Does YO ever mean anything other than Yarn Over? Someone suggested it might mean Yarn Off in the context of circular knitting. And exactly what does either of these terms mean - I am confused.
I used to knit loads but I am afraid my skills are so rusty!
I’ve never heard the term Yarn Off… usually YO is just a yarn over. A yarnover is just wrapping your yarn around the needle; some people think it means wrap around the needle and knit the next st too, which it isn’t and causes st counts to be off if you do.
Not always…I’m now working on a pattern where the yarn over in a knit row is simply bringing the yarn from back to front. A loop (for eyelet) forms when the next stitch is knit. Wrapping the yarn around the needle doesn’t achieve the same result and the desired pattern is lost…been there, done that! I found this variation of a yarn over by Googling several sites.
