I want to make the gellato pattern from Fiber trends. It calls for double stranding either two strands of wool or a strand of wool and a strand of mohair. I have this wonderful tweedy blue yarn from Maggi knits that’s acutally a bulky weight. Can I use a single ply of that as long as my gauge adds up right? I need to knock down some of the stash and thought this was a good way.

As long as it knits up to gauge, has the same qualities of the yarn called for, and you like the effect, than, yes, you can use it.
