Yarn Harlot's Decreasing Triangular Shawl >>>

Okay, let’s say I co 200 stitches.

According to the YH, I need to decrease one stitch at the end of every other row until you’re done.

SO, I have my 200 st co…

R1: K
R2: K across to last st, k2tog?
R3: K
R4: K across to last st, k2tog?
etc. until you’re done…

And that’s it? Is there a better way to decrease every other row?

Thanks!

That’s about it. Does she suggest any other decrease? I think this one often looks best anyway so give it a try.

That seems too easy doesn’t it? but it would work! let us know how it turns out!!

Decrease every other row or dec every row? Seems to me that might be lopsided. It would work if you dec both ends every other row, or at the end of every row, but I don’t think decreasing at the end of every other row will work…

Good point, Sue!

In her book, Knitting Rules!, she says decrease one st at the end of every other row…

maybe she means to decrease at both ends of every other row.

In that case, how should my decreases look?

R1: K across
R2: SSK, k across to last 2 st, K2tog
R3: K across

etc.

Does THAT make more sense?

Thanks again!

Laura

Since you’re on Ravelry- I don’t know if you’re in the “Yarn Harlot Fans” group but I am sure if you posted this there- there’s a good chance someone has actually knitted this and could tell you.

Great idea!

 I think by using the Yarn Harlot’s instructions, you are creating a right triangle, and the decreases will form the hypotenuse. But I could be wrong…

R1: K across
R2: SSK, k across to last 2 st, K2tog
R3: K across

Yes, that would work, but iza’s point -

I think by using the Yarn Harlot’s instructions, you are creating a right triangle, and the decreases will form the hypotenuse.

…may also be right. What does the picture look like? It would either be decreasing from the neck edge down, or from a side edge to one of the points…

I went by my LYS and the owner said you have to decrease every row or at both ends of every other row.

Thanks, y’all!
