Yarn substitution

Hello fellow knitters

I recently purchased a vintage pattern for a sleeveless summer sweater. The recommended yarn is Paton Linen Look which is discontinued. The yarn composition is 63% acrylic, 17% cotton, 13% linen/flax, 7% wool. It is DK (11 wpi) 137 yd in 50 g ball.

Can anyone recommend a yarn that would be a good substitute for the given yarn?

The pattern is Patons booklet 7406 women’s vest top.

Thank you so much for any help you can give.

Gloria

I tried yarnsub, but this yarn wasnt listed. Then i did a yarnsub search for acrylic cotton linen, and another for recycled acrylic cotton linen.

If you like tweedy looking yarn this could be an option to consider, some nice colours there too, its berroco remix light, nylon cotton acrylic silk linen combined.

I haven’t used it. I just sub with what i fancy and see how it goes. admittedly sometimes when i swatch i think yarn is better for a different project.
You would need to calculate how much length you need rather than buying the number of balls given in the pattern.

Pretty top!
I’ve used Juniper Moon Farm Zoey which is a linen/cotton blend. It’s very soft and comfortable to wear.
Knit Picks has a Cot/Lin DK which looks nice although I haven’t tried it myself.

If the vintage pattern is listed on Ravelry you might check the yarns used by other project knitters. Maybe this pattern?
