I’ve found a pattern on lovecrafts which looked quite cool. With a zip front and arms.
It’s a short pattern with little description.
I’ve started on the back and am at the arms shaping.
I dont understand the following:-
dec. on each side, inside 2 sts, 1 st every 2 rows, 4 times.

Make the decreases 2sts in from each end of the needle. Decrease one stitch on each end every other row for 14 times (you posted 4 but the pattern says 14). If you call the first dec row, row 1 then you would dec on rows 1,3,5, 7,9,11,13,15,17,19,21,23,25 and 27.
The pattern only mentions binding off at one end. You’re right that the decreases are probably at each end to form the sleeve cap (as shown in the schematic).

You’re to bind off or cast off 10 or 11 or 12 sts starting from the armhole edge. The number of sts bound off depends on the size you’re making. If you look at the schematic you can see the bound off area as a jog inward between the underarm shaping and the neck sts.

I’ve finished the back and they collar !
I’m just a bit puzzled by the instructions fornthe front. I’m nearly at the (34 36-38) butbit doesn’t say about the arm shaping, and then dividing the front.
I’m struggling with how simple or how littlw instructions there are
Basically the instructions for the arm shaping and collar on the front are the same as the back with one exception. Once you reach 34(36-38)cm, divide into two equal parts for the front. Then continue with two separate balls of yarn for the shaping.
It’s not the easiest pattern to understand.
Which size are you making? For the middle size it should be 56-8 = 48sts. If you have 25 on each side that’s ok work with that. Bind off 11sts each side to match the back. A couple of stitches difference at the collar isn’t going to matter when you seam as the knitting is stretchy.
For the sleeves, “stand off” means to put the sts on hold while you work the left side of the sleeve. You can put the sts on another needle, a stitch holder or waste yarn.
This sweater seems to be going well! It’s not so simple to follow however. I find that patterns on Ravelry have better support from project knitters. They often note errors and recommend easier approaches.
