I hope he finds some yarn for you in Paris, because in Prague i never found any. Me and DH went there for our honeymoon last October, it’s a beautiful, absolutely wonderful place, but i never saw a single yarn store.
Hope for you he’ll find something beautiful to get you
Sometimes in France yarn stores are named after the particular brand they sell. So Bergère de France, Phildar, Plassard, Bouton d’or, Anny Blatt, could be good keywords to look for. :teehee:
Oh seriously? That would be totally AWESOME! Im not sure how much free time he will have at his destinations, so Im hoping I can find places at every stop he makes…
Hes also looking for places around here that I can get Texas grown/bred (?) wool. Since he knows Im sad theres no LYS here.
While I’ve never been to Europe, I do shop on line a lot and found this seller who is based in Houston TX. I’m not sure where the wool comes from, but he dyes it himself and the sock merino is fabulous. Soft beyond belief. www.knitivity.com
This one’s easy: click on “shop” to get to the online shop. And at the bottom of the main page is the address. If you click on “stadtplan” there’s a map to the shop.
If you PM me the hotel or the part of town your husband’s staying at I can see if there’s a yarn shop close by.
I just got back from Paris last Sunday. I LOVE PARIS!!! However, there aren’t a lot of yarn stores. I did manage to get to a couple – La Droguerie is not far from the Louvre and there is an Annie Blatt store not far from there either. I wandered around and around La Bon Marche where there is supposed to be a Phildar store but I never did find it.
Just so you know, nothing is cheap in Europe at all. The Euro is something like $1.36 in dollars and in London it’s $2 American for every Pound Sterling. So, there aren’t many bargains.
And really, all the yarn I saw was lovely, but nothing really that you couldn’t get in the States or online.
Now, the champagne, the pate and the coffee – that was another story!
