baby Sport in Angel White)

Love the hat ArtLady, and the snowy background (Ah, snow, how I miss thee, let me count the ways…)

Waaaaay to go Lady B! You rock!

And “yup!” to a fiber purchase as your reward!! :cheering:

Here’s another stashbusting project - the Branching Out scarf from Knitty.com for my mom. I knit it in acrylic i had in my stash, it’s worsted weight, so the scarf is thick and squishy. It’s nice, deep violet, but the camera kept making it into a dark blue:??. It’ took a bit more than one huge ball. It was also my first lace project

KnittingNat, that scarf is beautiful! Way to stash-bust!
