Hello, what would be a good yarn for knitting a vest for a 12 yr old boy?

If youâre making your own pattern what weight yarn youâd like to use?
Personally Iâd look for a pattern that used DK or worsted yarn. I make all my sonâs knits in DK itâs a nice weight to work with and feels quite ânormalâ for a vest or sweater.
You can obviously use any weight you like though.
Maybe start with looking for a pattern? Or sometimes I browse yarns and see what my son would like (and what neets my requirements, ie machine washable, not too pricey as he will outgrow it in a snap) then choose a suitable pattern for the selected yarn.

Do as you wish, but I never use (my usually preferred) natural fibers on baby clothes. Drool, spit up, wallowing in the floor, food drips - just too hard to keep it clean & free from stains.
