My mother has a room bigger than her master bedroom for all her fabric. and another room in the basement that is half the length of the house to hold her Gammill Long Arm Quilting Machine.
She has always said ‘the one who dies with the most fabric WINS!!’
so we can say ‘the one who dies with the most yarn wins!’
Lily, that’s too funny! But also really good advice. The other day I was in bed, my husband was alseep, and I said aloud to myself, “I need to buy some more yarn.” Now I don’t know why I said this aloud, it just popped out, but my husband sat bolt upright and said, “But you already have so much yarn!” He has quickly learned to watch me in my new addiction (I haven’t been knitting that long).
Hydeemarie, Try to remember not to be too snotty to your mom, that will only get you into more trouble! It’s always fun to think the snotty comments though. Hide your stash responsibly, and organize the visible stash! (I need to get more creative in my own stash hiding :teehee: )

Wow thats all just too funny :roflhard:
I especially like
It’s awesome presence is just too much for them.
I can just see it now…they see it…mouth drops open…then they just fall over like this guy-----> :thud:
:roflhard: :roflhard:
I just recently noticed that i actually have an official stash now :yay: . It first started out with just left over yarn from what ever i was knitting but now i’m actually going out to buy yarn even though i don’t know what i’m going to knit with it yet. I just buy because its sooooo pretty, and soooo beautiful, and sooooo…YAAAAAARRRRNNN…
:teehee: I used to giggle at you guys when I was first knitting and you talked about your stashes, but I tried to organize all the stuff I had in the den the other night…and then I remembered the Rubbermaids under the bed…and the big box in my closet…and the delivery I had coming the next day!! :roflhard: :roflhard: I’ve barely been knitting more than a year!
i’m glad to hear i’m not alone. i’ve been knitting a little over a year now and my stash is getting so big i’m afraid i won’t live long enough to use all my yarn. and i’ve been so good about hiding it, in inconspicous boxes in the closets, under the bed, in the basement…husband must not ever see them all in one place :teehee:
now if I could just teach my husband that just b/c I have such a stash doesn’t mean that I no longer need yarn…everytime we are at a craft store or yarn shop he says, “are we shopping for yarn again?? Don’t you already have yarn?”…OY!
Is it a bad sign that I had bought a skein of pretty purple yarn almost six months before I ever thought of knitting?
I have yet to acquire a stash of yarn, but I do have a stash of books. What I did was get a huge storage tub, put most of my books in that, and then my gran made a cushioned cover for it, so it functions as a bench. I may have to do something similar once the knitting madness takes over my mind completely.
And the replies to this are hilarious…I had no idea knitters were such awesome people.
