Yarn to use instead of Lavold's (expensive) angora

I’m going to try my first E Lavold pattern, and it calls for her Angora (aran weight). Now it’s real pretty and all (look here), but E X P E N S I V E. Any recommendations for a switcheroo yarn - I’d like to purchase from Knitpicks! :slight_smile:

Pretty! KnitPicks doesn’t have any aran weight yarn, but you could probably use a worsted weight one. The andean silk has a similar gauge to the angora (andean silk is 4.5-5 sts=1" on #7-8 needles, angora is 17 st/4 inches 4.5 mm (US 7)). Not exact, but you might be able to fiddle with it a bit to make it work.
