Yarn substitution?

I have gotten a free pattern from the Lion Brand website for a pencil case. It calls for Lion Brand Microspun yarn, but I can’t seem to find it at any Michaels or A.C. Moore’s…

what can I substitute? I’m not familiar with the microspun variety, so I’m not sure what I’m to look for in terms of material, etc.

Microspun is a micrfiber yarn, like an acrylic, but very soft. It’s also a number ‘3’ yarn in terms of thickness. You could sub Cottonease, though it’s a little heavier, but it should work. Look for something that will get you the gauge when you knit it or it’ll be huge.
